I searched the forum but couldn't find anything related to what I'm dealing with so here goes.... I have an avic z1 which I've had for a little over a year and just recently when i start my car and it begins to boot up the splash screen appears and a message comes up right across it reading "initializing the configuration information of hdd. do not power off."

It seems to go away as the splash screen switches to the functional user screen but in do so i lose my custom loaded background each time. Any one went through this or have any advice? I've called pioneer and they want to charge me a minimum of $200.00 depending on the problem possibly more.

i could be wrong but that sounds normal.. the msg anyways. If i remember right you have to have the background on your disk when booting.

Well it hasn't been there until recently (the message). And my background has been on loaded onto my z1 for at least 6 months and all of a sudden it disappears when this issue first surfaces. So these things lead me to believe there is a problem. Ive tried resetting it already( which i guess would be a soft reset since i lose my presets but not my music stored on the hard drive) and that didn't work. So i was looking for other options.

the msg isnt a problem. period. try reloading your background and stop doing the resets. this sounds fine

I have the same problem with my HD3-BT wich is the european version of the Z2

First I lost my settings for language etc and the unit would start with the popup screen

After upgrading to a Z3 the unit kept the settings but the popup remained at startup

Is there a way to get rid of the pop-up screen?
