  1. Im going to tell you what you probably already know.. I bet its the wire (I worry about mine all the time, so far so good for me though) Wire doesnt look fixable? Its been a minute since I installed my mic but I think any old mic "should" work. Isnt it just a minijack on the end of the wire that plugs into the unit? (just like a computer mic?) Try one of those and see if it works. Then you know for sure.
  2. exactly what ipod do you have? did you hit the video button on the ipod menu of the D3? then after hitting that button did you use your ipod to select the video? then you also have to unplug and replug in your ipod
  3. Unzipping etc now and will have to get a dl disk before I can burn it but can someone verify for me... will this update erase my saved addresses etc when it updates? I guess I could just go copy them down but... To the person with all the corrupt file errors etc.. I also had a msg when I 1st tried to unpack that the file was corrupt I went and dl'd the latest version of 7-zip and the same file that was reported as being corrupt before unzipped fine. Whenever youre dealing with an img file or a compressed file that "someone else" made, it's always best when you get errors or fa
  4. a little more specific would be helpful in order to help have you tried to play them? what happens?
  5. Only trouble with that is..... It looks like you dont have a radio/stereo etc Criminals aren't that dumb. I'm going to make one for mine (haven't gotten around to it yet but I have the parts) I'm going to use part of an installation kit I have here and a faceplate from an old pioneer unit that doesn't work anymore It will basically look like theres a cheap pioneer raido/cd player in there and a cubby hole under it. I'm going to cut a couple pens in half and glue them on, so it'll look like theres pens in the lower cubby. Ive set it all up in there to see what it'll look
  6. alikhan2004, youre probably not got much response because its probably extremely unlikely that your problem has anything to do with your D3. The D3 is just putting out a line level signal to the amp and whatever happens to that signal after is controlled by your amp. The problem is probably something to do with your amp or maybe the way you have it hooked up. If its interfering with your fm radio reception Id bet its something from the amp feeding back into the D3. Maybe theres a bad ground somewhere maybe even inside youre amp. If you have another amp (any amp) Id try hooking it up and see if
  7. http://pioneer.jp/press/release192.html That top one is $3,589.75 though. A bit much, but really kewl stuff.
  8. A terminal strip has screws on each side where you can attach a wire to one side and then the wire connected to the screw on the other side has a connection through a metal strip. Something like this... http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-st ... P/-/1.html Not that Im recommending that site or that particular part, but just so you get an idea. This kind of thing is a good option for people that can't soldier. Just make sure the strip is not exposed so the wiring can't short out against anything.
  9. I get that Plummit I don't think I/we/anyone is entitled to the data that someone else purchased. I also don't think anyone should complain about someone not sharing something they paid for. That's up the the individual that did the paying. If you notice I never complained about that. My complaints are all towards Pioneer. I also don't think people do or should work for free. Pioneer pays them and they don't necessarily have to pay them from the direct profits of the map data. They could be paid from the profit on the units themselves. Or are you suggesting that Pioneer doesn't make any pr
  10. They could easily give us one free update. Its called putting a coupon in the box with the Nav unit. Even if it was only a 50% off coupon. It just seems to me to be a rip off that I buy a unit and then 8 months later I have to pay $120 for an update. I get all your points about they have to pay for the new info etc etc but arent they using that same map data in the new units they are trying to sell? Its not like they arent going to make their money back. Just like everyone else they are too greedy. They shouldnt be trying to make a profit on map data. They should be concentrating on making mon
  11. Not that I care all that much to upgrade today/tomorrow whatever, but Im not rushing out to buy it because of the simple fact its been less then a year since I just spent 100's of dollars on the unit itself. For what I/we paid you'd think we could "at least" get 1 free update. Pioneer reminds me of MS. They put out beta crap and charge full price for it. Then they come out with fixes and charge you again. In case nobody realizes it vista is nothing more then XP with updates. Yet they make you pay for "updates". How much money should a person have to pay for one "working" Nav unit? Its not like
  12. err Im just coming in, in the middle here, but uhh..... 1st off if youre connecting an amp the amp should be connected directly to the battery and then there should be a wire that turns the amp on which should be connected to a wire thats only hot when the HU is on (I "think" theres a yellow wire on the HU somewhere for that) anyways Id need to know what exact wires youre trying to hook up etc to give you "good" advice about "properly" hooking them up. One thing I know... twisting a bunch of wires together including an amp power wire is uhh NOT A GOOD IDEA. Thats what causes cars to b
  13. err uhm, Ive played lots and lots of DivX movies on my D3 Didn't know this was an issue for anyone The only real problem I have is that it wont play movies that are XviD. They must be encoded with the DivX codec and not any other codec If I have a movie that is XviD and I want to play it in the D3 I just use virtualdub and quick convert it to DivX. I use the menu in the D3 to change it to full screen etc when needed. Ive also put several movies on a single DVD and never had an issue. Most devices that are DivX compatible will play DivX 5 They just usually won't play any versions abov
  14. I dont have the traffic option but a few things that come to mind do you have a subscription to that? is the unit activated/authorized by xm?
  15. when you get that msg.. unplug the ipod from the cable then plug it back in... now video "should" play
  16. 1st thing Im wondering is... do you have nav disks? youre going to need those Also what you said about the mute wire and rca's isnt making any sense to me. so maybe its not making any sense to anyone else either, hense why no response to that
  17. Posibly the cable isnt conncted properly in the back of the unit Or maybe the cable is defective That would be my guess You are hooking it to the "ipod" cable correct? and not trying to just hook it into the front panel through the aux jack or something along those lines? If youre in fact hooking it to the ipod cable and it doesnt work then Id suggest taking it back to your installer and complaining that they "posibly" hooked it up wrong
  18. Thanks for trying joske I wanted someone to try it and not change any of the wiring so I think you have answered the question
  19. Take it to besy buy and ask them LOL
  20. I didn't mean anyone should add a .0 at the end of the line I was thinking someone should just set it to 0 Anyone tried it yet?
  21. You can save your most frequently used numbers in those little boxes on the screen that comes up when you manually dial a number. Input the number then hold the box until the number is transferred into the box. No way to name them though.
  22. That would probably be an issue with the phone not the NAV. Some phones don't auto connect, razr for one I know that doesnt. Don't know about the iphone. Anyways look at troubleshooting/using the phone and thats where the problem is. It shouldn't be anything to do with the NAV
  23. 1st theres something wrong with your install/bypass recheck your wiring 2nd its probably trying to load something off the disk and thats why its displaying that msg. Its probably just trying to load your current location which it cant without the disk (just a guess) get the wiring fixed 1st and then see what it does report back what happens when the wiring issue is repaired someone will help
