  1. This is an ad for the new DEH-P710BT

It looks like the GEX-P20HD can pull song data

Now if it'll be displayed properly on the HU is another story but it shows some hope I guess

Pioneer offers a World First, iTunes Tagging for FM radio (using RDS data). Tag a song from the radio or to have it's meta data saved to your iPod. You can then plug the iPod to a computer to see a list of your tagged items in iTunes for purchase. And for you digital radio fans, we've also made this feature available for HD Radio (with the GEX-P20HD).

  2. OK so I looked into it all. I'm going to send the 10 back (it's only been a few days and they said they'd take it back no problem)

I called pioneer and they said that the 20 isnt available for sale yet. Woman said that it'll probably be available sometime in feb. but she was just guessing.

So I guess I'll be checking it and ordering one as soon as they are available. It cant be any worse then this lame one I have now. If it is Ill just send that one back too LOL

  3. well isnt this just great?!?

I just got the 10 last week, 1st one wouldnt recieve ANY channels at all

That one went back. Now the 2nd showed up 2 days ago and it recieves "some" channels, but it's still really lame reception.

It's Ok once Im on the highway or whatever.

I picked up an active antenna with a built in booster which helped some

The HU gets better reception with NO antenna then the HD tuner does with the active booster antenna.

Now they come out with a new model. I couldnt find anywhere to buy it though.

    This really sucks LOL

  4. anyone get this running yet? or everyone gave up?

I got it to boot up same as everyone else (with same limits) don't know enough to figure this out myself

would be awesome to get this working

  5. well your question is a bit confusing to me (Im not 100% sure what youre asking/doing) but the password (Im pretty sure, check the manual 1st) only locks the unit up after you disconnect the power to it. That way if it's stolen when they go to install it in another vehicle they need the password for it to work.

  6. Get the $#.. out of your mouth firedawgs

ooops sorry did I say that out loud? haha

People complained about the way I sounded too firedawgs. Most of the people that I talk to when Im in the car got used to it and don't complain anymore. Im guessing the mic is a POS. I put my mic on the dash and I yell at it from about 2 feet away LOL

I dont drive the car very often or Id probably be getting a new/dif mic

  7. Try looking on an audi forum for more specific to your car

I have bose in my nissan and it made them sound a lot better

Twice as good as they did with the bose HU but still eventually I think Ill be replacing the speakers.

Some bose speakers are low ohm's

Usually what Ive heard people say/do is to hook the HU to the existing bose amp

Go talk to other people that have audi's is probably your best bet

  8. DB,

A hi/low converter is used to convert speaker level outputs so you can connect a sub amp in a conventional stereo (Yours probably has an amp built into it). You should have the sub hooked up to the RCA output on the D3 (The wires with the RCA jacks on them that are hanging off your wire harness in the back of the D3) and you are going to need some kind of amp to power the sub. So far I havent heard you mention an amp. I assumed you had an amp on it. The D3 doesn't have an amp in it for the sub. Any "output" you're going to get is going to come from your amp. I don't see how this can be an issue with your HU. Maybe you thought the D3 was going to "power" the sub? I'm just a little confused LOL

  9. It has something to do with the Nav being able to give you a more accurate estimate of your current location when you can't get a signal (I think) Like when you go into a tunnel or whatever. Just get off your lazy butt and hook up the wire and stop looking for shortcuts hah. I thought it was a pain too.

  10. DB, Stupid question. Do ou have the sub turned on inside the D3? With the unit off, I think it's in the initial settings menu etc. You need to set the rear speaker output to sub. You can change it from sub to full in that menu. Then in one of the EQ menu's there are settings to turn the sub on and off and crank up the volume etc etc. Im gonna go out on a limb, did you read your manual? LOL

  11. Go read this...

    http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17013

The wire harness should have wiring instructions with it as far as the dimmer etc

I think the VSS (speed wire) can be left unconnected but you should connect it.

Looks like you have a nissan, double check the proper/best way to hook up the speaker wiring. You may have better luck getting info on that by looking on some nissan forums.

Use the search function on this site for more info. Most of your questions are probably already answered.

  12. Heres some shielding tape that you could try spinedoc

    http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... _Tape.html

Of course skicrave knows this won't work but the fact is if you can figure out exactly where the interference is getting into the unit and you shield that area it'll solve the problem. The trick is wheres it getting in. I couldnt even guess without having the unit here and pulling it apart. Im not telling you to pull your unit apart but Id be pulling off my screen and seeing if I could put a shield between the screen and the PCB's that are in the unit behind it. Like I said before it might be the screen itself or no way to shield the area that needs to be shielded and then youre stuck.

...and dont blow anything up or short anything out! (if you do it)

    skicrave,

Of course this is a common problem that many people are dealing with, and it would be a hard issue to correct. However spinedoc has said that they pulled their unit already 3 times to try and fix it. This is someone thats obviously bothered by it enough to really want to try and fix it. My suggestion is just that, a "suggestion". Im not promising results. It's a lot better then you're idea of just move your cable to the trunk. Proper shielding in the proper area of any device will inhibit interference. Depending on the car the unit is installed in and/or how its installed, it is "possible" that the case of the unit is not getting a good ground. Unless you've tried it yourself and failed I could do without your "it won't work" comments thanks.

  13. I miss my camera when Im driving a car that doesnt have one

For me its very useful when parking.

As far as the previous post about security...

My camera has bolts that go into slots where you have to remove the nuts from the back (inside the car) to get the cam off (Dont know if they all do)

You'd have to break the camera to get it off

  14. Id have to put a meter on your wiring of your car to see what he's talking about, but to me that makes no sense. He should have hooked the avic up the same way your old HU was hooked up (if it was hooked up correctly to start with that is). The car will control when theres power to the HU. I asume you're talking about that the HU would stay on after you turned off the car until you open the doors or whatever correct? If not you could always put a switch somewhere that would allow you to flip it on and have the HU work. Then if you forgot to turn off the switch after and killed your battery it would be your own stupidity.

  15. I dont have this problem (well my iden phone causes some issues but Im not interested in fixing it) What Id try though if I cared about it was to connect a ground wire to the frame of the HU. All you need to create a shield is to have something metal and have it grounded. The ground creates a barrier. If theres enough metal in the frame of the HU then it may work. There may not be enough metal in the screen area to shield the front of the unit but its worth a try. The frame is generally grounded to the circuit board inside the unit. It might not be a good ground in this case and a ground wire should/might suppliment it and provide better shielding. If the shielding issue is inside the screen itself theres nothing that could be done except replacing the screen which of course you couldn't do. Its worth a try to hook up a wire though. Theres also shielding material that you could get and wrap the entire HU in it. Again if its a shielding issue in the screen though theres nothin you could do. Unless you cover the screen which uhhh thats not going to be a good idea lmao

  16. I didnt read this entire thread but...

I do think that most if not all of the problems with iphone ipod etc are most likely caused by Apple. I for one wouldn't want to complain "too much" about its functionality. Doing so might cause pioneer to abandon its attempts to incorporate the iphone ipod etc in its programming at all.

It's like when MS and Intel teamed up to screw over AMD. Corp's do this crap all the time.

A better way to look at it might be instead of being mad at Pioneer maybe people should be calling Apple and asking them why their expensive iphone doesnt work correctly when you plug it into your Navi. They'll tell you it's Pioneer's fault and they won't care but thats who Id be complaining to.

Apple doesnt care because you're going to buy the iphone reguardless if it works with your Navi or not.

The iphone ipod etc should have a simple plug and an easy interface that allows other companies to easily incorporate it into their programming. Instead Apple does all it can to make it harder and harder for other companies to get the thing to work.

Go file a suit against Apple not Pioneer!

  17. yeah theres def something in the settings I forget exactly where it is but I dont think its 3 settings like hifisi is suggsting. been a while since I wa in the menu but i'm pretty sure it just says something like attenuate or theres a 2nd option. attenuate means it will lower the volume of the audio the other setting was to mute the audio. I dont think there was a 3rd option. I could be wrong but I think it was only 2 options.
