i looked at the manual and it shows how i can select like playlists and stuff like that using a touch screen but nope not at all i don't get that.

If you don't get it then it probably means that you have a unit that isn't the N3 or Z1.

In which case, sorry but you're out of luck.

As a recent D2 owner, I wonder how many of the D3 upgrades will be available via a software update? For instance, will the newer maps be backwards compatible? How about the iPod interface improvements?

 

Actually, those are the only two I can concerned about. Give me those two and I'm happy.

 

Ipod interface improvements, probably not. None of the n3 improvements were available for the n1/n2.

 

hmm, what do u mean by no n3 improvements were avialable? i upgraded my n1 -> n3 via updated discs. it updated the user interface, menus loaded faster, and had small updated features like which lane to stay in when anticipating an exit.

I meant none of the n3 ipod improvements work on the n1/2.

My question now: Sometimes it seems that the GPS gets completely lost and I end up on a different road them I actually am. Is there a way to tell the nav to reset itself and redetermine my location?

Well they just hooked it up. Everything works fine.

I think the night mode looks really cool. Especially in drivers view where it switches from the clouds to the stars.

Glad I pushed the issue with them.

Yeah you have to hit back. It can be annoying sometimes. I don't know why, but when I try to search in my town of "Huntington", when I type it in half way, the system automatically fills in the word "Huntingtn", and my only options are "Huntingtn Station" or something, which is a different part of town (which is not spelled Huntingtn so I don't know why the nav does that).

Those 3d maps look awesome. IT would be nice to get those on updates for the previous systems.

I have a CD changer, and on my N3 you can view a list of songs if you have a CD that has CD text on it already. Most CDs that you buy don't come with CD text, but CDs you burn usually burn with it.

Yes. You don't have to wait for the unit to completely finish booting up before you can start driving. Just hit accept whenever you want.

Apparently they're on ebay as well. Guess we'll see them prior to March. It all makes sense with the D2 being in short supply.

Press the "Disp" button on the left hand size of the small display panel. It will cycle through everything you can display

I noticed on my N3 that it will display white dots on the map to represent places that I've driven, and the density of those dots increases in areas that I drive frequently.

I was just curious as to the point of this feature. Is it just random and for the driver's benefit?

Like I said in the first post, a system folder on my hard drive. Something out of the windows root directory I think.

So are you planning on having two separate GPS computers running in your car?

Yeah, it's located to the top right of the screen (on the sub-display). It senses the light outside and adjusts the brightness of the screen to suit. If it's daylight outside, hold your hand over the top right of the screen and watch the display dim because it thinks its darker outside!

I thought that was just an infrared reciever for a remote, cool.

Ok maybe killed was too strong. Nevertheless it didn't work, what happened?

I have multiple .jpg pictures that I want to put on my n3 as a background. I burned them to a cd in a folder called "bg", and I put 100+ mb of random crap onto the CD, I think it was the root folder for a game or something.

Anyway, I put the cd in the n3, on the screen is says "Reading Format" and I just keep hearing the laser move and click around trying to read it. All of a sudden, the entire unit goes dead. It turns back on again with a black screen and in little white letters at the top "PIoneer navigation is starting up" or something to that effect. I then got the cd out of there and put my nav disc back in.

What the hell happened?

Yeah so I was nearby today and I stopped in and talked to them. The guy there said it should have been done, and I made an appointment.

They probably got lazy and figured I'd never notice.

Okay so I talked to the shop that installed my car. They said that my car does not have a dimmer in it, so they weren't able to hook up the illumination connection normally. They said if I really wanted it then they'd have to hook up a relay to the headlights, and it would cost more money to do and possibly void my warranty.

Is this true?

And if so, how do I manually put this thing into night mode?
