What model? And do you have Verizon or something else?

If you have Verizon, it's almost useless.

If you want to hack your verizon phone, and if you have a V3c, one of the firmware versions had full obex. Others did not, you can flash that firmware, or the Altel firmware. A V3m will need to be "disabled" down to V3c software losing all the new features of the V3m.

I don't have any experiance with Cingular or T Mobile Razr.

You are correct. You can thank Verizon for that. They figured that if they didn't force Motorola to remove that feature you might be less inclined to pay for the email picture messages or the change for emailing pictures you take off your phone. It's a whole money thing.

There are some "hacks".

If you have a V3c, there was one version of the software that did allow it, but since I have never seen the firmware version I can't tell you how. If you have it count yourself lucky. If you don't have it there are procedures to flash the firmware yourself, but you could mess up your phone and you would void the warranty.

So what this post is telling me, is that since I have a Verizon phone (Razor) I will not be able to use the bluetooth adapter, or I won't be able to import my phonebook into my Z1? Which is it, and can I manually input the numbers into the Z1 if the latter is the case??

Generally, If you have a verizon phone with bluetooth, you can use the Z1 to make and receive phone calls, you can use the Z1's bluetooth adapter to turn your car into a big speaker phone.... but you will have to manually enter all your contacts into the Z1 (or just dial numbers manually).

If you have a verizon phone with bluetooth all that verizon gives you is the hands free protocol and the dial up networking over bluetooth.

So you can use a bluetooth headset (the pioneer z1 and bluetooth adapter) acts as one big headset basically. So you can make and receive calls via the bluetooth adapter.

You can also connect your computer to your phone wirelessly via the bluetooth and dial up to an ISP for wireless internet.

The part of bluetooth that you need to trnasfer files and your address book, Verizon purposly KILLS on your phones because they want to make more money and think that if they give you this functionality you will not pay them as much (in picture messages and downloading ring tones). It's a big money thing and they think that they can get away with it cause no one knows the difference. Cingular doesn't have this kind of limitations on any of their phones, but since verizon has(had) the lock on most markets, they think they can do just about anything.
