so i just ordered the official 3.0 sd cards from pioneer because i thought i may have bricked my unit. did the first step to update the OS but couldn't get it to get pass the bootup screen because of the extra folders other than testmode and data that were on the card.
i've got about 10 min before copying all the files over.
does this mod/hack make ordering the sd card from pioneer useless? if so i'll try to cancel my order.

does this knob interfere with functionality? can I still move the knob in all directions for stuff like track skipping?
-
i would get a remote for the avic, but the avic has no infrared built in. so it's physically not possible. but i wish pioneer gave the option. it would make it way easier for for passenger deejays aka technically challenged hot chicks to control the stereo.

Did you have the same problem with the PAC? It'd be good to know if this is a common thing (even better if this turns out to be a good fix)
Yeah I was having the same issues. I posted them on the first page about the 5th post down.
I haven't found any time to delete the files yet. I'll try sometime this week.
-
AZFlyingDiver, I will try deleting the key beep files to see if i get can the same results, since i have the same avic installed in the same car as you.
-
i've only put an SD card in a few times. So it has not been in when the iPOD/AVIC is being moody.
-
i'm really glad someone else has issues with the PAC. I thought I might have been the only one since i didn't see any threads on it.
And I'm really glad the manufacturer stepped up to the plate. Good stuff.
I have 2 issues:
1.) as mentioned above, I have lag when pressing the button and the command being executed. sometimes the lag isn't that bad. other times it can take a few seconds.
2.) in addition to the lag, when the command is finally executed, the AVIC responds like i pressed the button a bunch of times when I've only pressed it maybe a couple times. I think this could be due to it thinking i've held it down? i dunno. but very annoying when i've pressed once to skip a track on my ipod. then press it again a couple seconds later to make sure it got the command, only to make the song in fast forward continuously. then i have to physically use the button on the AVIC to skip to the next track.
hope this helps a little to debug issues people are having

I'm up in the air as far as what theme i want to install. vista vs iPhone. but i was just curious if the usb pic for the iPhone theme gets replaced when the iPod is connected.
A few people have asked me for an iPhone flavor...this is what I've got so far...Top Menu (On-Screen)
Top Menu Normal
Top Menu Pushed
EDIT TO SHOW:
AV Icons (On-Screen)
AV Icons Normal, Pushed, and No Use

i've got the same issue. worked fine for like the first week of getting AVIC installled. but pre 2.0 patch and post 2.0 patch, the thing is so flaky with the iPod. there'll be times when i have to connect and disconnect over 10 times and still sometimes won't work at all. very irritating when playing music from the iPod is the most important thing for me. (13,000 songs). good thing i bought the xm module. i took all my cd's out of the car. no having to lug those around was another reason for buying the Ipod & avic.
anyways, i really hope pioneer recognizes this as huge bug they need to fix. where it's the quality of the cables or if it's something in the software.
on a positive note, it worked perfect when i left the ipod in the car all this week. but, today i took it out to listen to music at work. put it back in after work. same stupid issue. wouldn't connect at all!

i finally got sick of outlook on my phone transferring contacts to the avic last name first, even though i have them sorted by first last. so i put the first and last name in the first name slot.
well they are sorted now by first name now on the avic.
keep in mind i haven't been able to get contacts voice recognition since transferring after the 2.0 update.
so i tried removing the outlook formatting (xxx) xxx-xxxx. that didn't work. if the number was 10 digits, it automatically puts the formatting back in. so i put a 1 in front of each number and that won't put formatting back in. but voice recognition still doesn't work.
the only time i've ever got voice recognition to work, is when i did this hack: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18248
the only thing i don't like about this hack is this:
a unique numeric key is assigned to each contact. let's say you have 100 contacts. however you have them sorted on the avic (mine are now truly alphabetized by first name) that's how they get their unique key. so "anna" let's say is 1, and "zachary" is 100. now what happens when you add a new contact? that person, no matter what their name is, will have the unique key of 101. and that's where they go on the avic; after zachary. what a pain in the @$$. oh you could re-edit each contact in
http://www.sqliteexpert.com/download.html and move the unique keys and each contact up. but it's really not worth the time if you've got a ton of contacts. or maybe the solution is this: "hey girl. i know you're hot and everything, but i can't add your phone number to my phone. you're gonna jack up my sorting on my stereo!".
so i think i'll just keep adding contacts with putting a 1 in front of the number, and just use the touch screen to call contacts up? i will try editing the phonebook with sql lite sometime this week and see if there's a good solution when adding new contacts.

i failed to mention that i had a custom DCD rom from xda developers. I updated my rom last night. sync'd with the avic perfectly and was able to transfer contacts on the first try. i'm guessing the somehow the phone was in a bad state? maybe even just a hard reset on the phone would have done the trick.
by the way i didn't update my radio, which means the bluetooth version on my phone was is the same as when i was having problems transferring contacts to the avic. so again i think a hard reset to the phone might be the solution.

i sync with outlook. no sim card for verizon. i tried with and without enabling the serial port. and with the serial port enabled, tried secure and unsecure connection. no luck.
did you have to create an outgoing port? i've tried with and without an outgoing port as well. still no luck.
-
i've got the same issue with a verizon 6800 pda. before 2.0 update, it didn't transfer at first, but did on the 2nd attempt. i haven't had any luck at all after the 2.0 update. just getting that "no number found"....WTF
-
the only sources i really use are ipod and xm. sometimes fm. i've used cd and dvd, but not for testing this problem. so far ipod, xm & fm are the ones i've tested with that have the problem. but since these are global setting, i'm sure it's the same issue across the board with all sources.
-
My xv6800 aka HTC Mogul works fine other than the phone book transfer issue tons of people are seeing. 1 contact with multiple numbers = 1 icon on AVIC for each number and all icons for that contact have the same name. Pioneer needs of fix that ish. In the video's it says call "John Doe at work, home or cell?". Something like that. What a rip off.
The only way to get around this is to hack the phone book database on the AVIC. Hopefully it'll be in the next patch.

I find it quite annoying that you can't set the voice/nav volume relative to what volume the source is at. You have to set the voice/nav volume separately. Of course there's dynamic volume, but that's relative to what speed you driving at.
The reason it would be nice if it were relative to what volume the source is at, is when you have voice settings (mute/att/normal) set to normal. This way you hear the nav instructions over the music. And at the same time, the louder you turn your music up, the louder the nav instructions are.
Muting the music to give nav instructions every 5 feet is annoying. Att is a little more tolerable. But I like not having the music interrupted for a nav instruction, so I have mine set at normal. The only problem is the louder I turn the music up, the softer the nav instruction is. LAME!
Oh well. More of a venting post. lol
If anyone knows if there are options I'm missing, please let me know.
I think these units could have had a few more options built in. Like trying to find a POI by city. I mean how lame is that? I have to save a search criteria to search by city? Wack. I think it gives the option to search POI around gps location, search criteria, and something else.

thanks bro! I can't even tell you how disappointed I almost was. I was thinking now i'm going to have to retun the ipod for repair work/replacement, etc. I had no idea you can unlock/reset an ipod. i'm new to ipods, but now see why they're so popular. lol

I was just driving home tonight when hear this incredibly loud buzz. kinda like a .25 second loop of audio. Froze up the Avic! Pulled over to restart the engine to restart the Avic. Pulled my iPod out to see what was causing it not to show up as an available source. My iPod has the Pioneer logo and last song played stuck on the screen. iPod keys are non-functional.
Any ever hear of this or had this happen? Please help. Thanks guys.

I can see why no one has responded to this issue..... USER ERROR lol
I turned VR Catalog mode to ON just to give it one last shot. Walked away from the car while it was doing it's thing for about 10-20 min. Came back and no errors on the screen. Now VR is working great. Not 100% accurate on recognition, but I don't really expect the thing to recognize Matisyahu. lol
Is there a way to delete dumb posts if you are the originator? Or do the moderators / admins have to do it?

I think under nav settings there are time update options with DST on/off?
But, yeah it doesn't make sense for the time to change though since you're entering the same time zone.
-
No problem. This makes more sense now. Thanks for the links. I'll try this out sometime this week.
But what if I add a new contact after I've modified the F90BT contact file? Will I need to modify the F90BT files, every time I add a new contact?
Kind of strange Pioneer didn't account for this and didn't hard code the formatting of transferred contacts. Especially since this runs off WinCE. I would think the first thing they would test the unit with would be a Windows Mobile phone or an iPhone. lol

Thanks for the info. SQLite looks like it might be over my head. Is that something to run from my PDA or from my computer? I've tried to change the numbers to xxxxxxxxxx, but looks like WM6 overrides it with it's own formatting (xxx)xxx-xxxx. I also sync with Outlook 2007 via Active Sync. Do you know if you apply xxxxxxxxxx format into Outlook, that it'll keep the format transferring to the PDA? I'm not at home right now otherwise I'd try it.
Or is SQLite the only answer?
Also, once you fixed everything, did your AVIC make multiple icons/contact for one person?
-
I transferred my contacts over to F90BT without issue. But, I'm unable to use voice command (VR) to call them. I can say dial xxx-xxx-xxxx without issue.
So the problem might be this:
For each contact name in my PDA, (let's say John Doe for example) I have 3 numbers. Work, Home, Cell. When it transferred to the F90BT, it created 3 John Doe contact icons. Each with a different color. (I noticed there is no significance to the color to indicate cell, work, etc.) Also, on the F90BT it sorted the contact names "LAST, FIRST". I've tried using VR saying the last name first and the first name first. No luck.
Could the issue be that it is creating a contact with the same name for each number and is confused? If I remember the videos correctly, the user would say "Call John Doe". Then the F90BT would say "would you like to call him at work, home or cell?".

wow!!! i had a pretty sweet mod prior to this, but 3.0 is dope! i have had the worst luck with my ipod connection not working all the time. and with 3.0 it works every time i connect it!! that alone is the biggest plus. the response is much improved. i'm gonna cancel my order of the official sd cards.
