I am considering this NAV system or the Z2. Can someone who has the 7100 tell me what happens to music when navigation commands are given? Does the volume lower or does it pause and restart?

I have a nuvi and it pauses the music when it gives commands which is kind of annoying.

The volume lowers and the music continues playing. You can adjust the volume of the nav commands so it isn't quite so startling and you can adjust which speaker (front left, right or both) the nav commands come from. It isn't annoying in the least, but can be jarring if you have the hav volume up loud.

Thanks for following. I decided to hold off on my decision to see what announcements CES 2008 provides. Cnet is providing good coverage and there are some interesting developments. I may go with a Video/DVD based stereo and continue to use my Garmin Nuvi 660 - with the technology changing as quickly as it is it might be the way to go - a number of companies are going to have DVD players out at around $600 which means street prices will be even less. The DNX7100 seems like a great unit and if I didn't already have the Nuvi it would be a no-brainer.
