  1. man this really has me concerned about by 2006 ford fusion. I know there is a $130 harness for it. I have the cheap one though. Does anyone know if this is true with the 06 ford fusion?

I did get in an accident, rear-ended from 30mph with this installed an my airbags DID NOT go off. Just want to make sure thats normal :(

  2. yeah i posted about this a while back but never got a response... If you press the menu button within the first few seconds of selecting an artist and song it goes back one level... after you let it play it goes to the genre, playlist, etc page. Let me know if you figure it out!

  3. In my 06 Ford Fusion it has the delay where it keeps the stereo on ~10 mins until the door is open. I DID NOT use a harness as i wired it up myself. The delay is still there.

It has nothing to do with the stereo. The car simply cuts all power off after a certain period of time. No harness is needed.

That's not true. It depends on the model and year. Many Fords and Lincolns do have the feature implemented in the stock radios. They get the data from the CAN bus, or other data buses. Some don't have a switched power connection to the radio at all.

Your one experience with one car does not give you the ability to make a blanket statement about all cars.

I never said all cars... my first 5 words it says "IN MY 06 FORD FUSION"

    So chill out.

  5. When you select a song from an artist, it plays. Press the menu button within 30 seconds, it goes back to the artist's albums. After 30 seconds, it goes to the menu to select artist, album genre, etc. That's real annoying when you finish listening to a few songs on the album and you want to switch to another album by the same artist. You have to search for the artist all over again.

SO: if you do hit menu within the first 30 seconds, the menu button does do this. Could there be a hack/mod to make that 30 seconds longer?

That would be awesome and save so much time switching between artist's albums.

  6. No problemo. I will post some pics very soon.

I actually added a bit to it now. I bought a Zune dock with a wireless IR remote. I put the dock in my arm rest. Unfortunately the IR doesnt go through the arm rest so I had to wire up the remote with a extra IR cable I had. So now I can keep my Zune hidden in my arm rest and have complete control with the small wired remote. The Remote buttons are set up the exact same way the Zune buttons are, so again its total and complete control.

  7. So i decided I hate the ipod interface with the z2, even with genres as artists. It just takes too long to go through everything. It is so much quicker to use the ipod scroll wheel, and hook the ipod up through the av input or aux. BUT, then you lose the screen on the z2. If you use the aux in its just blank, and if you use the av input you get a black screen. That is what sucks about the iPod, it doesnt give you the UI with the TV out.

I did some reaserch on the zune. The zune DOES give you the UI with a tv out. So now i got the best of both worlds.... I got quick and easy access by using my buttons on my zune to control, and it shows all the menus on my z2 screen. I now get album artwork and everything else that you see on the zune player itself on my z2 screen.

The only CONS are: You cant control the zune from the z2. But as I stated... the pioneer interface for the ipod is horrible. It is so much faster and safer to use the buttons on the actual player.

I will post some pics later.

  8. So i was checking out the new iphone firmware 2.0 and saw a cool application you can download for it (yes you can now download applications for your iphone form itunes). It allows you to control your itunes and or apple tv from your iphone over a wiress network. It got me thinking about using a carputer. then that got me thinking about using a apple tv for all my music and dvds. Your iphone would act as your remote, which is set up just like an ipod.

What would this do? Well, you now have a better ipod interface with your z1- z3 because you can control it from your iphone, still see artwork, song name etc on your display... BUT you cant control it form the head. I could do away with not controlling it from my head since i can wirelessly from my iphone. It would also give you ability to store dvds and control thoose wirelessly too, again from your iphone.

So there are a lot of cool possibilities if you had an apple tv with a cheap wireless network in your car. pretty easy mod to do with wireing the apple tv and router in your trunk.

Then i looked at the video out and... HDMI and component out only. That sucks. A work around is a box that converts component to coax, but thats another $130.

    thoughts?

  9. So on another forum i user reported that he does have a wheel speed wire in the 08 Ford Fusion. Its blue/orange and it is in the d.s. rear. I tried hooking it up in my 06 fusion and i get no pulses.

Is it true that an 08 fusion has a wheel speed sense wire thats blue orange, and the wire in my 06 fusion that is blue orange in the exact same spot he claims is NOT the wheel speed sense wire?

This is getting ridiculous because im getting conflicting stories.
