I just got my Avic-Z120BT and the ipod cable off Aamzon for less than $800 after the rebate.
Use code UIBMC8UY to get 30% off pioneer stuff. They also have another special to take 10% off when you purchase 2 pioneer items, then the $100 rebate on top of this.
Here's a screen shot of the 10% off page.

why dont you get the new version (blue one) of the SWI-PS so you can use the voice buttons for the function intended?
-
My update went as smooth as it could go. It was an error free install that took exactly 48 minutes.
-
why are you using the SWI-X instead of the SWI-PS? In my opinion, the PS is much alot better, especially the newest version (the blue one) there's no delay like there was on the previous version.

Great unit F90bt start up time sucks but remember it boots off a hard drive think about how long your PC takes to boot up. everything works after bootup
Still no excuse, I've had the Z2, F90, and now the DNX and the F takes over twice as long to boot up....unacceptable. It's Pioneer "economy" unit, they aren't going to put the effort into it as they do their flagship Z-series. (Direct quote from a Pioneer rep)

Kenwood all the way. I returned my F90 and picked my 8120 up a couple weeks ago and have not regretted it at all!!
-
Took mine back and got the Kenwood DNX8120. I dont know why I waited so long to switch them out, the Kenwood is SO much better.
Eff you Pioneer, you just lost a mobile audio customer (only because I have 2 of your plasma's).

not the same.
BTW, Pioneer doesn't consider going from the Z-series to the F-series (even the F90) an upgrade. I called them to express my frustration saying how an F unit should operate the same or better than my old Z2. They told me the F-series is an entry level and going from the Z to the F is a step down. It kinda pissed me off. I told them that I was gonna take back my F and get a Kenwood. The response I got really surprised me. He said, "Fine by me." Great customer service...

I just took my F90BT back this weekend and got the DNX8120 to replace it. While the UI isnt as pretty as the Pioneer's, the unit works flawlessly. I don't have a single regret upgrading to the Kenwood.
I had a Z2 before the F and now the 8120. In my opinion, the 8120 is the overall best yet.

Return it and get a Kenwood 5120 or 8120 if you can, you'll be much happier with one of those as your first indash navigation unit.
x2

Then you are clearly having more luck with it then me. People have done a great job fixing things like the blue boxes, etc. But for me those were way low on the priority list. I have crashes, and bluetooth problems, general sluggishness, etc.
I agree with this statement. Mine resets, drops the ipod, comes up with a windows error, and still has all the problems the others are having.

I just wanted to bump this thread so all these newbies that keep asking questions can decide to get one based off our hands-on experience. Don't say we didn't warn you!!!

Yes, namely the infamous green squares. According to the Pioneer rep I spoke with on the phone, they meant to leave them on there all the time. But when I asked him why would you want to leave those on the map when all they do is block information, he couldn't answer me. He just said they were intentionally left on the map.
-
I can't emphasize enough....HELL NO!! This a a sub par beta unit that should have waited a few months before it was released to fix all these problems. Also, the Pioneer customer service is a joke, especially when they say some of the bugs were intentional.
-
a pioneer rep told me that it will be a second updated and it will be released mid to late august.
So in real time that means October, right? Seems like Pioneer's calendar is about 2 months behind....
-
what purpose would pioneer think these boxes serve when the destination isnt being used. such a poor excuse to not hafta fix their mistake.
Beleive me, I asked, he said it was just the way they designed it...sure.
Now you know why it didnt come with a manual, it's so they can fix their mistakes as they go.
-
I spoke with pioneer about this problem among other issues and they mentioned the boxes are supposed to stay there, that's how they designed it. It's all BS if you ask me.
-
now is a great time to learn how to install it. match wire colors and solder/crimp them together, it's not that difficult
-
I have the same problem with my 8830. This is on my list of things that the update made worse. My fix for it is to take the F90 back and get the DNX8120, mine will be in next week.
-
when I called pioneer and told them about this (among other things) the rep said this was the first they have heard of it. Be sure and call and let them know what all is wrong.
-
wait until the "next" update for the F-series, see if they fix the crappy problems.
-
It's because the Z3 is NOT a new unit, It's basically a Z1/Z2 with updated maps and firmware and the like. It's in desperate need up a remodel/makeover. The F series has a higher resolution and better user interface because it's a brand new unit, where as the Z series has had the exact same design since the first Z1 came out, like 3 (or 4?) years ago. Whenever Pioneer decides to re-do (or replace) the Z series, it will most likely have an edge in design over the F-series just as the F-series has an edge in design over it now.
I totally agree with what you're saying and it further validates the point I was trying to make to the Pioneer rep. If the Z-series is supposed to be their flagship unit and the F-series is supposed to be the economy unit, why is the Z-series not superior in all cases? Why did they make minor adjustments to the Z3 compared to the Z2? Couldn't they have put the newer user interface on the Z3?
Regardless, I'm returning mine and getting either the 6620 or the 8120.

I posted this in another thread but thought i'd post it in the appropriate thread...
So I just got off the phone with Pioneer relaying the problems i'm having with the unit. I told him ever since the firmware update it has been nothing but problems. The main examples I gave were the touch screen being on a delay, my phone not staying connected, and also dropping my ipod.
He said that the firmware wouldn't have caused any of these to all of a sudden start occuring. He recommended to reinstall the software on the ipod. Yeah, right.
Next, I told him that I got rid of a Z2 to get this unit becuase I thought I was getting the superior unit. He informed me that the F series is an economy unit. So I questioned, "Why then disnt you put the higher resolution and nicer user interface on the the new Z3?" His response: "It won't fit on the screen. I don't know if you knew this but the Z has a different size screen." No shit.
And lastly, the one thing that just made me realize they really let this get out of hand, are the 2 greenish blue squares for the route that never go away. He said they were intentional and they ARE MEANT TO STAY ON THE SCREEN AT ALL TIMES. WTF?
After I told him that I was surprised they put this thing through R&D and were happy with it enough to sell it to the consumer, I kindly hung up telling him I'm getting an eclipse unit now.
Eff you pioneer.
