  1. Do you have at least ios 7.1 on your phone?

    Yup, iOS 8.0.2

Just a thought, try restarting your car and fully rebooting your iPhone.

That's not a bad shout. Back in the office now so will try that when I leave.

Keep the ideas coming though guys!

  2. So, applied the firmware update. Everything went to plan.

Connected phone, CarPlay logo showed up, awesome.

Headunit shows "Attempting to connect to Apple CarPlay", excitement palpable.

Then, nothing. No new source icon on the home screen. Can't find anything anywhere.

The "Smartphone setup" settings page shows CarPlay as an connection option so I know the firmware installed correctly.

    Any ideas guys?!

  3. Friends, I fear that CarPlay is coming between us! Everyone just chill out.

At the end of the day, the fact that some help desk monkey said something to one customer that's different from another help desk monkey's response to another customer means jack. I'd be very very surprised if the people who respond to emails/phone calls/strongly worded letters have any idea about precise release schedule (they might, but if that were the fact then surely everyone would get the same response, no?) Also, sometimes delivery dates slip. I'm a developer and I've seen many applications not go out on time. You find a show stopper bug and you have to fix it, regardless of what your customers have been told. This "early summer" date is a finger in the air estimate from Pioneer to give you some idea as to when this free update is coming; they're under no obligation to actually deliver it to you exactly on time.

Saying that, of course Pioneer is working hard with Apple to get this thing out. I'm certain that it's Apple who's causing the delay (I'm a total Apply fanboy so I'm allowed to say that  ;) ) but only because they have very high standards, probably something that Pioneer is finding out the hard way! If it was rushed out just because an angry mob on some random forum are crying for it you'd get a shitty piece of software - and then, dear lord, imagine the uproar there would be then!

So, instead of the petty squabbles, sit down, have a beer, enjoy life. It'll be out when it's ready.

  4. Personally, I think the delay is due to quality control measures. This is the first time (that I can think of) that the "new Apple" has allowed their software on 3rd party hardware. There is no way Apple are going to green light anything carrying an Apple logo that's slow, buggy or simply not up to usual Apple standards.

  5. Anyone else experienced this error when trying to use an iPhone in iPod mode?

Setup is AVIC-F60DAB (i.e. 8000NEX) with iPhone 5S connected via lightening cable to USB (tried both 1 and 2). Shows "Format Read" on the screen for about a minute then displays the above error.

The manual only references iPods with regards to any 02-6X errors and suggests resetting them; I wouldn't expect to have to reset my iPhone!

Any help would be massively appreciated.

    Cheers

  6. Is anyone else running this and able to start AppRadio mode? My 5s connects fine over bluetooth but I get a "Downloading firmware" message when connecting to the lightning cable and the AppRadio icon never lights up.

    Cheers

P.S. I am a registered Apple Developer so I am a valid beta user and know about the pitfalls of betas!
