  1. Do you mean update or upgrade? They are different. An update will be a firmware update and the upgrade will be the navigation discs. I am assuming you are talking about the upgrade because to my knowledge Pioneer has not said anything recently about a firmware update. They have however, talked about the upgrade disc which is a "map data update only" for your navigation. See for yourself:

This upgrade navigation data disc is said by Pioneer to be released in August. I personally don't give a shit about it unless they do an update firmware for the D3. I have not heard anything recently about a firmware update for the D3 from Pioneer. Hope this helps.

  2. YES we have success!!!

The problem was that it was in 3D Hybrid calibration mode.

My brother truck had the VSS wire in the harness and I remember reading in the manual that you had to have that wire to be in 3D hybrid mode.

My bro realized that could be cleared and the unit went into simple hybrid mode…boom after a few traveled miles it is balls on accurate!!

Put that one in the memory banks fellas incase someone else has a similar problem.

Lol balls on accurate... that's funny. I am glad you figured out your problem. I remember doing the same with my D3. It works really good now. Enjoy!

  3. I just installed my D3 and it is ALWAYS on! Even when i take the key out of the ignition, it stays on. I don't wanna drain the battery and the only way to turn it off is to disconnect the battery. What could cause this to happen and what should I start looking at first?

Oh by the way i have the ipod and bluetooth connected to the head unit if that matters...

    Thanks[/u]

where did you wire the red wire? it sounds like its coming in contact with the yellow wire or another constant power source...make sure its wired to the accessory wire on the OEM harness

Exactly what you need to look for!

Your D3 should not be doing that, I can tell you that much. If I were you I check the wires to make sure everything is connected how it should. Let me know with what you come up with.

  5. Thanks for the information Guz.

I guess I will need to relocate my antenna under the back window.

I don’t want to put it on the outside of the car.

Will it be OK on the rear deck where the speakers are, the window has a defroster and 30% tint.

Do I really need the metal place that came with the unit because I don’t have it; if so does anyone know where I can buy one?

I would like to stay away from discouraging what the manual says, but in my experience having the metal place made absolutely no difference. I did all I could from placing the antenna outside of the vehicle, but it was where i got the best reception. I put the antenna on the rear deck where the speakers are, and it was a low signal. I guess making direct contact with the outside of my vehicle is what did the difference. I tried everything else before putting the antenna outside, no other option gave me better results. But because it worked for me it does not mean that's going to work for you with a 100% certainty. I like to think that it will. Like i said try everything look at what reception you are getting by looking at your connection status and make the best determination for you.

  6. All I recommend is that you get the best reception signal possible. Try different spots to see where it works best. Having really good signal is paramount for its Navigation capabilities to work well. In case you did not know, you can check the connection status on the radio as you try different placement areas in your vehicle.

  7. I installed a used D3 in my 07 Mustang GT on Saturday.

I installed the antenna under the dash on top of a steel bar it is mounted 90 degrees counter clock to the from of the car (if that matters); there is no metal above the antenna.

I get between 1 and 3 bars and usually all satellites are lit red and sometimes yellow (what does the red and yellow mean).

I did not hook up the VSS or reverse wires, but for some reason I am starting to think I grounded the reverse wire.

The problem is the Nav is sometimes 30 to 180 degrees off.

Today it said I was traveling south on I-95 but I was in the northbound lane.

When you look at the arrow is it pointing never pointing in the direction of travel but 30 to 180 degrees off.

I am plan on hooking up the VSS and reserves wires this weekend, but does anyone have an idea why the Nav is acting this way?

    Thanks a lot.

I had very similar problems with my D3 for months and nearly punched it several times out of frustration. The last thing it did before I fixed it, was showing me I was an ocean while I was sitting in my garage.

So I considered placing the antenna it a different spot to see if it made a difference. I had it in my glove compartment and half the times it worked ok but very shaky when it was off. So I placed that antenna on top of my vehicle to experiment and my reception signal jumped all the way up from basically zero. Immediately, my D3 recognized where I was and since then, It has NOT given me any problems at all. Not even once it has given me one wrong turn or anything like that. I was going to post this result, but i wanted to wait at least a week to make sure it was not just a fluke.

I strongly recommend placing your antenna where you get full signal reception all the time. Two or three bars might do it in good areas but when you get on the highway or certain roads you lose that little bit of signal and that's why your system starts acting up because it does not know where you are. I ended up placing my antenna on the outside on top of my trunk and my D3's Navigation is working like a charm. I have total confidence over it now. Let me know how it works out for you.

  8. Ok i bought my D3 a few months ago it was working fine i did the bypass and everything was going great. Yesterday i tried to search for a nearby starbucks and noticed all my search buttons were not working. I couldnt select any of them. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the bypass so opened it up and was checking the wiring nothing disconnected or anything. I decided to check it later and as i put it back into its place it just shut off no sound no lights nothing what so ever I need help please!!!!

First thing you need to do is get a circuit tester and verify that power is getting to your D3 and check the fuse. It sounds to me that you either blew a fuse or disconnected a cable. Let me know the results. If still you have not figured out the problem, let me know and we will try something else.

  9. All I can say at this point is that I have a D3 and it has never not once given me any problems with its bluetooth. I will be getting the F90bt soon. I will probably leave the mic where it is now in an effort to make the installation easier. I will post results as soon as I have them.
