  1. I'm still having this problem - I have to turn the display off at night because it's so bright.   As I wrote last year, it was going into night mode when the lights were on, then it stopped working. At some point it was working again for a short time  I've got the dimmer wire tapped to the cigarette lighter illumination +12V, so I know it's getting +12V when the lights are on because I see the cigarette lighter illumination. The firmware has been upgraded a couple of times, so in addition to new software, it's been reset at least twice.  Anyone else have this issue?

I'm reluctant to pull the unit and send to the black hole nightmare that is pioneer warranty support, but I guess I might have to.   I might buy a cheap unit to tide me over ... I don't know if I can live a hole in the dash and no tunes ...

  2. My car's harness (02 CLK55, comand 2.0) doesn't supply illumination so the common practice is to tap into the wire that illuminates the cigarette lighter - it's +12V when the lights are on.  It was working, now it's not.  I only changed it once, so I don't recall exactly, but I'm certain that on the picture adjustment > dimmer page the icon changed from sun to something else (moon?) when the headlights were on, switching between day/night settings based on the voltage on the illumination wire.  I pulled the HU and checked the voltage - it's still +12V when the lights are on, 0V when off.

Am I missing something?   Is there some diagnostic mode I can kick the thing into?

  3. Thanks for all the replies.   By 'stream' I mean BT streaming.   The main reason I swapped out the COMAND unit from my recently acquired 02 CLK55 was so I could BT stream again.  Well, that and the ever-elusive CarPlay.  I use iTunes Match but I usually wait until I've got WIFI to fetch albums, and only occasionally downloading an album when LTE'd.

My last car had a single-din Alpine unit and I never found navigating music all that practical - I used the phone. I've just (partially) installed the NEX6000 iand haven't played with it much - one this I noticed is that while I was getting album art when playing through the iPhone the other day, I'm not now.  That's what I was researching initially, then thought WTF I've got a 32gb mini sd card laying around, why not give it a whirl.

In any event, from what you all have written, I'm inclined to skip the sd card.     I did just get an hdmi cable and digi av adapter before my final install and will try appradio since it looks like CarPlay is a ways out yet ...

  4. I usually stream off my iphone, but would like to give a sd card a try. If it works out (if navigating through albums doesn't drive me crazy)  I'll move up to larger a capacity device.  Can anyone recommend a workflow to get selected albums from itunes (on mac) onto an sd card, properly sorted, with album art?  I've done searches, found mention of drivesort (I can get to a PC) and making sure album artwork files sizes aren't too large.

    Thanks - Mark
