  1. Hey,

I am trying to activate my MSN direct service but I cannot retrieve the product key in order to activate it by just following the operations manual instructions. After I click on 'Status', the following message appears on the screen - "MSN Direct is connecting" - and it never gives me the key. Is this supposed to take long or instantaneous??

ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO HOW I CAN GET THE KEY TO ACTIVATE THE SERVICE?

    PEASE HELP!!!

  2. Hi,

Can someone please help me on how to activate my MSN Direct service which I am anxiouslly waiting for. Where do I find my product key?

I tried finding it like it said in the operations manual - going to Destination --> MSN Direct --> Status, then all I get is 'MSN Direct is Connecting', and the Product Key never comes up!!!

    Plz Help!!

  3. Please instruct other BB users on what you did because they seem to have issues with the F-series. If yours works well, they must be doing something wrong

LOL! I'll tell you what he did. He did a lot of reading of different posts, then he asked questions - some n00bish but never ones that were easily found by a quick scan of the forum.

Oh, and he listened when people answered.

To the OP, nice install. Something to be proud of, especially considering you said it was your first time.

THANKS A LOT! I appreciate your comment. Yea basically I have been on this forum since the begining of June and I was reading up stuff and doing all the research necessary. Thanks to everyone that helped me out and was patient enough to answer my questions. To all those that thought I could not do my first install based on the questions that i was asking - it just shows that doing proper research and asking the right question can get you a long way.

Regarding the connection to the Blackberry 8310 - here it is:

    1) Make sure that the blutetooth is turned off on your BB as well as on your Pioneer Unit.

    2) Turn on the Bluetooth Connection on the BB first.

    3) On the Pioneer unit - click on 'phone', then connection -> search for devices and then once it finds your BB, input the PIN on the BB to authorize your synchronization, then add the device.

AFter all of those steps, its pretty simple to follow the instructions that are given to you on the Pioneer AVIC/Blackberry unit to complete the connection.

  4. thanks for the info. Is there a special way that i need to connect the wire from the avic adapter to the antenna adapter. The tip from the blue wire on the avic adapter has this weird metal part attached to it. Should i just solder it to the blue wire on the antenna adapter and it should work as long as the metal is touching the blue wire or is there a special way of connecting the two??

It seems that i have a week connection because when i was driving around last night some stations were being caught but static, so i could it be that i have the correct connection but its too weak???

    THANKS!!

  5. Hey guys,

I was supposed to install my system on saturday morning, but I decided to come home earlier from work today (Friday) and install it before it got dark. I AM DONE!! except for the radio frequency that is staticky which i have to strengthen the connection i am guessing so that i will be able to properlly reciev the MSN direct feed.

Other than that ALL IS GOOD!! My bluetooth works perfectly with my BlackBerry 8310, and all of my contacts are on AVIC now. I can pick up calls and call from the unit as well and both sides of the conversation are clear. The TTS works perfectly on the navigation as well.

Just wanted to thank everyone that helped me out and answered my question promptly (although some of them were REALLLY newbie ones). I am glad that I installed it myself, and happy to be done installing my first system.

    THANKS!!!

  6. i guess i have to connect the antenna adapter correctly to the unit then....damn!!!!

I hooked everything up and everything works except for the FM and AM stations - there is no reception and its staticky.....

  7. is there a better (certain) way of connecting the blue wires together due to the different tip of the antenna control wire from the avic harness? or as long as the metal is connecting to a wire it should be fine??

    THANKS!!

  8. sorry i am confused by what you said...

Hook up blue and blue/white on the adaptor harness to the blue/white on the deck in order for the MSN service to get good reception on all sources. Just leave the solid blue on the deck alone.

i only had a solid one on the deck....the one labeled "ANtenna control"...

and my only blue/white is on the metra harness...

    Please clarify your instructions.

Based on what you said, i understand that i have to hook up the blue on the antenna adapter to the blue/white on the metra harness and leave the solid blue labeled "antenna control" alone..is that correct? OR is there somehting that i am missunderstanding.

    THANKS!!

  9. Hi,

The only wire left on my metra harness is the blue/white one, which is supposedly the 'Amp Ground' wire. The Power Antenna wire is supposed to be solid Blue (based on the legend provided by Metra at the back of the package), and I do not have a solid blue wire on the metra wire harness at all.

I do though have the vehicle antenna adapter cable as seen below. One end plugs directly into the system, but i am confused as to where to connect the blue wire that is right beside it. My guess is to attach it to the wire harness provided by AVIC that is labelled Antenna Control as seen below.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

  10. Sorry guys - this question is really basic but i just wanted to clarify before i go ahead and install the system so that I do not screw it up.

The BLACK WIRE (ground wire) where do i attach the end of it?

    The pic is below...

    THANKS!!!!

p.s. forgive the HUGE pic...the next one will be smaller.. :?

  11. so my assumption from here on is that the illumination wire is part of the metra wire harness...am i correct to assume that?

Also, NickyD32, I did not understand what you meant by your last sentence - "this only isn't needed if you don't have amps. it's easy to do..." - plea clarfy.

    THANKS!!
