  1. I have AVIC Z2 40GB version and this software does not work. I burned the image on CD and DVD -R, but both did nothing when I put them in the AVIC Z2 no message or etc.

What I am missing here? any help would be appreciate!

  2. I have been trying to find the solution for the firmware update for AVIC-Z1 & Z2 for a while, because my AVIC-Z2 was victim of that upgrade failure problem for a while and it was a costly paper weight. I was loosing hope and nothing was working because i never left the CD in the navigation. The solution follows.

I called pioneer and they wanted me to send them the Navigation ( Don;t send the navigation to Pioneer).

    Solution:

    1. Leave the CD ( firmware update) in the Navigation.

    2. Don;t use your car for a day or two if possible.

    3. Update will run again automatically during startup and problem with be solved.

    IT IS SIMPLE IS THAT.

    HOW to Burn the CD.

    1. You need CD-R (not Rewitable or DVD) just plain CD-R.

    2. I used NERO to burn the firmware.

    3. Nothing special just like regular DATA CD burn process.

Guys i repeat don;t send the Navigation to Pioneer. You will waste time and money. LEAVE the CD in the Navigation, don;t loose hope it might take a whole week, but it will work eventually. But you got to leave the CD in the Navigation, i repeat leave the CD in the navigation, don't take it out. It can solve the problem any time, while you are driving or in the morning or evening when you are starting your car. Trust me

This Firmware Update solved big problems. My Navigation was used to get freeze at the startup all the time. Mostly on the startup screen, run this firmware and problem will go away. Now it is just like perfect, no HEAT issue nothing.

" What firmware does actually it lower the speed of the Processor so it will generate less heat at startup "

I hope this will answer most of the people facing this problem.

  3. Alright guys, i still have a problem.

As in the sticky it says ground the light green wire which is a parking brake sensor wire, not the parking brake switch wire. Well i bought AVIC-Z2 and it only has i light green wire out of the Power Connector block from the back of Z2, the rest of the wires are different color and they are for speakers. The light green wire i have said Parking Switch wire, so i ground it and it gave me ability to do every thing just like i should be with the factory installed or with out hack.

But once the car start moving above 5mph. It locks the ability to watch Movie and change destination, and i get message saying your parking brake wire is not properly installed, but once to click on the message goes away, but when you are on the traffic light standing still in gear not even in parking. All the options comes back, and as soon as you start moving again they goes away.

    My questions are.

    1. Where is the other light green wire behind AVIC- Z2 i checked all wires i could not find any light green except one which i mentioned up ?

    2. should i leave the parking switch light green wire ground permenantly ?

    3. It would not cause any damage would it ?

  4. Ducati Boy thanks for answering my questions, one last question.

Can i ground the light green wire with black ground wire. I mean attach these two wires togather, because black wire is ground wire, so it will ground the light green too right?

Or i have to ground it seperate ?

For the second wire i can ground it with black too ?

What i am trying to say here is i can attach all the wires like light green and the second wire (after adding one) to the black ground wire, which is part of the main block like you mentioned.

  5. Ground the light green parking brake sense wire from the Z1. If the light green parking brake sense wire is already connected to your vehicles parking brake switch wire, then disconnect it from the vehicles wiring and then ground it. Do not permanently ground the vehicles parking brake switch wire, just the light green sense wire from the Z1.

Alright please correct me if i am wrong. According to this statement, i can ground the light green wire permanently but not the green wire ?

I have a AVIC-Z2, if i just ground the light green wire permanently and not do the second wire then what happens ?

Thanks for help guys, and can some one please post the picture of the light green wire, just want to make sure.

    Hi guys,

I just bought AVIC-Z2, and my car is Toyota Avalon 2006. I want to say thank to this forum members for their help. I bought AVIC-Z2 thinking that it can be installed by BestBuy or Circuit City Audio shops, well guess what they cannot install AVIC-Z2 in AVALON 2005 and up. If some one can they were charging me $300 plus dollars for it, because according to them it is very very hard, because there is no DASH KIT for Toyota Avalon 2005 and up.

So i thought why i cannot do it, so my brother helped and thanks to this forum for their help and special thanks to Crutchfield for providing excellent wire harness for only $49.

Trust me it is easy as hell, don;t think you cannot do it. If i can then any one can.

    Here is a guide:

  7. Hi guys,

I just bought AVIC-Z2, and my car is Toyota Avalon 2006. I would really appreciate any help in terms of installing it and unlocking it. Best Buy is charging me arm and leg for general install.

My question is Can i install it by myself ?

What Wire harness or kit i will need in order to install by myself?

Does any one here has 2005-2008 Toyota Avalon with AVIC-Z series Navigation ? If yes can please post some pictures and help me out ?

Or Does any one live in columbia, MD or some where near can install this for me with unlocking also ?
