  1. Did you use an SD card or USB stick? I can't get mine to recognize the USB stick!

I'd been having the same issue lately, usb stick would show a circle with the slash through it (7000NEX, not 4100NEX) via USB stick but Ok via SD card.

Not sure if USB should be a viable transport vehicle.

EDIT: I take that back.  I troubleshot it down to the CAMERA taking the pics.  I have an older Canon elph (7MP to tell you how old) that any pic I take on it lets me use as a splash screen on my radio.

But if I try to use a pic taken with my iphone 6S+, the picture just has the circle with the slash through it when I try to use it as a splash page, like its in the wrong format or something.  I resized it down to 800x480 but no dice.

I don't remember having this issue with my iPhone 5S.

Is there a tool that makes pictures "compatible" with the NEX headunits automatically?

  2. Well, I just took the plunge and updated. The update went fine and, so far, I notice absolutely zero difference. Boot time seems exactly the same. But, I guess it's good to be current.

Would you mind confirming your GPS was reset back to factory?

Also, did you have the bypass enabled before / or if not, does it still work now?

I'd like to give it a try this afternoon.

  3. I have a 7000 and never saw that.

Tell us more.  What was it doing right before it stopped working?  Did you do anything out of the ordinary?  Has the radio been exhibiting any non-standard behavior prior to this complete failure?

Temperature changes in your area recently where the radio operates? Firmware updates attempted?  You get the idea.

  4. The problem is with your subscription. Note that you have a SiriusXM tuner, and their site shows the channel lineup for Sirius tuners.

I had this problem too, and argued with several support agents until they changed my subscription to one that includes the extra channels.

    Now I get them all.

Thats not what I mean.  I can physically type in say "310" on my head unit and the radio tunes to that channel.  But if an artist I have an alert on, is playing and I get the pop up message with the "Jump" button... if the song is playing on any of the xtra channels, the head unit goes all weirdo on me and goes to one of the lower channels, NOT playing the artist.  The pop up with the jump button shows the right xtra channel that the artis is on, but I just cant push jump (if I want to get to that channel).  I have to cancel the alert, then manually type in the channel number.

Again, if hte alert is on a lower non-xtra channel (200 or below), the jump button works as you'd expect, jumping you to the channel where your artist is playing.

I can manually tune to the 300's but it won't "jump" to the 300's. It's a bug in the Pioneer.

    Correct, exactly this.

I'd love to get a video of this behavior, but unless I'm sitting there with my phone out, video caputure 'at the ready' it just comes up too quick.  Add to the fact that its probably a bad idea to attempt trying to take a video of my radio while at the same time trying to drive :)

Maybe next trip I'll tell my wife to drive and have the phone at the ready ....

  5. Glad this thread is here.

I have plenty of 4:3 pictures obviously.  I just want to load one of them as a splash picture upon bootup, but up until now, the 4:3 picture would be ever so slightly stretched out left to right.

So based on what I've read above, I need to crop the picture to be a 1.61:1 aspect ratio.  Then my pics shouldn't looked stretched out sideways, correct?

  6. I have an AHA-4000NEX with an SXV300 and I'm seeing the exact same problem. I think Pioneer will need to fix it with a firmware update.

Thanks Philtor.  I was hoping for a confirmation such as this... essentially its probably not the XM unit, but something about how the pioneer head unit is interpreting the info coming from the XM unit.

And you have the even newer model SVX300 (when I have the issue on SVX200).  So the thing in common is the Pioneed HU.

  7. So you are saying the problem is with my XM unit?

The point of my post is I'm not sure how to troubleshoot the problem, or where the issue could be.

I will say the issue has persisted with the pre-carplay firmware as well as the current 1.08 firmware.

And yes I'm aware of the lifetime transfer (I had transferred my sub off an old lifetimed sirius radio to get it onto this xm tuner), so I have 2 out of the 3 transfers left on this particular sub.

Has anyone else had the tune select / artist alert feature work properly when one of your artists is playing a song on channels above 300?

  8. So I have a 7000 NEX unit and have the SXV200V1 add on tuner for SiriusXM.

The tuner works great but from day 1 with it, whenever tune select would alert me to an artist on a channel, when I hit JUMP, if the artist is on the Siriuxm "xtra" channels, I'm never actually taken to the right channel.

For example, say if I have an artist alert for tom petty and the heartbreakers set up.  If a song of his shows up on channel 26, when I press jump, it brings me to channel 26.

But if he's on channel 312 (the Tom Petty buried treasure channel), EVERY time I press jump, it'll bring me to channel 56 the highway instead.

The box that pops up knows he's on channel 312, but pressing the jump button ALWAYS jumps me to the wrong channel, but consistently the wrong channel.  Like in my example above, whenever an artist is on 312, it'll jump me to 56.

But again, if the alert identifies an artist on any channel below 300 (the 'xtra' channels are 300 and up), the tuneselect jump feature works great/normal.

I'm thinking this has to be a bug in either the SiriusXM tuner or my head unit.  But I'm not sure who's at fault.  Can't swap out the siriusxm unit either as it has a lifetime sub on it.

Been trying to get it on video but the artist alert comes up randomly (of course) and I never have a chance to whip my phone out fast enough before it closes.

  9. So I received my radio back from support about 5-6 weeks ago.

The issue occured twice so far but over the past 3 weeks has virtually disappeared.

Not sure if its because I'm using my remote starter every morning so the radio is already 'warmed up' by the time I get to the car (we've been in the teens most mornings in January).

But there have definitely been times where its been around 30 degrees (where I speculated the issue occured with bluetooth not staying connected) and I've been totally fine.

All in all, I'll consider the issue closed.

Side note, I got the radio back and there was no "this is what we did" kind of letter.  I guess I was expecting that, but just got a typical shipping label stating my radio was inside and that was it.

If the issue comes back for some reason, I'll try the 'turn off auto connect' feature.

  10. how do you have the phone connected to the radio? What I mean is if you go into the settings and go to smartphone settings is it set for IPhone, connect wireless via Bluetooth, or is it set as IPhone connect via USB?

Its connected in settings as iphone "connect via bluetooth".

I called Pioneer tech support erlier today and explained the situation.  They said to send it in, as they'd never heard of the issue before.  They said they'll look at the bluetooth chipset as a starting point.   Its still under warranty so I'm going to unearth it from my car tonight and send it back tomorrow.  2-3 weeks turn around :( to be with my stock radio.

I had even updated to ios 8.1.1, no change.  Yesterday was 40 degrees when I left, no issues.  Today was 31 and it kept disconnecting for the first 10 minutes.  Then once the radio was "warmed up", it connected normally, and for the rest of my commute.

  11. one thing i did was to go to bluetooth settings and remove my phone from the setting and had phone forget the nex. then i paired again using a code other than the default 0000. after this, i never had it disconnect. there were times that i had to go to bluetooth setting (after I would stop at a convenient store and get back in) on phone and hit connect, but it never disconnected on its own.

    I'll give that a try.

For a quick update, this morning it was 26 degrees.  I had yesterday deleted EVERY bluetooth connection on my phone and repaired it last night.

This morning it connected OK but it only connected via the phone bluetooth protocol.  Stereo bluetooth did NOT connect (aka i still heard my music through the phone but if i got a phone call, that would route through the radio).  I went into Settings > bluetooth (on the iphone), found the NEX entry, tapped on it and that connected the stereo bluetooth protocol and i was up and running.   That was the first time the radio ever did that (half connect,  phone audio, but not stereo bluetooth/a2dp etc).

I'm thinking I'll try to pair my work iPhone (same iphone 5S, running 8.1) to compare behavior over the next few days.  AKA if the temps are the same in the morning (to keep my temperature theory going), and I swap out the phone, that will rule the phone out as an issue... In other words if my work phone has the same issues, i can point to the radio being at fault.

Also, I saw in the radio settings there was something about clearing the bluetooth radio memory.  Anyone play with that feature?  I might try it too.

  12. I've had a AVIC-7000NEX since August and up until about 2 weeks ago, it was working well.

Radio is at 1.08 firmware / latest out as of this writing.

Rewind to about 2 weeks ago and 2 things happened, I upgraded my iPhone 5S, from 7.1.2 to 8.1.  We also have had extremely cold for stretches of time for the first time since I got the radio (in the 20's, teens etc some overnights).

Symptoms started after I upgraded to iOS 8.1 in that:   Start the car.  Bluetooth tries to connect.  It will connect for a moment (I see my address book), then it disconnects.  1 try.

I then go to the settings > Connection and then tap my phone's connection to try and reconnect.

It will light up (indicating its trying to connect) and flash bright / dim / bright / dim.  My bluetooth indicator on the iphone will do the same thing.  Eventually it will stop and stay disconnected.

So then I try and reboot my phone and it seems to fix it.

    Troubleshooting done so far:

Delete the bluetooth pairing on the phone and radio and reestablish - same behavior

Wiped iPhone and reconnected - same behavior

wiped and restored from backup - same behavior

After I get disconnected, I disable bluetooth on the phone for about 30 seconds and reenable.  Tap Connect and it still doesn't stay connected.

Other points to consider:  I had the issue (it connected then disconnected) and I drove for 5 minutes to stop for coffee.  Get back in the car (did NOT reboot my phone) and bluetooth connects OK once my car starts up.

Had the issue another day, drove to work without any bluetooth connection (7am or so).  Work my full day.  Get back in the car around 5pm, start the car and it connects no problem (did not reboot my phone).

So it got me to thinking,  we had a cold snap around the same time the issue started to occur (very cold in the mornings, temperatures in the teens and 20s when I leave in the morning, and itd be in the 30s when I left for work in the evening).

Could the TEMPERATURE of the radio be causing a problem with the bluetooth chipset in the car?

Point to consider:  I tested this theory today in that when I started my car this morning, the bluetooth connected for a split second, then disconnected.   I waited about 10 minutes and then went into the Connections of the radio, tapped on my phone and it paired / connected for the rest of my commute.

If the radio's temperature at super cold is causing the issue, then it stands to reason that after a few minutes of the radio operating, that the components would be warmer.  It then could be theoretically concluded that, that is why I could then successfully get the bluetooth to stay connected.

I throw this out to the community for thoughts, suggestions or has anyone seen this behavior?  If it'd be helpful I could make a video of the radio behavior when this occurs and post that for a visual.

  13. Now that 1.08 is out, the same question comes up again: Is the bypass still working in 1.08?   :)

Quoting myself, I took the plunge and have been running 1.08 and the bypass is still working.

My history is: bought the 7000 unit in August, shipped with 1.01.   Upgraded to 1.06 (bypass still worked, I did NOT have to redo the steps).  Upgraded to 1.08 (bypass still worked, I did not have to redo the steps).

And regarding Bobec's comment above, I've *never* received a warning about my parking brake wire not being hooked up properly.  I have the parking brake wire twisted with the radio ground wire and both of those connected to the harness adapter ground wire (using butt connectors, no soldering).  Been working flawlessly.

  14. So the unit has performed flawlessly over the past week +, so I'll chock it up to a one-off event.  And if it comes back, well then I have the warranty.

Enjoying the unit over all (playing around with app radio, HDMI input etc) and just await airplay.

Thanks for all the replies earlier.
