  1. Just FYI. I am a 15 year Circuit installer that just found out im going to be jobless. Because of the buyout of the company, the new company has given me home access to the Firedog wiring database for the next few months to do service work. SOOOOOOOOOOO,

if anyone needs some help with wiring color/location on speakers, VSS help or remstart, just ask! I would like to help out as long as I can.

    E40

I have 99 Chevy Astro 2wd. and according to the VSS locator link, it discribes it as GREEN/WHITE. Well when I connected to it (in 3 different places) it did not work! I have an acctual GMC data base for the van and it discribes the LOW end as GRN/BK High end as PUR/WHITE...can you confirm this for me!

  2. Have you tried to hold the Open button for 1-2 seconds? does the Angle button work. Also is it in the car or out. If in, check for clearance!! I had that issue on my install and had to shave the bottom lip of my bezel. Good Luck!!

  3. cool I'll try the appointment trick and see what happens. I do know the 1st time i paired and connected, i had a friend call me and I THOUGHT the "Old Phone" ringtone came thru when i had a friend call...so I'll see.

    Thanks

  4. Ok i did the research and could not find anything on this. I have a D1....for me to autoconnect, the phone has to be in the general setup/bluetooth selection. you can see the phone looking for devices. If i have it up as soon as i walk in the car, it'll connect on the 1st try. is it the phone or the D1? Also ringtone thru the system!! Not happening!! again Phone or D1??..yeah I know need to upgrade...when i get a diff car...

    thanks in advance....

  7. Also if some one has instructions on how to wire an 2007 Nissan Maxima. With the bose non navigation. thanks guys I like it here. :D

Take a pic of the dash. You might have to get the Nav bezel for it and/or the dbl din kit for it. Go to Nissanparts.com and search or one of these know it alls will be able to tell you which kit and harness you need.

  8. Try using another decryption program on top of DVD decrypter. I use Slysoft's AnyDVD and I have no problems. You can download it free for a month I think. Cracks are pretty readily available if you look around too.

  10. Well after almost 2 weeks I received my disk and they work and look good. I have to learn how to do my own PIM because Paisan was extremely busy and I truly understand. Thanks bro I appreciate. Now I hope I can get to my grandfathers house in Jamaica with better results. :D

  11. ok ill try goo gone first, i think i can pull off the outer touchscreen / screen protector, looks like its cliped in with plastic tabs 2 on top and 3 on the bottom, i should probably remove this before i start cleaning it with chemicals. anyone know for sure if i can simply remove this?

That I do not know. But I myself always try to do things myself.

Sorry to here about your R6!! My boy has TL bu he parked that after Iwas spanking his ass in the back roads.

  12. Doh' :)

The best way I know how to remove superglue is with nail polish remover (acetone). I would be very careful with this and try it on a small corner of the screen to make sure it isn't going to do more damage. Before using the acetone use warm soapy water to break it down. (That will do alot probably) If that does nothing for it, try goof off. Good luck, keep us posted.

**Not liable for any further damage** :)

DON'T USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER. I tried that on a Touch Screen monitor for the Avic 80DVD. The chemicals in the Remover will go THRU the screen and cause the screen to malfunction. trust me it ain't pretty. I was lucky the guy who fixes avics had the same monitor a customer sold to him. Try to use GOO GONE or some non solvent type.

    Good luck

  13. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE!! AND THAT MEANS WOMEN INCLUDED.

But I have a funny feeling your girl did not get "Bumped" off the road. Here's my reason: In your 1st post you give indication your GF is very Impatient. When she wants something she WANTS it NOW. You were very good at stalling for the most point.

This makes me believe that when she got in her car she was doing what most females do while driving...................................doing something else at the same time. Being in Awe at her new toy she could of been trying out the features on it. since you stated you got the info off of here, then 9x's out of 10 it is bypassed. Am I correct?

I don't know you from adam but ask your self this. Why wasn't she trying to call you as the person was flashing their lights at her? Yes she could of been scared but when scared you usually don't forget to call for help.

You also said the only damage was the front bumper and a few scratches. Was there any indication on the rear of a bump or paint trade off.

The reason I am telling you this is you spent close to 1k for her system and even though that is HER car, I IN MY OWN OPINION,don't think she is ready for that. She told you the story she HAD to tell the Cops. Did you at any point tell her that the reason they lock things out is for safety reasons and don't let cops see the DVD playing?

For her safety and your peace of mind IF I AM CORRECT, undo the Bypass until you know she can handle it.

In no way was I trying to be malicious or an AZZ hole in writing this, but I have a wife with a $200. phone for two years now and she STILL to this day refuses to set the 1 touch dial feature because it's to complicated but let me upgrade a stereo in a car and she is all over it.

So again please do not take offense just a habit I have when I hear something and it does not sound right.(EX-Drill Instructor for at-risk teenagers)

  14. Question for you guys! I'm 40 41 in a few weeks. I always loved doing stereo installs since I owned my 1st car. 81 VW jetta. I did car installs and alarms off and on while living in Europe. I want to get certified and one day open my own shop. (Moving to TX). I work now for the Dc Air national Guard and in the Finance dept. BOOORRRRING!! I want to be my own Boss and get the younger (teenagers and such) involved. My Q is do you think being the age I am I should not pursue making it a full time thing? Is it worth it? What school should I go to? I'm not trying to get in the Will Castro Staus even though I love his clientele. Thanks for the input. All comments welcome ............even the smart azz ones. :D

  15. Really, I think SUV's and Minivans (and maybe even pick up trucks) should be required to have back up sensors or cameras when they are manufactured nowadays.

    or intelligent drivers

    scrupul0us ...

You don't have to agree with my opinion, but larger vehicles do not have as good of a field of view behind their vehicles as smallers cars. I know, I drive for a living and I own a SUV and a smaller 4 cyclinder car.

I was simply sharing an Avic related experience that I thought other Avic owners may be interested in, especially those considering a backup camera.

:!: I did not do anything to you, say anything to you or provoke you in any way. I find your comment very insulting and uncalled for.

    Aconite

I think you took his comment the wrong way. He is AGREEING with you and at the same time giving you a compliment. Most drivers get in their vehicles and don't even bother to look behind them or side to side. I ride a motorcycle and the intelligence of the people on the road amaze me. makes me wonder where they obtained their DL.

  16. So I think I'm like 90% done with the install of my D3 into a 2003 mustang GT with the Mach 460 System. Just a couple questions: I have the Metra 70-5519 harness all soldered and connected up, with the exception of a few wires- the dimmer wire (orange with black stripe), and the Amp Turn ons(Light blue wires) and negative wires(black wires). For the Amp turn ons, where should I connect them? I was thinking I could just tap the red ACC wire, but would like to check with you guys first. Also, can I just ground out the negatives then? The entire 8 Pin connector and harness part has got me all confused, any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, do I have to connect the dimmer wire to something in order to have the illumination work properly?

    Thanks for any help!

My 1st Q to u is why are these wires left FREE? There should be a wire for each.

Is it a factory Amp? If so then you should match it up with the remote wire from the factory harness.

Do not attach it to the acc wire.

If it's aftermarket Amps then use the turn on wire from there.

s for the Ground use the ground from the factory harness. Yeah you could GROUND them some where but the best location is from the factory harness.
