  1. I just wanted to inform anyone with an AVIC-S2 that there is firmware update.

Below is the e-mail with the link for the firmware update.

We would like to inform you of the availability of a free AVIC-S2 firmware update to address certain service issues with the language selection menu, guidance sound volume indicator, and USB drivers for Microsoft Windows XPâ„¢ and Windows 2000â„¢ operating systems.

Most AVIC-S2 units are not affected by these service issues, so no action will need to be taken. If, however, you are experiencing one or more of these issues, there is a one-time fix available to resolve the issues. If you wish to resolve these issues at later time, the one-time fix will still be available if an AVIC-S2 later experiences these service issues. Importantly, the service issues do not pose any health or safety risk, and there is no risk of property damage.

To address these service issues, Pioneer is offering a free firmware update. If you would like to receive the free update, you may do so in one of the three ways listed below.

Download the free update to your computer from http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/top/cat/article/0,,2076_310069579_493718380,00.html; OR

Order a computer disc containing the free update by calling Pioneer Customer Service toll free at 800-421-1404; OR

Call Pioneer Customer Service toll free at 800-421-1404 to arrange for your AVIC-S1 to be mailed to Pioneer for Pioneer to install the free update.

If you have any questions, please contact Pioneer Customer Service toll free at 800-421-1404.

Pioneer service representatives are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Eastern Time).

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these service issues may cause you, and we thank you for your cooperation and continued support of Pioneer.

    Sincerely,

    Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

I also have an S2 and would like to access the wince. I have tried the reset method but I have been unsuccessful. Can you please let me know how you were able to access the wince? Do I need the wince unlocker or can I just use the reset button? If I do need the wince ublocker, can you describe what you did?

I apologize for all the questions but I am new to this.

Thank you in advance for your help.
