  1. Yes, I did purchase it from an authorized reseller. Audiovideodimension.com. They were great to deal with and very good pricing. I didn't have the screen off and I did try touching the screen all around but nothing helped. It is not cold here, maybe 45 F in the am. It has not happened again lately but I will be watching it.
  2. Anyone have any idea why my D3 is blacked out in the morning when I start my car. I could hear things happening, stereo was playing but the screen was totally black. I had to reset it to get the screen to come up...? Maybe a defective unit... It's only 3 weeks old. Thanks in advance!
  3. I think I've got it. The brightness has to be adjusted by turning the wheel up or down just like I would for the dash lights. I thought it would automatically do it when the auto lights came on but it doesn't....
  4. Did that hookup to the headlight switch work. I hooked my illumination on my D3 to the switch that dims and it did nothing. My hardware settings still show there is no change whether the lights are on or off. Anyone have any ideas? This is an 07 GMC Sierra 2500HD Classic... I'm totally stuck.
  5. I've got the illum wire hooked up to the GMOS harness for my 07 GMC 2500HD. Problem is the hardware profile on the illum does not change when the lights go on and off. Not to mention when I go into the settings to put it on "nightime" mode it doesn't even change then. I'm sure there is something I'm doing wrong. Please help... Also, can anyone recommend a good noise filter for my BU camera? Only get ghosting when truck is running, faint horizontal lines running thru display...
  6. I had a Sanyo BU camera and returned it for a Boyo VTL 300. With my truck off the rear view picture has no horizontal static lines. But with the truck running their is very faint horizontal lines running thru the monitor... Is this just noise from the truck? I checked the ground and the power is hooked up to the same harness I had the Sanyo hooked up to but had no lines. It's not terrible but there should be no difference between the truck running and off. I can live with it but I'm not sure if it's a function of the camera or D3 or just my truck...
  7. That's good to hear b/c my Sanyo is going back and I'm receiving the VTL-300 tomorrow... I'm looking forward to it!
  8. I currently have a Sanyo Back up camera that has the alignment mode and all. I like it but have nothing to compare it to. I'm not sure I'll ever really use the lines to park my truck so I'm not sure it's worth the $300. It has the same specs as the Pioneer camera so I'm sure the pic. is very similar. Has anyone had experience with the Boyo license plate camera? It has better specs but doesn't have all the alignment ability but again not sure if I'd use it. I went ahead and ordered the Boyo VTL300 to replace the Sanyo and now I'm having second thoughts. Has anyone compared the Boyo to either
  9. You are exactly right! I moved the antenna and it was good to go. Unfortunately I followed the advice of someone who did an install on this exact truck on Dieselplace.com. I put the antennae under the dash on a large metal piece. He said it would work and worked in his truck but it definitely did not work on mine. I ended up running the wire under my dash and up my weatherstripping on my driver door and placed it on my roof and it works great. These antennas are meant to go outside right?
  10. Okay, The GPS signal says "OK" and there are 8 little satellites next to the green antennae but they are not green they are a tan color. Next, when going down the road the speed sensor counter moves but there is no SLOPE or INCLINATION being shown at all. The 3D calibration shows nothing just that the sensor is "initializing", this after about 25 miles of driving. Now, here is the question. I'm wondering if it's the GMOS-04 harness that's not right 100%. I say this because the VSS, reverse wire and ebrake wire are all right there at the GMOS harness but when I hooked up the reverse wir
  11. I'll check the number of sats that are lit up. I mounted the antenna on a metal frame just under the dash per the advice of another that did the exact same thing and he had a stronger signal then he did when it was on the dash in the corner of the windshield...? I realize the incorrect harness etc... has nothing to do with the Pioneer. The vendor I purchased it from had my truck as a new body style GMC HD 2500 and my truck is an 07 but it is a "classic" which is basically identical to an 06. I was just explaining my level of frustration at the time...
  12. Yes, I tried that but it didn't help. Now, I didn't drive around for awhile with the West CD in so maybe that's something I need to do...?
  13. Okay, this doesn't look good. My unit will not come off LA. It won't even go to my location for a minute. When I put any destination in it calculates it from LA...? I'm in TN. This entire install has been a nightmare. First, wrong harness sent to me, Second, Peswips is not remembering programming, fit kit and antennae adapter were wrong and now this... Should I stick with Pioneer?? I almost bought a Valor but thought that would give me problems..
  14. This unit is brand new. I received it last Tuesday and put it in... The antennae shows a strong signal. I guess I'll be calling the guy I bought it from on Monday. Can you get me some more information on the exact nature of what Pioneer is causing the defect. I know the guy I bought it from will probably think it's due to my own install error or something. I did check the hardware tab and it all checks out normal. No install issues according to that and the radio plays normal and the BU cam works etc...? Let me know!
  15. The signal shows very strong and I did go to that 3D deal and I didn't see anything about progress of learning. I did hook up the illum wire to the GMOS harness so I don't know why it's not working... I did figure out how to turn off the screen.
  16. Yes, I've done that. How long do I have to drive around until it registers. It keeps going back to LA. I've driven probably 25 miles so far and it still isn't changing. I've even tried resetting and going thru it all over again and it still doesn't recognize it... any ideas or is just a waiting game for it to recognize it? It took about 10 miles for the clock to update. It's annoying that you cannot just go in and put in the time. Also, do you know to just make the screen black, not that grey and white stripe. The radio station screen is way too bright at nite, very annoying..
  17. I just got my D3 in this week and I started it up and put in the EAST CD since I live in TN. But, my map shows like I'm in LA, California...? Can anyone enlighten me? I set my home address and it still defaults to a view of LA...? I cannot find anything in the manual regarding this issue... It also took forever for my time to correct itself. Is this normal? My GPS antennae shows strong signals.
  18. Hope you are right... Yes, I'm going to set the Sanyo up with all the alignment stuff and see if it's truly worth the $300... I read Pioneer has one coming out that will do the same thing but it will be $400. At the moment I'm not that impressed with the picture quality. Not sure if its the monitor setup but the picture is not as clear as I had expected. The one on my wife's Toyota minivan is much better. I know the Sanyo is a 1/4 CCD with 270K pixels. It seems to be a little staticky at nite and almost blurred during the day...
  19. Yes, I did that but it still didn't work. There is a reverse wire that is in the wiring harness to the camera brain that has a brown wire that was supposed to be hooked up to the reverse wire on my GMOS-04 Harness. I tried it and the camera wouldn't work. Bad harness... It is supposed to make everything easy and give you all the wires right there, parking brake, VSS, reverse wire etc... but the reverse wire did not work. I then bypassed the harness and went right to the reverse wire by the BCM. Camera then worked but only worked in reverse and not even when you hit MAP, view etc... Basically,
  20. I finally got my D3 installed with a Sanyo Back up camera. Real nice setup but I've read on here how you can switch back and forth between using it as a backup but then when you are going down the road you can hit a button and look behind you...? Am I way off? Crutchfield told me I can do one or the other if I have a 12V switch on the reverse lead but then I have to remember to hit the switch every time I put it in reverse... Any way around this? I was hoping I could view my trailer if I needed to while going down the road... bummer. Crutchfield says it's a function of the D3 and not the came
  21. I really have no clue. I know it's got the GPS on it but I have not read a thing about it yet. I guess there is no sense of connecting the Mute wire from the GMOS-04 harness to the Mute wire on the Power Harness because I'm grounding it anyway for the bypass..? Sorry, I was asking tblazin22s. I perfer to use onstar interfaces that mute the radio verses turning it off b/c of the lag in rebooting the radio after the onstar call has ended. Also, make sure you move the mute wire to the empty spot before grounding it or the radio will stay muted all the time and not by-passed. Yes,

  23. Okay, it's been a day... Found out after two hours of messing around the vendor sends me the wrong Harness for my truck. Then I go and get a GMOS04 at circuit city, start wiring it up and directions say a wire is there that's not there. Call tech support and they say, sorry it's a misprint... So after pulling my dash apart and getting ready to be done I find the vendor sent me the wrong fit kit for my truck, it's double din but the fit kit holes line up for 4 holes and there are only 3 in my dash for the radio... So, 8:30 at nite, truck is still torn apart, I have a Sanyo BU camera to brin
  24. Great to hear so I'll tape off the parking brake wire and the mute wire on the Metra harness and ground the mute from the HU along with the parking brake wire and I should be good to go. Is it not a good idea to use one ground point for my harness, backup camera and radio. Should I use multiple point. I connected with a scotch tap my ground for my camera and put it right on the ground for the radio... Not smart...?
  25. Just received my D3 and have been struggling all morning with what turns out to be the wrong harness. 07 Classic GMC Sierra, Bose but no onstar... I was told I needed a GMOS LAN 02 but turns out I needed a GMOS-04 Except for a misprint in the instructions it all seems pretty good because I don't have to tap into the VSS behind the cluster or hit the Reverse wire because it's on the harness. Here's my dilemma. There is a wire in the harness for the parking brake. 1. I should not hook that up and then ground it, right? 2. There is a mute wire in the Metra harness I'm supposed to hook
