  1. I contacted Pioneer support and complained of the keyboard on my 8000NEX not responding properly to each press of the keys when entering an address or destination. Sometimes the key presses register and sometimes I have to press each button multiple times before it finally works. They said this is the first they've heard of the problem, but I know others have had this problem and have posted about it on here. Pioneer tried to duplicate the problem on one of their units, but couldn't.

Who else has noticed thus issue since the 1.06 update and if you have, can you please contact Pioneer Support to report the problem? Thanks. Also, I have updated to 1.08 and the problem still persists.

  2. Touch calibration seems off on keyboard when entering an address in the built in Nav (not CarPlay maps). There does not appear to be any way to recalibrate the screen on the 8000.

Entering an address is an exercise in frustration since this update. Characters are ignored, requiring multiple presses to get a letter or number to register.

Yep, this is very frustrating.  I'm experiencing it too.  My girlfriend used a lot of 4-letter words while trying to type in an address on a recent road trip.

  3. Everything is working as before on my iPhone 6+.  I really don't use that much stuff though.  I generally just plug the phone into USB1 and play music using the steering wheel controls.  I did have one issue where the whole system got confused.  I got a phone call, unplugged the lightning cable, and answered the call.  After that, all sorts of stuff wasn't working right.  Next time I got in the car, it was all good.

  4. Ok hopefully you all can help me settle something. Ive been getting the "improper connection of parking brake" message, usually 2-3 times - every time I'm in the car. My buddy says it's because of how the bypass works and the Pioneer seeing the parking brake grounded when the head unit starts. But from what I'm reading here, some of you (or all of our and just did not mention) have seen this message, but it is not as common as my vehicle. I've spliced the parking brake wire into the head unit side of the harness at ground, and the vehicle side. I have soldered the connection. I'm about ready to go and do my own chassis ground just for parking brake. But before I tear the car apart (AGAIN!) I thought I would ask. Again it's not a problem if the screen is coming up, but it's just an annoyance and leads me to believe there is something wrong with my connections (or the unit itself?). Any feedback would be great!

I have the 8000NEX unit installed, just bought it about a month ago. I'm pretty handy with wiring, I've been in the mobile electronics industry for awhile.... so I know good wiring techniques from bad ones (at least I hope I do at this point). Just one of those situations that is making me scratch my head. My buddy butting into the situation is making me wonder more of what's going on in the background. It would make sense that anytime the vehicle would see movement it would want to lock out certain features for "safety", but with the bypass enabled it just wants to give you an annoying message?

Any feedback for peace of mind, whether I'm the cause of the issue or something else, would be great. Plus I've talked to the shop I bought the unit from and they said if I can figure out if it's something to do with the unit, they would let me return it and get a replacement. But I don't want to just blame the unit first, in the event it is something I did or another factor.

    Thanks!

I wired my parking brake wire the same way you did and I get it maybe once every 10 times I get in the car, if that.  I thought it was kind of weird too and was considering the same solution you were.  At the same time, I'm not sure I care enough.  I might wait until there is a good mirroring option for my factory backup cam before I tear the dash apart again.  Kill 2 birds with one stone.

  5. If that $1billion was referring to hardware sales alone, that equals ~10million units sold. In 2013 (when that figure was from) there were around ~120million households in the US. That means there was less than .01% adoption rate in the US and those figures are worldwide.

I'm confused (not unusual) about the math here.  Are you saying that ~10million is .01% of 120million?  By my math that's a little over 8% which seems pretty decent.  Maybe you were referring to something else?

  6. All together with installation I feel like I paid too much $2,300.00. (8000nex, a bunch of modules, rear monitor, and installation)

I can't really help you much with the problem you're having, but I'm amazed if this is what the average person is paying for these HU's.  I just purchased mine (off Amazon so I guess no warranty) for <$1,000 and have paid a little over $100 for wiring harnesses (forward harnesses to prevent cutting any OEM wiring) and steering wheel control module.  I won't have any rear monitors, but my install should be less than $1100 all said and done while retaining all aux/USB inputs in my car and adding one additional USB input.  Sorry you spent so much and are having trouble with the features.  Hopefully the unit is able to do what you're wanting.

  7. So if this requires HDMI as was mentioned before, does that mean it won't work on the 5000? I'm trying to decide between the 5000 and the 6000. I kind of figure I'll be just fine with the 5000, especially once Carplay is released. Is there anything I'm really going to miss out on by going with the 5000 vs the 6000 once we get the firmware update with Carplay? Sorry for the slight thread jack.
