I bought a wall plate with all 3 adapters in it and then just took them out of that. I got it from Radio Shack. I did this because now I can hook up a PS2 or anything else right in my center console. True, there is a hookup right in front, but I thought this looked cooler. Plus after installing the D3 and moving around the Ipod cable to different places, I wanted to keep doing more, so this sounded fun. haha

In my center console, I have wired up jacks, so when I have something I want to input into the D3, all I have to do is plug it into my center console. Let me know what you think!
The next two photos are with my laptop hooked up.

I have never installed any time of head unit in a car. I had it installed and bypassed in one night with no problems.

Just wanted to say this forum was very helpful. I bought this system and planned on putting it in myself. I had no idea what I was doing do to the fact I have never done anything like this before. I know have the unit installed, with the ipod connector and everything works perfect. Also I have the bypass working and had no problems setting it up and I still have had no problems. I do not have the reverse signal nor the vehicle signal hooked up. Great product!!!
AVH-4200NEX issue with detaching faceplate
in NEX Series

I have this same issue.
I have this unit in my Jeep. When I have the top off, I always detach the faceplate when I get out. Sometimes when I drive to work in the mornings with the top off, it is cold, so I blast the heat. The vents are right below the unit.
Every time I blast the heat and then try to remove the faceplate, I have this same issue. When I try to remove it after NOT blasting the heat, it works fine. So I am assuming the motor gets too hot or there is some type of temperature protection.
