  1. wish mine came back with 1.10. I'm not even going to think about updating it.

    When I got the new unit from them I told them to update it before they sent it. They said they left a note on the account and would have it updated.... Well I got it and it was not update. I ran the update from Microsd ( 5000nex ) and it went threw with out issue. The time when I updated and it bricked the unit i was trying to update over usb. How where you guys updating it when it bricked your units?

  2. What did you send it in for?

    When I tried to do the very first software update too it got stuff at the black upgrade screen. 1.01 > 1.01 is what it would say. could not get past it. even tried a new sd card at the time with the software dd' to the new card. that didn't fix it either. I let it sit in the house for 5 months before sending it in because they told me it would cost me my shipping plus around 90$ for them to fix it since it was a software issue and was not covered under warranty. When I did send it in it was 2 months b4 the warranty was going to be up. Long story short all i had to pay was the 60 $ to ship it too them. and then the rest of the story is in my other post.

    Yes But they were still telling me it would cost 90$ to get it fixed since " Software is not covered " under their warranty. So I didn't do it until like a month before my warranty was up I sent it in and they said that the part they needed to fix it was on back order so I kept calling every other day and they eventually sent me a ( Open box / Returned ) Radio. Only cost me the shipping to send it to them. I'm afraid to update it to the new update because I don't want to have the issue again. When I had that issue I also downloaded the full system Dump that you can find online and I dd'ed it to another sd card and put it in it and that didn't work either so it was something on board that got fried from the update  sorry for the late reply.

Same thing happened to my 5000 NEX last year, Had to send it in to pioneer to get fixed.... lets just say it was a nightmare dealing with them but after being told i would need to pay 90 $ to get it fixed they ended up sending me a referb unit. Cost me 60$ to ship my original unit to them though...

  5. same things been happening to my 5000 nex... One way to save you time is to just take the radio fuse out of the fuse box and put it back in. That way you dont have to tear your dash apart every time it does that.  Mine does it once every 2 weeks or so. All wires are fine on mine... This was a replacement unit from pioneer... I just hope it last long enough until the parrot comes out.

  6. At Least your unit still works. When I tried to update my 5000Nex to the first car play update it bricked my unit ( no cause of mine ). Called them back when it happened and told me that its a software issue it is not covered under warranty and that it would cost me at least 85$ plus shipping to get it fixed.... its been 2 or  4 months since. Iv tried 20 thumb drives and sd cards. tried all the different updates and nothing. still a brick and i still have not sent it in for repair because paying that for something the update did to it is bs. I think that will be my last pioneer 2 din unit I buy. Hope you get things sorted out.

  7. same thing happened to me on the first carplay update but what mine did ( 5000nex) is when it was doing the update it did its restart of the unit like its suppose to and then it says reading Please wait and then after awhile it says 1.01 > -1.01 and then fails iv tried 10 different usb drives and mini sd. I also tried the different nex updates that  have been released since. called pioneer at the time and they told me it would be at least $80 plus my shipping to get it fix since it wasnt covered under warranty and I said that was bs since it was their update that killed it. Moral of the story its a paper weight on my desk as I have refused / havnt sent it in yet.

  8. In case anyone is following this. I talked to Pioneer. The tech wanted to know what brand thumb drive I was using. It was Sandisk Micro cruiser. He told me the hidden .trash folder on the drive could be the issue. I used a freebie 2gb drive I got at a conf and the upgrade went thru without issue. Sounds/looks great. Now the second drive also has a .trash folder but I made sure to empty the trash on my Mac before I ejected. I think this might have also helped.

    Thanks I tried this again with 3 thumb drives and 2 sd cards and still getting the same thing.. I found a system dump online and will be trying to start fresh. Will update how that goes for me.

  9. It seems as though most are not happy with the install of CarPlay and have been having all kinds of problems.

     

    I am guessing that Pioneer or Apple will not address these issues very shortly.

     

    So I am on the fence about even installing the update. I love my NEX 7000 the way it is, but still want CarPlay as an alternative function.

     

    Once CarPlay is installed, do all the standard NEX functions still work as before, or does CarPlay affect these in any way?

  10. During the upgrade to the 1.06 firmware I got a error message that basically says press the home button and wait for HU to auto recover. The HU never auto recover and tries to install firmware again but now it says upgrading from 0.00 to 0.00. Regardless if I try to go thru the USB or the SD card it just fails and the whole process starts over after I hit the home buttons.  I tried anything the manual says about reseting to factory and I get the unit out of this loop!  Any advice or help on how to at least get it to recover by to Factory  default?  I thought maybe I could try install the 1.02 firmware but I can't find posted anywhere.  HELP!

    I was told by pioneer that I would have to send it in. :"( but im going to see if I can get them to email or link me to a copy of 1.01 because mine acts like its looking for 1.01 not 1.06

    Email pioneer support the same thing I posted here and I got a replay back saying

     

                 " Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

                     I'm sorry to hear you are having problems installing the map upgrade.

                     From the information you provided, it appears there is an internal problem
                     with the unit. You would need to send the unit in to Pioneer for service.
                     Use the link below to begin the repair process."

     

    So that is were I stand for now. Plain on taking the unit out of the dash tonight to try and cut power to it all together and see what results I get after that. Will keep posting updates so if anyone in the future runs into this problem they have some info to go off of.

  12. Hi all long time lurker first time poster. As you all know the new car play update came out for out units recently. I went to run the update from usb drive in usb 1 and it went through the process up to the point were it reboots and ever since its suck in that recovery ( black screen white text ) ever since. Have tried other usbs, different formating, re downloaded firmware, micro sd, other usb port, nothing seems to fix it, All it will do is say reading this may take awhile then it says failed. If I hit the home button to try again it shows 1.01 --> 1.01 and 0% as soon as it hits 1% it instantly says failed. Tried with car running, car off, moving, parked. no matter what nothing does it. Also when the unit boots even with nothing plugged into it instantly after the NEX screen it goes to the black recovery screen. Has anybody had this and or any suggestions?
