  1. I used this update, to get to Igo8.3 -- viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26625

Then got the updated maps from here -- http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/sh ... stcount=14

You can find the world license and modified ezrider from the 2nd link too.

    Hi,

Many thanks - this worked perfectly.

Would you also happen to know what is required to get the TMC to work?

Until I get the Avic professionally fitted I just have it powered by the cigarette lighter power lead to the actual avicf500. Does the TMC only work if the cradle is powered?

    Thanks again,

  2. Hi,

I'm a newbie to the F500, so any help would be appreciated.

I would like to update my European Avic to the latest maps (2009.06). The unit is totally stock and has the following firmware:

    Map Version: 01.000700

    Version: 2.007000

What do I need to do to get the latest maps uploadaed to the Avic.. I believe I need a hacked Ezrider and a way to enter testmode... is there a how to on here? I've searched, but can't find anything so far about upgrading eu maps on a eu 500.

    Thanks,

  3. Hi,

I have just purchased a second hand Avic F500BT from here in the UK, the unit is a European model. I have the unit connected to my car via the cigarette lighter power lead, and it is attached to the cradle, then to the windshield. I have no other cables or aerials attached.

Everything except the TMC works.. when I go into the Destination Menu and click Traffic, settings, it shows (0.0 MHz) and the following items are greyed out:

    Exclude selected station

    Show excluded station

Any idea's as to what I can try to fix this?

I have read about a SYS. file or folder that might not be set to EU, but I am not sure how to view this file / folder and or change it, if that is the problem.

    Any help would be great,

    Thanks,

  4. Hi,

The menu you need to enter into is the "secret" service menu. I have an X1 (Europe's version of the N1), so I am not positive if you enter the menu in the same way, but for the X1, this is how you enter into it:

Remove any disk's from the headunit.

Hold reset and eject together, then release the reset button but continue to hold eject.

The screen will go in and the come back out. The screen will now say to press the reset button - DO FOLLOW THIS PROMPT.

Then with joystick, follow this, by moving the joystick in the directions below:

Up, Right, Up, Right, Down, Right, Down, Righ and then finally press the joystick inwards, in the center. Now, the password screen will come on for a few seconds followed by the test mode. At this stage, you need to move the joystick to the right (once).

Now, if I remember correctly, when you are on the first page in the secret menu, you are presented with the option of Remocon touch panel test. You then need to find the setup calibration option. Once you enter the calibration section, you should see a cross on the screen. Use a stylus or similiar and touch the centre of the cross as accurately as possible, you will find another cross will appear, do the same to this and all the other crosses that appear. Eventually, the monitor will tell you that you have completed the calibration.

    Hope this helps,

  5. Hi from a Newbie!

I have an Avic X1 (Euro model similiar to N1 I believe), which has been fitted in my 2000 Camaro SS (I imported the car from Canada), for several years, but now, it has no idea where I am.

When I go to the status menu, it shows no satellites being received, but says the position is OK. The VSS is hooked up and the hideaway unit is facing the correct way.

Does anyone have any idea's as to what would cause me to loose all satellites?

Also, as there are virtually no Camaro's over here, the shop that installed the unit made a bit of a hash of the job - so can I just check where you would suggest the hideaway unit and GPS antenna should be positioned, in a Camaro?

Currently, the brain is mounted upside down, to the underneath of the passenger seat - the unit is actually mounted to MDF wood, which is positioned over the seat rail.... and I have no idea where the GPS antenna was placed!!

    Thanks for any help,
