  1. Diaftia,

Great work on the mods. I installed them yesterday and tested them out for a little while today. I noticed an overlap with the lane guidance and highway signs. Is this in the navigatemap_800_480? If so I can just change the X coordinates.

Sorry it's a little blurry, I was driving.

If you set them to the bottom there is no overlap. If for some reason you like them at the top I would disable the signboards. I will try to fix it but there is really no other place to put them if you want them at the top. I am running out of screen real estate. ;) I will think of something else to do. Maybe I can make it so the signboards are disabled when navigating when the lane info is chosen to be at the top. Seems like a lame solution though so I will think about it.

I must have completely overlooked that option in the settings. I'll move them to the bottom and see if they're to my liking. Otherwise I'll start sliding stuff around.

On a side note: I take a couple of months off from avic411 and now my mods look like a fisher price experiment compared to the stuff you guys are putting out

Thanks and keep up the good work.

  2. LOL! I noticed the same thing. Some lines said "Singpost" and others said "Signpost". I didn't know what would happen if I corrected the mis-spelling, so I left it alone. I'm still adding my mods post 3.0, so I don't want to throw any wrenches in there at the moment. But I'll try fixing it once everything's stable.

  3. There's not really anything you can do to make it ring. It' has something to do with the head unit and your phone. I used to have a Moto Krzr K1 and it would ring/transmit phones ringtone/notify of SMS. Now I have a Windows Mobile powered Samsung Omnia and it doesn't do any of the above. I know the phone supports it as it works with other bluetooth devices, but the headunit doesn't play nice with other Windows CE devices. I know there used to be a thread around here 4-6 months ago discussing this very topic.

Let me see... Here you go:

  4. I just wanted to thank the OP for all his work. My headunit started this black screen problem a couple of days ago and this thread helped me restore it. I had to reload windows CE a couple of times and cut power to the headunit, but I was finally able to get back into windows to format and restore my flash disk.

    Thanks.

  5. I'm afraid that's not an option. VR can only be used to play by artist/album/genre/playlist.

I have tried saying "Play song" whatever, but it doesn't do anything. I can only assume it's because it would take forever to catalog individual songs as opposed to artist/album/genre.

  6. Bluetooth call quality is really subjective. It depends on:

    * Quality of bluetooth connection between phone and headunit.

    * Environtment (how noisy your cars cabin is).

    * Mic placement.

People have told me I sound a little distant but I am clear and understandable. I can hear the people on the other end clearly as well.

  7. This is a known issue with the F series. There is a lengthy thread discussing this very issue. You can search for it. The short answer is that its random across the ipod generations. Some people say it works perfectly, others have blurry album art on the F when it's perfectly clear on their ipods (myself included).

  8. Yettavr6/Stoca,

I'm also using MediaMonkey Gold to manage my music and transfer them to my ipod. But my album art DOES show up on the ipod and my F700.

I am saving the album art into the music file. Not into an album art folder. MediaMonkey asks you this question by default when you autotag from web.

All of my music is in mp3 format.

    I have a 5th Gen Video Ipod.

I have noticed that if any music is moved/renamed on your computer, MediaMonkey does not auto-update its location in its database. So it loses the album art until I do a File-->"Add/Rescan Tracks to the Library".

Also, the default "SYNC" setting in MM only adds files to the Ipod. It does not delete or update files. You have to go into the SYNC settings and check the appropriate boxes to delete and update files.

    Hope it helps.

  9. Holy Sh**!!!

I thought this day would never come. I thought this fabled second update was an urban legend.

Wow is it faster to boot up.

Time to ipod - ~30 seconds (actually longer than before. Used to take 15-20 seconds)

NAV to operational - ~30 seconds (big improvement)

    Bluetooth Connection - ~1:35 (hasn't changed much)

    Menu/button response is immediate.

    Now to re-create my mods...

  10. You may want to look into buying the dash kit and wire harness yourself and then taking it to a shop to have it installed. It will probably be cheaper that way. And you could always take how22 up on his offer and have him do the install.

  11. Wow!

They have never charged me that much to install a headunit. It was usually $80-$120. Granted, I have never had them install a NAV headunit, but it's not that much extra work. You may want to call back and talk to someone else, those prices are really inflated.

    Dash Kit - OK

Harness - Should be $30 tops

    Antenna Adaptor - OK

Radio - This is just a ridiculous price.

Bluetooth - There's nothing to install

Navigation - I dont know what fair market value is for this

XM Tuner - seems fair (depending on where they have to mount it).

There are other shops in the area... BuzzOff (about 1/4 mile north) and theres another across the street from BuzzOff but I can't remember the name.

Those three are the only reputable ones I have had experience with.

You could always go big box (BestBuy, Circuit City, etc.)

How handy are you with electronics? What do you drive?

    How22,

I live in Tampa, near USF. I installed my F Series myself, but I have used Divine Sounds (Dale Mabry and Waters Ave.) to do the audio for my last two cars. They will do the bypass if you ask them.

    Divine Sounds

    (813) 886-3100

    8338 N Dale Mabry Highway

    Tampa, FL 33614

Thanks for the info - good news is that you're right about the bypass but the cost of the install just about made me fall out of my chair. While the price may be in line with other shops, I just wasn't expecting it to be this much. The total cost that I was quoted was $455.

    $15 Dash Kit

    $100 Harness

    $10 Antenna Adapter

    $200 Radio

    $50 Bluetooth

    $50 Navigation

    $30 XM Tuner

  13. Added more enhancements:

    1. Cosmetics are fine now on the POI screen for Address search.

    2. Moved house numbers to the Current Street display (combined_textmodel rocks ;) )

    3. Added Turn Restriction indicator. If you are passing by a one-way street, No (left/right) Turn sign will appear on screen.

    4. Fixed up route simulation. Instead of Fly Over, button now says "Simulate". When you click, it will ask if you want to do a Fly Over or Simulation. In Simulation mode, you get voice announcements, camera warnings, etc. Also, on screen, next to Stop Simulation buttons, you now get Slower/Faster buttons, because Simulate can be rather slow (it drives speed limit :) )

    TODO:

    1. Figure out detour screen. Still can't get it to show anything useful

    2. Better hiding of simulation speed controls. For now, they get hidden only when you stop simulation with the green Stop button.

    INSTALLATION:

Either add files to your DATA.ZIP, or copy the entire ui_pioneer folder into your iGO directory. Whatever files are present there override ones inside DATA.ZIP.

Boris, could you point out/post the changes you made to your navigatemap_800_480.ui file. I like to fully understand what changes people have made to their files before I implement those changes to mine. Looking through the navigatemap_800_480.ui in your zip file, I can see several comments added but I'm not sure I understand what each does.

    Thanks
