Interesting...do you know where that setting is? I searched but without luck.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Oddly, the screen appears after the engine is fired up. The truck is still in park with the e brake on.
Also, there's no view of what's behind me from the cam...
I should note, my back up cam isn't working right now. Not too sure what the installer failed to do...
Any ideas?

Hi All,
I just had my new Z130 installed with the bypass. Everything seems to be working fine (except for the backup cam and dimming of the nav map when my headlights are on...which are separate issues).
On a few occassions when I started up my truck, a message appears on a black screen with white letters. It states something along the lines of "Be aware your picture may appear backwards (or reversed)."
I don't recall the exact verbage. Any ideas why this would be displayed? Does anyone know how to remedy this?
Again, it only happens on 2 out of 10 times I started the vehicle. After the screen passes, everything appears to be working correctly (and nothing to my knowledge is backwards).
Any help would be appreciated.
Best Regards,
Kris

Makes perfect sense...Thus the connector that has an open end on it (in the video..)...
Thanks!

Ok...call me stupid...After I connect the yellow mute wire, the parking brake wire, and the ground together, do they still need to be grounded to somewhere metal on the truck? Or by putting them together, and attaching a connector to it, that suffices for it being "grounded"?

The HU comes with its necessary wiring harnesses that plug in to the back of the unit. These are model specific and are different than the Z2. An "adapter" would be used to interface with your vehicle's factory radio harness. The Pioneer harness would connect to this, rather than cutting and splicing your factory wiring. If you had (and still have - after the jerk) an adapter for your vehicle, you will need to cut/splice the new HU harness to the adapter wires. You'll still need to connect things like VSS, PB, B/U, ILL that may not be part of the factory radio harness.
Thanks for the help! This clarifies it quite simply.

Hi All,
Looks like a fairly simple bypass. Call me stupid, but can you tell me if I have to buy each wire adaptor? Or does it come with the unit itself?
Secondly, I had an AVIC Z-2 that was bypassed. My truck was broken into and the jerk stole the unit. Can I reuse the adapters? Or will I need new ones for the Z130BT?

Hi Everyone,
Have the opportunity to purchase the DDX7017 for $350 from a friend. I looked online but didn't find a lot of information on this unit. I suppose it is an older unit.
Any feedback/advice pros/cons?
Thanks in advance.

Polarity will depend on the reverse feed for your car, and has nothing to do with the bypass. You need to determine if the reverse wire is + or - when the transmission is in reverse.
Thanks. how would I go about doing that? If the cam works, would I assume it is fine with the setting it is on?
FWIW, I drive a Toyota Tacoma 2007.
TIA,
Kris

Make sure the following is done:
1 Touch [Camera Input] in the System Settings menu.
2 Touch [On] to turn rear view camera setting on. Unless this setting is [On], you cannot switch to Rear View mode.
3 Touch [Polarity] to select an appropriate setting for polarity. Each time you touch [Polarity] switches between the following polarity:
• Battery — When the polarity of the connected lead is positive while the shift lever is in the REVERSE ® position
• GND — When the polarity of the connected lead is negative while the shift lever is in the REVERSE ® position
Do you know which is required when bypass is installed on the Z2 (Battery or GND)?
I left the polarity where the original factory has it (dont recall which one it was) and the cam works. Just want to make sure it shouldn't be something else.
Thanks,
Kris

My Z2 has been locking up upon bootup.
I downloaded the update firmware and burned it to a CDR.
I put the CDR in the Z2 and it started the update process; the process continued; it copied 92 files. The screen then said that the update had failed and that it was restarting. It repeats the "failed, restarting" message as long as it is powered up. Disc in, disc out --- no difference. Power down and power back up --- no difference.
Any ideas?
Same thing happened to me. Pioneer said it was a normal incorrect error message. He said to wait an hour or two which I did not have.
I left the disc in and drove to work. It constantly kept cycyling saying "failed, restarting". Finally, after about 15 minutes, it downloaded one more item from the disc. I believe when it is restarting, it is checking the 92 files it downloaded...could be wrong, but I waited, and now it works fine.
FYI.

Anyone else have issues downloading the file yourself? Unzipped the files to my desktop and didn't find a "AVICZ1_HD1" folder...found the Basefile.dat but not the folder...am I missing something here?

Hi,
Went to the Pioneer website to download the firmware update (I have a unit built July 2007) and was unsuccessful.
Downloaded the zip file, extracted it, and was told to copy the "AVICZ1_HD1" folder and the "Basefile.dat" file to a CD. Found the Basefile but not the AVICZ1_HD1? Any ideas? What am I missing?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks...I had no idea...

I dont think you need to unlock your hard drive for the Z-2...I think that is only for the Z-1....
Correct me if I'm wrong....

Hi,
Purchased my unit, NIB, on eBay for $1200 shipped....not sure I would recommend it as I have heard many horror stories.
If you do choose to buy from eBay, ensure you pay by paypal.
Also make sure the seller has 50+ sales, and a 98% or better rating. This will cover you up to $2000 for any purchases.
Hope this helps.

use NERO http://www.nero.com
and you may wan't to try this update
you dont need the bypass files there included in this 1 also
If you use the above link...it instructs you to just download two files...AvicZ1HD1 folder and the basefile.dat...is this the same in the megaupload link? Just curious....Thanks in advance.

I have a z2 and.....
Is this method different for than that of hyperite's? In his method you'd have to unlock your hard drive. Is that required here as well?
Appears you just have download the blue tooth update and then do the 2 wire bypass...is this blue tooth update similar to that of hyperite's below:
Anyone? Please confirm...I am installing this unit on Friday....

Hello,
Looking to buy the bluetooth adapter for my z2 and noticed many people don't like the bluetooth capabilities with the z2.
Please explain your pains. Should I just not buy the adapter?

Suprisingly Pioneer's "flagship" model is not as good as a lot of people say....disappointing as mine is in the mail on its way here...
-
They can be had for even cheaper than that on eBay....
In regards to paypal...if the seller has over 50 (i think that is the policy) and 98% or better feedback, you as the buyer, is covered up to $2,000. If these are not met, you are out of luck....and only covered up to $200.
FYI...

Ok...stupid add on question...i'm new so please forgive me..
Is there a difference between teh two links?
If I understand correctly, I can take the first link, download the 30gb file and burn to a CD, then use the second link for the 2 wire by-pass...both are required.
Please confirm my assumption.

Kris

Haha. Sorry, I misunderstood.
I changed that setting, I thought it was a different setting by how you described it.
