  1. From the "home" screen, select the icon for "A/V", which should give you a grid full of various A/V sources.  Select "Camera View".

I thought I tried that before and the screen I was presented with did not have any sources/cameras. Will try again after work.

  2. I purchased the pny 256 gb for my 4000nex, interesting you got it to work with fat32 file system. I tried fat32 and my 4000nex wouldn't read the card, so I formatted to NTFS and it worked fine. I think it came formatted as exfat and I think that might have worked, I dont really remember, I do know though that I formatted it to NTFS and it's been working that way for over a month now. At first it was organizing albums by the id3 track number tag thing (not the file name) but after adding some more albums all of a sudden everything is now alphabetical by the id3 track title tag. I tested this by changing the file names of the songs (im using almost all flac music) and the sorting did not change so I changed a few albums track names to 01 02 etc and now those ones are in order. I don't recall changing any settings.  Since we can't have playlists I resort to getting creative with the Genre id3 tagging and then just play a Genre.

  3. On the back of the unit the lightning cable has to be connected to usb port 1 which i believe is the top port. Also, do you have the latest ios installed? I am on ios 8.1.2 on an iphone 6 but it works fine for me. I have a 2014 impreza and i purchased an adapter that connected the subaru arm rest usb port to the usb port on the back of the pioneer and then i use my anker lightning cable plugged into the subaru arm rest to my phone and carplay works just fine (4000nex).

  4.

Reverse camera, HD Radio, and bluetooth audio all seem to work as expected.  I like being able to turn on the reverse camera without putting the car into reverse.  It really amuses my son to watch that while I'm driving.

I have the 4000nex connected to a backup camera and it displays fine when shifting into reverse I often wonder if i could enable the  camera while driving forward, I have it connected to continuous power but i couldn't figure out which menu option or whatever I need to adjust to select the backup camera image. Can you describe how you did it? We should have the same menu options..

  5. What phone are you using?

iPhone 6 on ios 8.1.2 I also noticed when using the NEX app on the headunit there is like no commercials almost (have only heard 1 so far) and I can skip a basically unlimited amount of times. Maybe its the version of Pandora I have on my phone thats causing this, i dont really update apps if there isnt an issue with them.

ONLY thing that I can't get to work right now is pandora app. before i flashed it pandora required BT and a USB connection, after the flash it ONLY wants BT connection but I don't get any audio, the app launches i can skip songs and the time ticks through like its playing but no audio.

Do you mean BT OR a USB connection? I can use the Pandora app on my 4000nex over USB just fine and bluetooth is disabled on my phone.
  7. Are you using SDHC CARDS because the cards that are larger than 32 gig are SDXC are not compatible.

This is only partially correct, it depends on what file system you format the memory card to. I have a 256 GB PNY SDXC and it came formatted to exFAT which is supposed to be better compatibility for memory card devices however the memory card didnt work in my 4000nex. I formatted to NTFS and now the card works just fine, it can read all tags for all my music files and everything. I wouldn't be surprised if I still have the 15,000 file limit though and I think there is a 7,000 folder limit.

As for k peters13, have you tried both fat and NTFS? maybe your unit has a bum sd reader if all cards have the issue?

  8. I have the 4000NEX, and I like the total removable screen, along with the passcode to render the unit useless to a thief. I purchased the nav add on AVIC U-260, and quickly realized, I hardly ever use it. I do not understand why the higher end units do not have the removable screen. I have been more than happy with the NEX and all the inputs available and how everything works.

Where do you configure the passcode on the 4000nex?

  9. Regarding #4, my 4000nex had an "illumination" wire which you are supposed to connect to your cars headlight switch. You should disconnect it from the headlight switch and make your own switch, that way during the day you can drive with your headlight on and then when you flip your switch it dims to night mode.  Regarding everything else, Pioneer won't change anything.

  10. I just tried googling for that, but couldn't locate it. Do you have a link to this by any chance?

Yes, I posted there because I have just purchased a Subaru and was going through the Car Audio section and found someone else was thinking about buying the unit. You can see his post here http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=43184112&postcount=16

When I pressed him about where did he read that, he replied with this http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=43185490&postcount=24

So i guess you just have to take his words for what their worth. I really wish I could do Appradio unchained like a rooted android (control my phone from the touch screen) but we'll never see that with Apple :( I guess all I would really want is Waze, hopefully ios9 brings more CarPlay apps and updates to CarPlay itself.

  11. I'm not an iOS developer but we have hundreds of developers who submit apps to Apple. It's not an easy process, very tough to get something through. But yea, maybe Pioneer doesn't have a competent/capable person who can design/submit an iOS app that can reliably pass Apple's stringent vetting process.

If that was the case then why did they have no problem getting AppRadioLIVE on the app store? And their AppRadio app has been on the appstore a while and was updated in February and from what I understand about updating apps, Apple has to review it again every time you submit an update...

  12. If there is little to no difference in price, I would go with the newer obviously, but if it ended up being 200-300 difference I would either wait and see what all can be done with the 4000 firmware (there will be at least one more revision coming to us to fix things that were promised a year ago... or else class action lawsuit) and potentially the ability to copy the 4100's firmware to the 4000 (if they TRULY are hardware identical) at some point.

What things were promised a year ago that need fixing? Someone posted about avicsync which is a subscription based service, doesn't sound that great to be honest.

Also, someone on a Subaru forum said you can run the 4100 firmware on the 4000nex but you lose a couple things but they weren't sure what exactly. I installed a 4000nex 5 days ago and it is a little quirky but overall I like it. I found a review on Google and the guy got a 256 GB sdxc card working and since the unit has flac support that provides a ton of lossless audio. I haven't noticed any degradation of music compared to using my cars stock clarion head unit so not sure what Tekki is referring to. I have played music over bluetooth, "ipod" over usb and then also using Carplay "Music" icon, all of them sound just fine/great. The person helping me install the radio even commented on how well the music sounded. My car seems to have pretty decent speakers so i'm sure thats part of it as well.
