  1. This is only a hunch, but I know the feeling when you're 'at a loss' so to speak, and don't know what else to try. I imediately thought it might be your media. It sounds funny depending on your experience with burning disks, but it's possible that the drive in your N4 might not like the brand of burnable media you're using. I suggest you buy disks that are made by a different company and try again. These things seem to be pretty finicky.

Also, fyi, I used imgburn to burn the disk that worked for me. I don't know what burning software you used but this might help. http://www.imgburn.com

    good luck

  2. I have an N4 and I've always bunt all my mp3's on 4.7 dvds using nero and it's data burning selection. i've never had any problems. I would say try a different brand of media, or software, or burner. It could be any one of these things. I can only speak of how the N4 works, but since I don't know what model you're using I can't really say much more.

As for the CD100-UB I just got one a few weeks ago and I like it and it works fine for me. Of course I would make some improvements but overall it's good. I'm able to always have my nav disk in and I'm using a 32gb flash drive that has enough music to keep me happy for a while. I've also read that people are using external hard drives with plug in power sources that don't use the usb for power and they work well too.

  3. good questions.

I can't help much but I think the mute/att feature is for the nav voice commands (turn left in 100 meters... ect.)

As for the mute time, I don't think there is a way to change it. I would personally prefer just to press in the control wheel instead of it changing the source.

    hope this helps.

  4. Hi,

So here is an update and how I fixed this issue that prevented me from using about half the nav features on my N4:

if you go into the menu, system, hardware info, and 3d Setup (or something like that), you can see the progress of the system setup. There are progress bars for left, right, distance and 3d orientations. Above the progress bars there is a status section. Here it said "sensor initializing".

Press the line where it says "sensor initializing" a button will appear that says "Clear" (so simple, yet so important). It completely cleared all the progress bars. I was worried because it took a very long time to max out these progress bars but it wasn't a big deal. My next trip I took, the section that said "sensor initializing" now says "3d Hybrid" and all of the features are now working.

If this doesn't work for you, then I would try to get a copy of the CNDV-80MT disks from Pioneer and on some models it will update your firmware. I would do this and then clear the sensor.

I called the Pioneer "tech support" line and they just told me to use a pen and press the reset button on my head unit. If that doesn't work I should remove my head unit and my nav unit and send it to them with no rma number no nothing...the guy didn't even want to be on the phone with me. Wow do these guys suck.

Thanks to everyone here for their help. This forum has been an awesome source of info for me, unlike the pioneer tech support, website or manuals.

    cheers

  5. I got this installed in Calgary at a place called Visions in the NW.

He told me that he hooked up the sub but after taking the radio out and looking i don't think the sub is connected at all. There was two wire harnesses just hanging out. I'm assuming that one of them is for the sub, but I can't tell you what they're for though. He told me that he connected the whole stereo through the factory amp including the sub.

The car is a 2004 Honda Element EX

  6. Hi,

I have posted this on www.elementownersclub.org as well

So I'm coming to you guys again for help. I can't tell you how happy I am that this site is here!

    Here's the story:

I got a pioneer avic n4 installed a few months ago. The installer said he installed the video bypass and setup the sub. When I got it back the bypass didn't work and the sub didn't work either. After fighting with him I didn't want him in my car again so I decided to do it myself.

I have since fixed the bypass and installed tweeters and new speakers as well. Everything was working for a few days and all of the sudden I started my E to go home from work and there was no sound.

An important note might be for the two or three days after the speaker install I noticed a hiss when the volume was completely off or at a low level. The stereo still works and so does the nav and all the features but it seems the speakers do not have any power.

My question is did I blow a fuse? If so, where is this fuse located. If not, what could it be? The factory amp? I don't know what this douche of an installer did when he hooked up my stereo. I printed off many pages from the forumand said I would pay for any extra parts, harnesses, or adaptors necessary. Since the stereo was working with the stock speakers for months I assumed he used the right parts but now I don't know. The reason why I used an installer is that I don't no sh1t about this stuff. So if you have any advice please keep it in simple terms and please use pictures small words when possible.

    Thanks,

  7. Hi,

I just moved from Calgary and I know what you're taking about.

Since this is an old post I'm assuming you might have already found this out. For the map to display a closer view of the area that you're in, all you need to do is plan a trip with the address search and it will start saving the zoomed in view into memory. You don't have to finish your trip but you do need to wait until it's finished loading. Once it has loaded your trip you then can eject the nav disk.

Btw, has your unit fully synchronized? If so, how many kms did it take?

    Thanks,

  8. I tried it,

It reset all of the unit's settings back to default (no big deal for me) so be careful if you have your N4 setup "just right".

It looks like you can do a lot of damage in there. You can flash your system's memory, clear nav memory and test sensors and inputs.

    cheers

  9. Hi,

I have made some changes so I thought I would edit this thread.

My N4 has been stuck with full progress bars and a status of Initializing in the 3d Setup menu for months now.

Previously I had trouble with the way that the installers I highered had done the install. They said they did the bypass, but there wasn't even a ground wire there. I have done the bypass tonight and I have tested it. I'm glad to say that it is working.

The problem with the sensor initializing is still there however. Does anyone else have this problem or any advice?

    Thanks,

  10. I finally got my N4 but I don't know where I should put the Hide away unit. It seems like i'm a little short on space, and the dash kit uses the other DIN as a little cubby hole that takes up some ideal space.

Also, does anyone know if I can plug the stock sub into the N4 or do I need to use the stock amp? If I use the stock amp is there anything I need to do that's extra to make everything work?

    Thanks
