I have been reading this thread and it seems some of the answers are alittle confusing, I thought I would clean it up a bit.

I have an Ipod touch first generation, has the metal back and no internal speaker.

I have updated my Avic F90 BT to the new 2.0 firmware

I have updated my Ipod touch to the 2.1 firmware (meaning I now have app store)

Everything works regarding the ipod interface including video

For those asking about paying for the 2.0 firmware for your ipod touch, search online and there are places that have it posted for free. Once you have the 2.0 installed on your touch, Itunes thinks you paid for it and it will allow you to update to the 2.1 firmware through it.

I just picked up an F900BT, and from my understanding, an original 16gb iPod touch will not work with the latest firmware? (I can't get mine to connect, which is why a google search led me here) Would a downgrade fix this, or is the 1st gen Touch just not compatible?

It will work if you downgrade to the 1.4.

I just updated to the newest to see if it was would work, 2.1, and no cigar, still doesnt work. I have no idea why the 2nd gen touch works.

So the new Touch works but the new Firmware in a first gen. Touch doesnt?

If anyone gets the 2.1 (newest update) on there iPod touch and it works or not please post. I am going to get it as soon as I can as it came out today I believe. But, If I don't get a chance to get that before anyone else, o would like to know if it works.

That really sucks. I would really like to download apps plus maybe the video part would work as well just like the Iphone did when it went to the 2.0. I wonder why if they are the "same thing" one works and one doesnt.

Did you update your Touch to version 2.0? If you did it won't work, and the only way to regain use is to roll the firmware back to 1.1.4.

That's probably why then. I get a little beep like it starts to charge and recognize but then nothing. I'm not too worried about it though, my 80gb is the one that stays in there. I was just testing the Touch.

Can you updade yours to the new 2.0.2 and then try it? It just came out today and I wonder if it fixes it. I would try it but then it is a pain to go all the way back to 1.4 to get it to work again with the headunit.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new Firmware with the F series yet. Thanks!

I also ordered a splitter from ebay for $6. Installed today and all is good, got MSN, FM/AM, and HD all running and getting signals.

Apple just released another update, 2.01. Anyone tried installing this and are any of the connectivity issues fixed?

I have tried it, didnt work. Had to go back to 1.4. I miss the APPS!

I have a F90BT and am seriously unhappy with its performance.

 

It is installed in a 06 Civic and should work seamlessly.

 

PROBLEMS:

 

1. The boxes on the map have to go...

2. My voice commands are crappy - is it true I can only call numbers or change source?

3. When I use the dialpad to dial, after I connect I need to press numbers to get through extensions - how can I get the dialpad back DURING a call?

4. Bluetooth doesn't want to always connect to my Blackberry 8100. Sometimes yes, sometimes no - it must be reliable!

5. A hibernation state would be EXCELLENT - and NEEDED! It takes 2-3 minutes for the system to boot up and connect my phone (if it connects) - this is UNACCEPTABLE

 

AM I ALONE IN THIS?

I agree, I have the same phone and I have the same issues!

Didnt work for me. Very disapointed in that. I had to downgrade it back to 1.4, not a fun procress to say the least.
