You can eject the SD card and it is seen as a mass storage device. What he said is quite possible...
It is also just as possible that with the upgrade AVIC will brew coffee for you...
Thanks for the intelligent contribution. Fact is... if Pioneer offered the bug fixes for free like they should... people would be less inclined to circumvent the upgrade procedure.

it could maybe just a dumb idea,im not familiar with the update keycode, adn dont know when its asked for, if the unit askes for the code when you try to update, maybe its possible to go into test mode and just copy the contents of the update sd card to the right folders of the flashdisk
dont shoot me for this
Well usually to enter testmode you have to have the sd card in before you boot up the unit. With that said we would have to have testmode on the update card in order to do that which doesnt seem possible.

This issue is with the RCA preouts for the iPod. They are faulty and need to be replaced.
-
Guys.... this is a problem with the RCA Preouts going bad. I have confirmed this with Al-Eds as their local owner said he went round and round with this issue and once he replaced the deck... all was well. I suggest you call Pioneer and get them to issue a RMA.
In fact... I'm on the hold waiting to speak to someone right now.
-
Mine works with my F90BT... but I don't use the Phonebook on the deck mostly because its terrible.
-
I have the same setup, works fine (just like it used too) of course apple didn't release the whole update , the SMS, the blue tooth tethering and a couple other things they said were in the 3.0 were not there yet. Oh well, that gives pioneer more time for our update
More like AT&T hasn't enabled the features. Besides... why would Pioneer care about MMS and tethering?
-
They have updated the product description.Coming Soon!
Model year 2009 TeleAtlas database on SD Card, featuring nearly 12 million POI, US and Canada coverage (including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico).
Includes firmware version 3.0, including heading-up option in 2D view, Highway Sign Boards, enhanced map UI with improved contrast, and more. Models with built-in MSN Direct will feature 3 additional channels (news, stocks and local events) and traffic flow displayed on map.
Compatible with AVIC F-Series In-Dash navigation systems only (AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT, AVIC-F700BT, AVIC-F7010BT).
Like I said again... it's pretty sweet we have to pay more for them to fix their bugs. They should offer a separate download for the bug fixes.
-
did they say anything about just the firmware update without the maps?
Yeah, it's not going to happen.
It's nice to know that I have to pay more for bugs that Pioneer should have fixed prior to shipment. I paid $900 for my F90BT when it came out and its everything but "Premier" equipment.
On a side note... The iPod preouts have gone to shit and the guy at Al-Eds told me he found this issue before after I described what happens. He said I would have to send it in to Pioneer for a replacement. I wonder if I should wait to see if the replacement will come with 3.0 or not.

Has anybody out there opened up an F series unit to see whats inside? I haven't popped the cover on mine yet, and was hoping somebody else out there may have and might be willing to share some pictures.
I'm hoping that somewhere internally there might be a serial header that would be useful for custom software/hardware integration with other stuff (e.g. radar detector, alarm system, car/engine debug info).
Thanks!
I have not opened mine either. But if your looking for a serial header, don't forget to look for both 9 Pin and 4 Pin serial headers.

Truth of the matter is that Pioneer doesn't know WTF is going on over there. They fail to update their reps with the correct info.
I find it very funny they are spending time in test considering the state the unit was launched in. Do they even have a QA dept? From the launch, it sure as hell doesn't.
Perhaps they have been drinking the water from where they are located in Long Beach because this shit is sickening.

i talked to pioneer yesterday and the guy said that the only thing he knew for sure that will be in this fix is the problem with blackberry's and bluetooth. I asked specifically about a test mode lockout, but he said he didn't know. I hope they don't lock that. But he also said that he knows the update is soon, just not how soon.
I am going to call again here in a few minutes just to ask about it and will post once I talk to them.
Locking testmode out wouldn't be too difficult if they did it right (not that I'm going to give Pioneer any ideas) though it seems they have ITT students doing their coding.

Guy's I've worked with WinCE as a developer and while you can change the way it can boot to some extent it is unlikely to happen for the Avic.
There are just too many required components needed for it to boot at a speed which you would expect for a normal stereo.
I am saying that they can make changes and probably will improve some aspects, but the time savings you are expecting just won't come.
You can bitch about me all you want, but that will not change the facts.
Not all developers are made the same though wouldn't you agree. I myself work in the computer/portable devices industry and have some first hand knowledge of embedded OS's. Even in my previous life, I worked on a Digital Picture Frame that had wireless connectivity among other things. That platform ran WinCE as well and it only took 15 seconds to boot.
You can even customized an embedded version of WinXP to boot relativity quick. This is what they use for electronic kiosks, Point of Sales Systems (Cash Registers), etc...

Ravage, I agree with you that hibernation is not going to cut it. Having said that, you're wrong that Win CE can't boot faster. Depending on what drivers you need to load, it could have operational GUI for at least the audio sources before it would start working on loading Navi in the background. That way they have the audio part down before they load navi drivers and program and lastly they could load the video drivers. That alone would speed up the perceived boot time. Right now everything gets loaded before you're allowed to use the head unit and that may not be necessary.
I agree that Ravage is WAY off base by stating that WinCE is slow in general. How they are loading the OS is slow, but there is still room for improvement. Its not like there is a min 60 sec counter for WinCE to boot.
Are you guys really that gullible?

Anyone get this error when answering a call? Getting this using both a Nokia 5300 and a Sidekick 3.
-
I feel like mine could be sharper... but the image would have to be 1:1 on the pixels for it to looks its sharpest. Anyone care to count the pixel count use from Pioneer for the album art?

And to think that people buy this bypass on ebay.
