  1. Hi, everyone. I have an AVIC-D3 with the BTB-200 bluetooth module. I also have a Google Developer's phone, which is basically an unlocked T-Mobile G1. Yesterday they introduced their official 1.5, or "cupcake" build, which I loaded on my phone. Much to my surprise and pleasure, I can now play music through my phone via bluetooth!

While not nearly as detailed as, say, the iPod interface is, it still supports basic functions such as pause, play, skip tracks, etc. The sound quality is not bad. A direct source, such as an iPod or CD, sounds clearer, and there's an audible hiss via bluetooth. Still, I only notice it when I'm not moving - with road noise, etc., it sounds (to my ears) virtually the same.

Though T-Mobile still hasn't officially announced that they're going to have an update, most signs are that they'll introduce an official update soon. I also found that there's a build available if you've "rooted" your G1, though YMMV. Proceed at your own risk :)

  2. Then I have one for you. Show me your stuff! 2001 Lincoln LS. We want to find a reverse sensing lead. Can't use the reverse lights. They have 12V constantly applied and use the CAN Bus to ground the circuit and turn them on. Can't use the transmission switch because it's a 5V reference signal and the Z1/2 resists down to and wants 10V. So what can be used? I was thinking of a relay and trying to control it with the 5V reference signal off the tranny selector switch. But I REALLY hesitate to tap into any circuit that goes to the CAN Bus or ECM in any way. You guys have to have crossed this bridge before.

I just found this from the lincolnvscadillac.com forums:

The LvC forums are also a great source for help specific to the LS

  3. Sorry, bmg, but you're still wrong. No matter how you word it, a POI does not equal an Address Book entry. A POI is associated with a category, while an Address Book entry is not.

Here's a real world example: Let's say that a restaurant opens up down the street from my house. It opens after the release of the Nav discs, so it doesn't show up in my D3 when I search for restaurants. Sure, I can add it to my address book, using a variety of methods (including the one you describe above), but it still won't show up when I search for restaurants. Therefore, it's not a POI.

Let's use another example: Say I create a trip on a PC, similar to what you describe above. I load it with motels, gas stations, etc. Great - now I have a nice little itinerary of waypoints that I can import into my D3's address book. However, the D3 can't recognize the categories of the waypoints I import. "Chuck's" might be a gas station or a restaurant, but I can't tell from my screen. These waypoints are not POIs.

Maybe you think we're being too picky, but there ARE units that can do true POI importing. It would really suck if someone came across this thread, think that the D3 really can do true POI importing, and make an $800 mistake.

    In summary:

YES, you CAN import Address Book entries

    NO, you CANNOT import POIs

Oh, and in HiFi's defense, I can't see anywhere he says or even suggests that the D3 can't import address book entries.

  4. Hello, everyone:

I'm getting ready to install a D3 in my 2002 Lincoln LS this weekend. It's the "audiophile" edition with a factory subwoofer, powered by it's own amp in the trunk. As you know, the subwoofer/non-fading RCA outputs have left and right jacks. However, the harness I have has only one input.

When the D3 is set to subwoofer mode for those outputs, is it smart enough to output mono to both channels (meaning I only have to plug one connector in, leaving the other one unconnected), or will I have to get a Y-adapter?

    Thanks!

(FYI, here's a picture of the aftermarket harness, in case the description above is unclear: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=120705517)

  5. This could be perfect timing then if this rebate is legit.

I was going to buy 3 D3s this weekend with some friends.

bnluigi: Where did you find this pdf rebate form?

I am a pioneer dealer so I had acces to rebate, rebate kicks off today, I just installed a d3 last week to my personal car. :D But Misfit posted first, I don't want to hijack thread :lol:

Also I guess the fine print on rebate means nothing :(:(:lol: Crutchfield is offerring the rebate, but they will mail it to you

Thank you for the head's up, bnluigi. I placed an order for a D3 through Crutchfield this morning, and was just able to change it to the D3X :)
