  1. My D3 boots up just fine and everything works great till I actually try plotting a new course of some kind. It will plot an existing course from my address book (apparently that doesn't get deleted in the update process) but when I select a loaction or POI it will basically lock up when it goes to actually plot the course.

The only thing I could think of was just to try re-burning the disc and see what happens. Maybe a glitch in the burn or on the disc...???

  2. Hey guys,

I had a guy I work with download and burn the update for me because I really don't know my head from my a$$ with all this stuff. Put the disk in my D3, it went through a short update process and I thought I was good to go. I noticed new roads and everything on my way home from work. Then I tried a vicinity search for a restaurant and it basically froze up. Same this happens when I try a POI search. I had a couple addresses saved already and it would map those but nothing new. It was also doing a horrible job of directing me from my local YMCA back home.

Can anyone help me here?? Something went wrong in the download I'm guessing??

  3. Hey guys, in the process of trying to install my D3 from my old car (used the unit for about 4 months total) into my 02' tahoe. Just hooked connections up to make sure everything was working properly and noticed the problem. Works great at lower volumes but if I turn it up or turn the EQ gains up the sound just quits altogether. The unit still has power, just no sound. If I turn it off and back on the sound will work again until the volume is turned up.

My tahoe does not have the BOSE system so I'm not using any amp interface, just connecting wires directly to the harness. I believe its just the upgraded DELCO system, 9 speakers total I think.

Can someone help me out?? Thanks

  4. I appreciate the info. I've actually been looking at that kenwood unit already. I've read mixed reviews on the nav software. Sounds like a great unit other than that though. I'll see if I can dig up some pics of the 03' trim install and judge for myself if I can be happy with it or not.

    Thanks again

  5. Really?!! I'm pretty particular about things looking clean as well but I wasn't even aware that you could go the route. I had to do some serious mods when I put it in my 04 maxima so I'm no stanger to that, I just really want that factory look too and that's why I was considering selling the D3 for a smaller unit.

I definitely need to look into that though! Thanks

  6. Hey guys, I just bought an 02' Tahoe and was planning to install my D3, that I had in my previous car for a total of about a month, in it. My buddy had a double din unit in his yukon and I just assumed my D3 would fit great in my tahoe...Little did I know the 02's-older have to be modified :(

I've read some threads on some guys doing it but I'm just real worried about cutting the trim piece and screwing something up so it never looks right.

So, I'm toying with the idea of selling it unfortunatley. Just curious what anyone thinks would be a good asking price for it? I hate to get rid of the thing because I hardly even got a chance to get used to it but I really want a clean look in my new truck. I think I paid $800 for when I bought it. If anyones actually interested in it hit me up at jroth142@yahoo.com and I'll shoot you pics.

  7. Hey guys,

I recently installed a D3 in my 04 Maxima w/bose. When I did the bypass I accidentally broke the little tab off the connector for the mute wire so I basically just shoved it in the new slot and it seemed secure. However, after driving the car for a day or two I got the "improper parking brake lead connection..." I initially thought maybe it was the ground but after moving that the car did the same thing, worked for about a day and then the same message came up. I'm now thinking that the mute wire might be the cause of this problem. Can you purchase those little tabs for the wires to connect to the harness anywhere?? Any other advice??

    Thanks

  8. I recently installed a D3 in my 04 Maxima. I performed the bypass just as described in the post and everything worked great after the hookup. About two days later I was driving down the road and got the "improper parking brake hookup detected..." message. I got back to check the wiring and noticed the wire harness with the bypass had come unplugged from the back of the unit. So I plugged it back in and it worked great again...for about two more days. Decided to check the ground and ended up moving it and once again the unit worked fine for another day or two. But once again I got the same error message driving home from work today. Any suggestions on what to check next? Is there any one of the connections that would specifically cause this vs another? When I moved the mute wire I think I broke the little tab off the pin connector because it didn't "lock in," persay, in the new location but seemed secure. Would this be the most likely source for my problem? Can you buy those little pin connectors at the hardware store? I have read all the posts on this forum but just wanted to see if anyone could give their specific opinion on my problem. Thanks

Also, I was never able to get a direct answer on the location of the vss wire in my 04' maxima se w/bose just incase someone has this info on hand. From what I've heard, this doesn't really effect the gps too much.

  9. So if the VSS wire is not hooked up will that mainly effect ETA's and things like that? Does the unit still track speed through the GPS or would I need to connect the wire for that too? If I could get a definate location and wire color for the VSS I think I could do the hookup up, just haven't found it yet.

Apparently my bypass isn't working correctly now though. After I started driving I got an error message about the parking brake lead not being hookied up correctly...suppose I have a loose connection somewhere : (

  10. Also, one other thing. Sorry for the dumb question but I'm assuming I want to splice into the wire going INTO the module and not going out? The only reason I wasn't sure on this is because I'm assuming that the SSV wire also go to the radio wire harness and I didn't know how all that wiring worked. So I just wanted to double check.
