  1. There is a wire from your avic that hoooks up to the reverse wire of your vehicle (you need to use the wire from the avic harness because it has a resistor which I believe cuts the voltage to 5 volts instead of 12) and the camera will have a separate power wire that needs to see a 12volt source which you can wire directly to your reverse wire of your vehicle. This way, when you put your vehicle in reverse the camera will turn on and the avic will switch to the correct video input.

You probably would want to hook the Reverse wire up to a constant 12V source so that you could use the camera even if you are not in reverse

  2. You have a ground loop. I would make sure you have a good solid ground (just because it is metal does not mean that it is a good ground) Make sure yolur ground spot is clean from anything but bare metal (paint, grease, carpet)

If that doesn't help I would look at grounding your RCA's it is very easy and cheap. I would also recomend beefing up the big 3 under the hood.

The last thing i would say is to use a Ground Loop Isolator but it effects sound quality and is more of a bandaid on gunshot wound.

  3. I'm anti-Microsoft .. but broke down and got an XBOX 360 .. and am enjoying it ... Even if you are anti-Apple .. I recommend an iPod. I could not imagine my D3 without one ...

mbegan buy an iPod and don't worry about it or listen to satellite radio or regular radio. Are you against Apple for making products that work?

    no just anti-apple in general.

I guess i had more of a question as to weather that was a feature of the new maps or a bug specific to me more then it was me looking for product advice.

Can anyone else comment on the question? did they take out the nice disc folder browsing feature or did i have a botched update?

    Thanks

    -Matt

God forbid anyone answer the question.

My guess is that most people have an iPod and therefor do not use their DVD drive for much more then movies and the Nav disc. I know that is the case with me

  4. It will work for music but for video you will need to buy the adapter from Apple that plugs into the docking port which has RCAs on it. I am not sure about if you can use the headphone jack cable like you can with the video and what not

  5. I have a lightscribe dvd+-writter/ cd writter. Will this work for burning onto a dual layer dvd?? from what I'm reading on the net lightscribe and dual layer are different???

    thanks

    G

Lightscribe is a technology that allows your burner to also put an image or text on the top side of the disc, if you of course have light scribe disc. I use lightscribe disc for things like Proposals I send to clients instead of writing on it with a sharpie. A Dual Layer disc has 2 layers that information is written on the disc. I am not sure if their are DL lightscribe disc but your burner should be able to burn Dual Layer disc
