  1. I was actually wondering too. After a long research I can tell you that at this point, there is no way to transfer the phonebook via BT from the iPhone (At least I couldnt find anything).

I suggest you do what I did, use another phone which is compatible to transfer the phonebook.

    Hope this helps.

  2. This is actually very weird. I recentley received my unit back from Pioneer (Had it fixed) but the one of the issues is still present. I am wondering why ...

The problems is that the ADRESS SEARCH is ALWAYS grayed out. And when I try to get GPS guidance by pressing on some point on the map, ti tells me ROUTE CALCULATION WAS NOT POSSIBLE. Even if I click somewhere right next to where I am.

What could this be ? Avic is properly installed, and brake wire is properly connected. I have another barain unit, should I try to switch them ?

  3. Well, as we all know the D3 is DivX capable. The problem is, everytime you stick a DivX movies in, the unit says "Cannot be played". This also the case for movies encoded in any other format, XviD, mkv, mpg, mpeg ect.

We also need to be able to see those videos FULL SCREEN on out units. After about 2-3 weeks of research, noone was able to provide an answer on this issue. Well, I was able to discover that Pioneer put a simple

DivX decoding profile and will not decode movies encoded with Divx 5.x or higher. Those are the steps you need to follow to have your D3 play DivX in FULL SCREEN.

    A. Download and Install Magic Video Converter 8.0.2.18. There is a serial number included. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ckxl6f

    B. Start the program, and select TO AVI

Before proceeding with conversion, you need to setup a few options. They only have to be setup once.

    pic2yn2.jpg

Choose your output folder, Click the little arrow next to profile, and click ADD.

Pick a name for the profile, it will be unique to your AVIC-D3.

    Change Codec to DivX

    Change Audio Codec to MP3

Click on VIDEO TAB and make sure to change the outlined settings !

Click on AUDIO TAB and make sure to change the outlined settings ! Click SAVE !

Add a video file and click CONVERT !

Once conversion is done, burn on DATA DVD or CD and test it out !

Works for me, I coverted hundreds of music videos !

    Good Luck !

  4. LOL,

I live in Canada in the first thing I saw when everything got installed is Los Angeles.

Look, it takes time for the computer to process and map you where you are. Make sure the cd of your region is in (East or West) and that you have GPS reception. If you do, leave everything as is and drive around. Eventually it will update and you will have functional GPS navigation.

    Cheers,

  5. Hey all,

I recently installed my D3 and I have a question about DiVX playback. I tried to search and couldn't find a clear answer.

Will the D3 play ALL DiVX files ? Or only the ones that were encoded with a certain version on the DiVX codec "?

Also, if the file has been encoded with XviD will the D3 play them ? It seem that they need to be modified, can anyone share some knowledge on how to mod them ? Software ?

    Thank you in advance !

  6. It's as easy as it sounds my friend. You need to park the BREAK WIRE.

In your Avic system the is a light green brake wire, it's even marked ! You need to ground it. By grounding it, i mean connect it to the ground. You can use the black wire in your car's harness.

Maybe you should pay someone to install and bypass it for you.

  7. Thank you for the reply. I am going to order the flex cable and the faceplate. I'll change it myself. Looks hard, but i DON'T want to pay Pioneer for it (unit is out of warranty). I mean, i've done similar things before so i'll take my time while changing it.

As for the software, i have the N2 and N3 software (N2 original, N3 backup) and they BOTH don't work. So im thinking there might be an issue with the brain unit. I have another one im going to try as soon as i get it fixed.

    Thank again for the reply.

  8. Hey guys,

After only 2 years of having the unit, i have PLENTY of problems with it, I would like to share them with you in hopes that someone can help me find a solution instead of paying Pioneer $1000 to get them fixed for me.

    1st problem:

The screen is about 1 inch out and does not come out, now i've read on the stiky that it's a FLEX cable problem, and I will probably be able to change it myself, but pioneer's site seems to be out of stock, any idead where i can get one ? ( I live in Canada ).

    2nd problem:

The seems to be some kind of a problem with navigation. I am not sure if Avic's have some sort of flash/hdd memory, but when i try to plan a route, if it's longer then 3-4KM avic will give me an error message saying that Route Cannot be calculated, also, everytime when i take out the NAVI dvds, and i try to press the BLUE button, i have the "Please insert the appropriate disk" message, so it seems like it's not storing some information somewhere. Any idead how this can be fixed ?

    3rd problem:

The volume knob, doesn't seem to be responsive. When i try to put the volume higher, sometimes it works, sometimes it lowers the volume and sometimes it doesn't work at all !! I really have to press the know towards the sides to make it work. Any ideas here ? Flex cable as well ?

    4th problem:

This is not really a problem, just be being stupid. I had the faceplate in my poken once, and the know that changes songs and albums (on the right) fell off and i lost it. The only way I could change songs was by using the touch screen but now that's out as well (problem 1). I would like to get a replacement one, do they sell them ? Or i have to get a new faceplate ?

As you see, if i send my unit to pioneer service departement, I am looking at at LEAST $800 and I am not ready to spend that much. PLEASE HELP !!!

Any suggestions will be GREATLEY appreciated !!

  9. Hello everybody,

I recently downloaded the West Coast CD and the East Coast is stuk at 40% for two days now. Can anyone please share this ? Or seed ? Or direct send it to me so i can seed it to others who need it ? Please reply or PM me !!

    Thank you in advance !
  10. My friend had the same problem with his Avic-N2. The fix is pretty simple. It seems that he did not ground the MUTE wire properly (I beleive it is the Black/Yellow wire coming from the harness). The wire is usually connected to your cellphone kit if there is one installed. What happened is that when he would hit a bump of some kind, the wire was shorted against something causing the unit to think that the was a MUTE singnal sent from the cellphone kit. All i did was, i removed the unit and properly isolated this wire. It's been 3 weeks since and NO PROBLEMS. Try this, it should work. !!

    Hope this helps !!
