  1. I called Pioneer - who were about as unhelpful as they could be. It seemed the guy on the phone didn't give a to$$ and was just wanting rid of me!

I called the supplier of the unit who was VERY helpful. She said he'd heard that Pioneer were very unhelpful, but luckily she knew someone there and she'd contact him.

She called back a few mins later asking for my software version, then called him back. He advised running the update again which may possibly fix my problem... if not, I have to return the unit for a replacement.

In all honesty, if I have to return the unit, I'm going to ask if I can exchange it for something else as I'm not happy at all with this model.

  2. I have an F900BT with the IU230V iPod adapter to let me play videos from my iPod (5th Gen).

I tried it for the first time today with video - its been working fine with audio for the last 2 days.

Every 10-15 seconds I get a black glitch appears on screen for a milisecond on the bottom 1/5th of the display. Its like a black jaggedy line almost.

I tried a couple of different vidoes from my iPod, and they all do the same.

I then tried a DVD video for the first time... and it does exactly the same thing.

Any ideas what it is and what I can do? I'm starting to regret buying this unit because of all these silly little annoying things.

  3. In Europe we only get the choice of the F900BT and the F700BT. I took the F900 as it plays DVD's.

The F900 is shiney piano black and the F700 is a matt finish.

My car dash is a matt finish, and so is my adapter to fit the stereo (although a 'slight' different shade). Then I have the naff matt bezel Pioneer supply, and then the beautiful shiney stereo!

Is there a shiney piano black bezel I can get anywhere that matches the F900's face? At least that would save me having so many different shades of black! I wish they did the F900 with a matt finish too, as it would suit my dash better!

  4. Hmmm... that sucks.

I wonder why they neglected the Euro model with the voice commands? Or whether they'll add it in a future update.

Looks like I'll have to re-do my phonebook then with each number as a contact, rather than some contacts having 2 or 3 numbers.

  5. Thanks for the reply...

Perhaps I'm stupid, but I've read through my manual several times (which is a PDF from Pioneer.co.uk) - and I still can't find anything about voice commands. It does say that the TTS will read a message to me though - which I can't get to work either.

When I read about the multifunctional knob - it says (with a bluetooth phone connected) pressing it will either answer an incoming call or end a current call.

No mention of voice commands at all?

Perhaps the UK model is different to the US one? I'm currently downloading the manual you've linked to so I can see if its different.

  6. I installed my F900BT last night and apart from the slow boot time and the stupid blue box on the nav screen, I'm pretty happy with it.

I looked in the PDF manual, but can't seem to find anything on the voice commands. I chose a TTS voice - as they now tell me the names of the streets. I can't figure out how to use the voice commands or voice dialing etc? Is there something I need to set up, and is there something I need to press to speak?

Also - does anyone have a list of commands?

  7. I just got my 900 installed yesterday and before my samsung a900 wouldnt stay connected and i had multiple problems but now it works fine. i havent talked on it yet though. but my phonebook was like this.

    set phone to: always visible

    f900: phone> settings > conection > add device> search > touch my phone

a900: "pioneer navi wants to connect" accept

f900: phonebook transfer > yes > ok> then it says loading and after a minute it says its finished.

This is exactly what I did with my Touch Diamond and it worked no proble.

I got my F900BT today - but am still waiting for the double din face plate to arrive for my car before fitting it.

  8. Hey p3eps,

How did you transfer your contact using the HTC touch ? I am having a problem where only 5 out of 25 contact make it to the pioneer unit.

    Hi Simon...

To be honest I only used the unit for about 20 mins on the shop demo one. I'm still waiting for my own one to come. As far as I could tell, it seemed to sync all my contacts at once. I could be totally wrong though and it may have just given me a selection. I paired with the unit using the phone and then pressed the sync button on the F900.

I'll hopefully be able to answer your question in the next few days when my F900 arrives :)

  9. Hi folks...

I've just ordered an F900BT which should hopefully arrive in the next few days. I played with one in my local store, and have a question.

I know the bluetooth function works with my phone perfectly - and this is the first all in one kit I've found to do that (HTC Touch Diamond).

The only problem - which I've seen mentioned here already - is that the contacts don't show the different numbers for each person. ie. On my phone I have John Smith, and he has Home, Mobile and Work - but on the F900BT it just displays 3 different John Smith's, with no indication of what each one is.

I noticed on the front page of this website a video from Pioneer, where a guy driving calls someone through voice dialing. He says 'Let me call Jill' - the F900 then replies 'There is more than one number for Jill' - and the guy replies 'Let me try her home first' - and it dials her home number.

DOES THIS REALLY WORK?!?! Or should I go through my contacts and make a new contact for each number? i.e - John Smith (M), John Smith (H), John Smith (W)?

Also - I read in the manual something about the F900 reading messages to me. Is this SMS?

    Thanks...

  10. If you want to use your stereo as a bluetooth hands free, then DONT get an Alpine! I currently have an Alpine stereo and use the KCA-300BT adapter (their newest one) and find it absolutely useless with every phone I've tried (except the iPhone!).

I've ordered a F900BT to replace it, which will hopefully be with me soon. My local store advised me to take the Pioneer as it has an integrated Parrot. He said Alpine is a stereo manufacturer, and thats what they do best. They've dabled in bluetooth, but not made a good job of it. Pioneer used to make their own bluetooth stuff, but realised they weren't very good either, so got Parrot on board - the experts! He said eventually he can see other manufacturers (Alpine, Kenwood, JVC etc) following suit and using Parrot.
