  1. I called Pioneer Tech Support and they simply said:

"Apple has changed their firmware so we no longer support charging from the Unit (mine is a 900BT)"

I am totally POed at this answer!!

I tried plugging the phone before turning the unit ON but it didn't change anything for me.

    It does not recharge anymore...

Come on, someone must have a solution to this real stupid problem!

The Pioneer guy is claiming nothing they can do on their end... Hard to believe but Oh well.. I may just have a 900BT for sale very soon. I have to be able to recharge my phone while in the car and still listen to music.

  2. Used to do Windows stuff back in the days...

Looks like you're taping into "resources" that are "linked" to the executable. I remember a resource editor was available back then...

It was giving you the ability to edit them (adding, modifying,..) without changing the executable portion of the .exe

(This is all Windows 95 stuff I vaguely remember but figured I would mention it here.) ("resources" are basically Bitmap, text files, binaries or any sort that the executable needs and rather than having them into separate files, they "attached" to the .exe)

Hope this help someone more knowledgeable... I'm rusty here...

  3. Same problem here. My phone doesn't stay connected more than 5 min. It keeps connect/disconnect.

I tried unpair/pair again. To no avail.

I even got a windows Error message about the "tel" application crashing and then no more connectivity.

This unit is a real POS. I'm stuck with it now as I passed the 30 days return. What to do? I think I will call Pioneer and get a cse number this time...

    I'm totally POed over this!

  4. I just spoke with one of the regional trainers today told me that they are in Long Beach right now working on software to fix the issues and should have an answer for us next week.

Just spoke to the support team in Long Beach as well...

    They basically said:

"For transparency, Pioneer is acknowledging all the problems with this unit and the Engineering Team in Japan is working on a firmware fix.

It includes BT quality, boot time, Touchscreen responsiveness, iPod integration, Automatic time accuracy"...

To the question: Should I expect Firmware only or will I have to send the unit back, he replied :"... Absolutely firmware only..."

No ETA, he just recommended to register my unit to the pioneer website and check "Receive e-mail updates"...

    FWIW...

  5. This maybe a stupid question, I have the f900bt and I have the Hd radio adapter with it.

I can't seem to get any sort of a signal for my msn direct service, does the hd radio adapter have a pass through for the main unit for the msn direct receiver? Or does a antenna have to be install in the rear, AS WELL AS to the HD radio accessory/adapter?

I guess that would explain some things, although im in a area right now that is spotty with coverage anyway.

If anyone could answer that I would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

Read the installation manual. It clearly states that you need to split the antenna so both your HU and your HD gets a signal. The HU signal is required for MSN Direct to work.

  6. Sorry for the newb question but what is the easiest way to remove the wire from the harness? Does it require a special tool? Dont want to mess up the harness because I pull when I should have pushed.

I used the needle in my "sewing kit" to lift the white plastic tab that prevents the wire from going out when pulling on it.

Then lift it again on the new position to help it go through...

    Hope this help...

  7. not just a theory lol

Sorry I wasn't clear enough on my post. I know that it goes from 12V to around 14V when the alternator is running (I can see that on my car too). The interesting part of the theory is wether or not it impacts Bluetooth quality...

Hope we find the reason soon. This is driving me nuts (among other things)

  8. I did one test with the Engine OFF and it sounded great. I then did 5 calls with the engine running. Idle at a stop or driving. ALL terrible.

My wire is indeed looped together next to the HU in the dashboard. I will try "unwinding it" and see what it does.

BTW, My unit is a f900BT

The theory or the voltage going from 12V to 14V is very interesting. I wish someone can try that on a bench. My unit is installed now and I can't really try this easily.
