  1. Honestly it has worked since day one, and it works very well. The idea sounded really nice too. But after about 1 day of having this I really never used it. I'm sorry, but it's very odd to be talking to your radio while someone is in the car with you.

Personally, controlling ipod functionality with your voice is the feature that makes the F series so desirable.

Now that the update has been installed, what's everyone's experience with this?

    Did it work fine before?

If not, did the patch help?

    How does it work now?

  2. That's what I did and it works flawlessly (almost).....except for the fact it displays some random album art (generally the first song on the iPod part of the iPhone) instead of what plays on Pandora....I'm kinda OCD like that..

If I had a second gen iPhone with 3G, I would seriously consider using Pandora full-time and dropping Sirius.

That's my plan, I'll let you know how it goes.

  3. Whoever said that doesn't know what they are talking about...I use the Poineer cable and it works great. No problems at all! Now if I can just get whatever that shows up on the iPhone to show up on the Poineer screen (mainly for Pandora/AOL Radio).

    4)Video off iPhone works!!

Which cable are you using? Apple AV cable? I´ve read that CD-IU230V cant show video from iphone...

    Thnkx

  4. I mean I would like the Apps to run on the iPhone(which they do currently), and the music to play thru the unit. Catch is, I would like to use the Pioneer iPod cord.

2)Can't figure a way to make Apps like Pandora or AOL Radio to work. I would really like that....It would save ton's of $ on buying XM.

Wouldn't both of those require that the unit have an internet connection? The only way I can think of that would work would be to use your cell phone as a modem, connected via bluetooth? Seem like if you can access windows you could make that work vut the unit would have to boot to windows rather than the normal GUI?

  5. So I'm gonna make this quick just to give some info out...

I just installed the latest updated and there is some good news...and a little bad (but they admit to it).

    Cons:

1)STILL A LONG BOOTUP! And NO I don't wait a couple minutes for "my car to warm up"....who told you to do this? It's 100 degrees outside. Maybe in the winter.

2)Can't figure a way to make Apps like Pandora or AOL Radio to work. I would really like that....It would save ton's of $ on buying XM.

    Pro's:

1)VOICE DIALING (Yes, I mean "Call Bill Smith") does work!!!!!

2)Music in in order you left it...not alphabetical.

3)Bluetooth pics up phone pretty well (sorry I don't know about quality yet, but really, can it get worse?)

    4)Video off iPhone works!!

5)Screen is noticeably brighter...I would honestly say 2x.

6)Touch screen might be slightly improved, but it takes about 5 mins to get everything fully loaded...Although it's usable after about 2.

7)VR catalog works well. It will catalog 12 gigs of music in about 2 min...then you can switch it off and it will remember it.

I'm sure there are other improvements, but i just wanted to check a couple certain things. I would like to here opinions on BT call quality. I'm still unsure if I'm keeping my unit, but I have to say they fixed a lot of things in this update.

Pioneer also wanted me to tell everyone "Thank you for being beta testers".

  6. So I ran a couple tests on my f700 with similr issues with bluetooth. When I am completely stopped and the car is not moving the bluetooth sounds great. When the car is moving that is when everyone complains of bluetooth "noise". My guess is that it is not able to filter the "sounds of the road". The vehicle I drive is a relatively new car, so I know I don't have sounds beyond the norm. Pioneer need to come up with a fix.....better mic.....better filtering...something. I mean the unit is nearly $1000, and it should sound better than my $50 BT headpiece..

  7. I tried searching for the answer, so sorry if this is a repeat question. Currently by unit says "parking break is improperly installed....." . It was installed correctly from what I understand (ie. no bypass). My question is for the people who have bypassed their units....does it give the "parking break is improperly.....error?

    Thanks for your help....

  8. I really don't think that was it. I have 2 iPOD's that are MAC formatted and voice control works fine. Maybe it was the just the reformatting and recataloging that fixed some glitch in the iPOD. I mean, I'm glad it works for you, but that might not be the underlying problem. The unit is "iPOD ready" which means, more likely than not, it's meant to be mac formatted as opposed to PC.

  9. + How is the F series' AM/FM reception and sound quality?

Awsome!!! I replaced my alpine with this and its 100 times better. get reception on channels that the alpine never picked up

+ How is the HD radio reception and sound quality?

Once again same as above!! Even with my glass antennea everything is MINT!!

+ How is the audio CD and DVD (audio of DVD, not "audio DVD's) sound quality?

The overall sound quality of this unit is through the roof. As an audiophile I am very particular about sound, and understand that in a car quality can only be soo good, but this for all the onboard processing it does the sound really is stellar.

+ When playing MP3s from disk, SD or USB HDD/Flash, how easy is the navigation? How do the ID3 tags work, okay? Will the F series show embedded album art?

Navigation is easy. browses through a file system. Album art if embedded in the id tag will be available

+ How good is NAV routing? How easy is it to program a destination? Can you program a series of destinations fora single trip?

Nav planning is easy and intuitive. you can plan routes

+ Can you program, & save for later use, your own POI's (i.e.; "Home", "Mom & Dad's", "Work", etc)?

    Yes

+ Has anyone tried the MSN Direct features yet (beyond Jason's video demo)? Any issues or concerns?

    Have the 700

What about the bluetooth phone quality?

  10. If you leave it on FM/AM then I would say it's takes right around 10-15 seconds to play. If you turn the car off using iPOD then it's more like 30sec to 1 min. And that's IF the unit decides to see the iPOD connected that day. (Sometimes my unit won't recognized my 5.5G iPOD and I will have to unplug it and plug it back in.)

    Hope this helps

  11. Well I can't make a call using voice control unless I tell it what numbers to specifically dial. So, I can't say "Dial Andy Smith", but I can say "Dial 901-294-3923". I'm using an iPhone and am not sure if the problem is specific to the iPhone. As for the conversation....I can hear the person perfectly, but the person on the other end can't hear me clearly AT ALL. Hope this clarifies.

  12. The call quality is terrible. It is always a problem. I have no idea if it is hardware or software, but if I had to guess I would say it's the poineer microphone. My microphone is mounted right at the top of my front windshield. It is pretty close, so proximity is not the issue. I would recommend NOT getting this unit unless the issue is fixed.
