Hi I got a great deal on dvd-r's over black friday sale and was wondering if the z1 can play music off a dvd. I am super short on money and dont wanna go out and buy some cd-r's even though they are pretty cheap so will dvd-rs work?

I don't know, I haven't tried it yet. My friend just got a D3 and MP3 DVD's work in it, we tried it the other day.
