I'd like to sign a petition to get the damn 4th gen ipod to work...
tell me about it.. i ended up trading my 20gb click wheel for a 4gb 1st gen nano just because i refused to buy a second one.
-
i used an 8gb super talent flash drive and pulled an image file off of it with no problems.. i have no idea about the format but i didnt change anything from when i took it out of the packaging.
-
i have to put mine in before i start the car in order for it to be recognized.. try that.
-
are you putting it in before you start the car?
-
I'm using an 8gb right now.

really check the wire harnesses. They take a good ammounbt of force to put in, and may look installed, but not. 10 to 1 thats it
I did this. I kept the radio removed from the dash while i tested it and the clip was fully in and snug.
Double check the mute connection in the harness, any chance that it's being grounded? It is grounded but I used the bypass.
The internal amp shuts down if there is a short on just one of the speakers or wire. Try disconnecting them all, and just hook up one at a time to determine which speakers is shutting it down. This seems like it must be the issue. I am going to remove the doors this weekend and make sure there are no shorts.
For the time being though.. it decided to work today.

installed the unit a couple weeks ago. bypassed the entire stock system because i put in aftermarket speakers. i am using the internal amp and have the speakers connected directly to the F700BT.
it worked great for the first 2 weeks. i went on a road trip and all audio cut out for like 10-15 min. i thought it was a fluke. it did it the other day again and resetting the system didn't even work. then it mysteriously came back on after i started the car a few times.
it just did it again yesterday and today (it's still not working) and i pulled the unit out to double check the connections and everything looks fine.
ideas?
(i can't even hear the annoying beep from using the touch screen)

get the F and stick with a BT headset until the firmware update is released.
the BT quality is the only problem I've experienced in the last 3 weeks. everything else you mentioned works great with the F.. but Ive never owned a Z.

i wish they would release an official statement so everyone was on the same page

To be perfectly honest.. i think these problems are being blown out of proportion.. i was so mad i ordered one when i heard all the negative things..
I installed mine this weekend and have had ample time to see what the big fuss was about (its a 700bt by the way)
as for the phone stuff.. as long as your windows are up and the mic is in a good location (not near the speakers) it works as good as i would expect.
yeah the boot time can be annoying but what did everyone expect? 30 seconds.. it takes me about a minute or two to get situated in my car, make sure my garage closes, etc..
the voice recognition takes a few moments for requesting an ipod song but it depends how much music you have.. if you have 80 gigs of music vs 10 gigs, yeah its gonna take longer for the vr catalog to load.. this is not surprising.
personally, im really impressed with the unit but everyone expected something flawless because of all the hype.
Im very glad i got this over the d3.. imho the interface and potential is greater by 10 fold.

Will I be able to navigate via "Artist", "Album", and "Genre" like the iPod control? Or will I have to navigate through the actual file structure? How does it handle playlists? Can you build them and save them on the fly?
Also, the voice control doesn't work for USB does it?
Thanks
I have a gti and installed a 700bt this weekend..
Not like Ipod control, the nav unit recognizes folders so i would put songs from the same artists in their own folder.. make sure the file name is the song title so its easier to pick your song.
I have a playlist on my SD card.. its just a bunch of songs in one folder.
no, you cannot build and save on the fly, from what i understand.
no voice control.
to unlock the full potential of this unit you really need to use an ipod.

F-series model: 700BT
Phone make/model: Verizon Motorola Q
Ease of connection: Easy
Phone book transfer: Took <5 minutes for 100 contacts
Sound quality: Decent, the phone is 2+ years old though
Comments: Really simple to do the first time and nav recognizes phone about 1 min after full boot up

I just got my f700bt yesterday. It's not yet installed. Did you use the same cage and trim piece as the D3?
I called pioneer and several local car audio places and everyone says I don't need one but there is no way to secure the new unit in my dash and there is a substantial amount of room on all sides on the unit.
Thanks.
-
Yes, it does voice recognition for phones
There is no hard drive. The USB and SD hookups are for music/video
anyone know if the usb and sd media are controllable via voice command?
-
Interesting, I emailed the dealer i'm getting mine from and he said the following:
Just got off the phone with my rep and he’s hasn’t heard anything regarding the “software bug†and the units are on there way..so should start receiving them at this end of this week or next. So unless there is something he doesn’t know about, it’s just false rumor. Let me know if you can confirm this software bug, but there was no hold up on shipping the 700bt units. Thanks!

the prices were $699, 929, and 999

ok so from what I understand, if I am only concerned with music from my Ipod, the standard apple usb cable should work and still give me control over the ipod via touch screen and voice command?
