  1. I have an Pioneer AVH-4100NEX, and everything has been working fine last couple of months.

All of a sudden, when I plug in the USB on my phone, the head unit doesn't detect it (it still charges my phone through the head unit so I know the connection is there)

Even if I launch Android Auto manually on my phone (Nexus 6), it loads as if it's not connected to a head unit. Bluetooth audio/phone connection to the head unit still works.

I rebooted the phone but that hasn't helped. Anyone else having similar issues?

Also, is this the best place to post about this? I wasn't able to locate Pioneer user forums other than this one.

    Thanks

  2. Hey guys,

So I'm really interested in getting  AVH-P8400BH, but in reading reviews here and there it sounds like people have problems with these so I wanted to get some more feedback.

For, I want to make sure it can do what I really want it for... can I stream YouTube video from my Android phone, to this unit?  I see there is that AppRadio app but not sure if it can specifically do this.

My phone doesn't have "tethering" available (I'm grandfathered into an unlimited data plan, which I'm trying to keep). Possibly I can try rooting my phone but that's another story.  So the bottom line is I won't have a Wi-Fi hotspot.  I need to stream content / music FROM my phone (ideally via bluetooth)

Otherwise I see this has the other features I want (streaming bluetooth audio, an input for a read-view camera, hands-free phone etc)

So right now my main concern is being able to stream YouTube (and music in general, such as from Spotify, iHeart, Pandora) FROM my phone,  and the quality of this unit in general, as I've heard of it freezing up and other problems.

Also, to get warranty from Pioneer on a new unit do I have to buy from an "authorized" dealer? (sounds like yes),  Wondering though if I get a square trade warranty if I buy from a different source if that might be a good idea in case the unit breaks or has serious issues.

Are there any other companies that make similar head units (ie - Kenwood, etc) that I might want to also consider?

    Thanks for any advice.
