Wow. Thanks for all the info. So probably even if I changed to an hdmi capable nex unit ( which is not possible right now ) I would still have these problems? How do you go about sometimes getting it to work and sometimes not? Just randomly? Like I mentioned. Mine shows a slight image and then goes back to the app. Horrible.

Hello. So I did it just like that and nothing. It's all about the AppRadio app. What I tried this time was that I started playing a YouTube video and I could see on the iPhone screen that it was displaying it on an external display. It obviously did not show anything on the HU, when it asked me to open AppRadio it showed the video I was playing for a second and then disappeared. It pretty much mocked me right there. Well? Anything else I can do?

I will try it again after I get out of work. I read something in the manual about not having bluetooth on while doing all this. But AppRadio mode will not even connect without bluetooth turned on. It is so weird. Thanks again. I will let you know.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried that also. If I choose USB instead of VGA adapter I get an X in the APPS ICON on the HU. And the image still doesn't mirror. I can't have a faulty unit because of the fact that I was able to get youtube showing with that awful app EC touch, a one hour trial. It is just not letting me run other things that I have read users have been able to run. Mirroring screen. Netflix. All with other units that use exactly the same cable as mine does. And I spoke to Pioneer and they said: " Those apps are not officially supported but sometimes can run on your unit". Real

My issue is that my radio won't show VGA as a source. I am so confused. And Pioneer was of no help.

Hello, no worries. My 5000NEX did not have this cable hooked up neither. The GPS was working good and the speed was almost on par with my speedometer. My OCD led me back to Best Buy so that they could finish the job and install that particular cable. And also. Did your installer connect the Illumination wire? They also left this out at my local Best Buy. This Dims the LCD screen at your chosen setting when you turn on your headlights. Very useful because if not your going to have to manually adjust the dimmer when it is nighttime. One other thing. Do you have an iPhone hooked up? Did you

I am using iPhone 5. The thing is that it is connected via VGA. And the image tries to mirror itself to the unit for a split second, then the AppRadio app kicks in and removed my video.

Playing video with VGA adapter on my unit doesn't seem to be working. I have tried everything. I am able to get the useless AppRadio feature to work but then I press on Youtube/Netflix and/or any video on my phone it displays for a split second then it asks me to open the horrific AppRadio app. Any insights? I am going crazy with this. $150 in cable and I am only able to view the horrific AppRadio app? I have read of people using this adapter with other radios haven't had a problem. Maybe I have to reset the system or something? Any insights?

Hopefully nothing is wrong with my head unit? maybe just a firmware update in the future? Weird I cannot see the RGB input as an option on my selection list. Thank you very much for the information. If you find out anything new, please let me know.

In my head unit it just says AV, it doesn't specify the RGB input. And when I hit it, gives me a black screen. I even spoke to a Pioneer representative and he just said that things like Netflix and such are not officially supported but sometimes might it might not work. It is just weird how the system shows for a split second. The video image and then it goes away.

Thanks for the quick reply!, do you know about playing NETFLIX and/or youtube through the 5000nex? I have read of other users being able to do so with other headunits, but I can't seem to get mine to show any video. All it does it show me an image of the video playing on my phone for a splitsecond and then it goes back to the AppRadio app on the headunit. I opened another topic for this but maybe you know something about it? Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. I currently own an AVIC 5000NEX. I got the correct RGB (VGA) adapter for the AppRadio mode. I am able to get the supported apps running but I get no video out of my iphone 5. I have read of people watching Netflix and/or watching videos on their headunits but mine starts to play audio from the video and the iPhone 5 says that the video is being sent to the TV but I get no image. What happens is that it shows an image of my video for a split second then turns to the AppRadio on the headunit and keeps playing audio. Any insights?

Hello everyone. I have a new AVIC 5000NEX, while I love my new investment I can't seem to get some things right. The message " Incompatible USB " appears when I connect my Iphone 5 to the USB 1 or USB 2 port. I also have the VGA (RGB) cable to get the AppRadio experience. I am able to get AppRadio and the supported apps but I get that message when I click on the USB icon on the screen. Any insights?
