  1. 920bt is faster however alot of people perfer the navigaiton in the F series compared to the X920 and x930....pioneer changed the navigation and some like it but from what i have read most people dislike it. the software will just make the x920 a x930. you can compare the two on pioneers website. they have check list to show the differences between the two

  2. I've seen x930 available in amazon as well. is it running old software currently?

no x930bt is running the 2011 software....but like pioneer does every year they will release an update for the 2010 x920bt (in may/june) to upgrade it to the 2011 software and you will still have voice recognition....if you get the x930bt there is no way to have voice recognition.

  3. i like the voice recognition. i would perfer to get the x920bt. its only 600 shipped brand new from amazon.com. remember pioneer will release the x930 software probably in may that will upgrade the x290 to the x930

  4. My old F90BT has voice recognition. How come new X does not have it?

the x910bt and x920bt have voice recognition however pioneer removed the hardware needed for voice on the x930bt.

  5. Overall the new X and Z units are MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the old F series. Hands down, no comparison. However, the F series, and the X910 had a different navigation interface that some people prefer over the new one. Inlcude me in this group. I have an X910 and use a Z120 a lot while at work and I like the navigation one the X better. But, when it comes to speed, reliability, features, etc...the new X and the Z take the cake.

Thanks for your response. i wil continue with the purchase of a x920bt i was looking at...hopefully can get use to the new navi interface.

  6. I keep hearing that the new X series and Z series are WORST than the F series? I had a f90bt about a year ago and sold it when i sold my car and i loved it. Only problem i had was it didnt always reconize my voice for making a phone call. It was great at picking a source or album on my ipod by voice. I am in the process of looking for a x920bt or z120bt. So pioneer took steps back in comparison to the F series?

  7. sign up for their email pushes - that's how I got mine for $390 - 30% discount, $100 rebate, and then they had a "golden special", which is a 2-hour discount window that took off another 20%. If it wasn't for my email link to Amazon, I never would have known about that last special.

where do you sign up for the email pushes at?

  8. Wow this is amazing...Takes some times to remember everything and where its at but once you do its so much easier to use. everything is on the map without having to exit. Thanks IDT, im gonna paypal you some cash tomorrow

    one quesiton i have is,

You know when you dont touch the map for a while the top icons dim a little bit until you touch the screen again....is there a way to make them totally disapear so you can have a cleaner map look until you need them again. and then just touch the screen and they pop back up and then you can press which one you need?

    Thanks again

I bought my avic f90bt in sept 2008...my house that was built in 2007 WAS not on the damn maps...freakin crazy. this new 3.0 update not only has maps in it but also has firmware updates that are needed to make the unit run better. They shipped it with way to many bugs. And with something like a stereo most of the time you cant speed all the time and effort (maybe money if you pay for install) just to turn around a couple weeks later and find out its a piece of shit and just return it. I sorta understand them charging for maps but to charge for updates to a buggy unit is astounding. They should have atleast released the firmware update seperate for free. But since the maps were so old they should have given the maps for free or atleast at a better price like in the $20-30 area. So f*** pioneer.

  10. When will we see map updates? I just installed the f90bt and in Jan I will be moving to a new house in a new subdivision that is not on any maps since it was just started like 2 months ago. Any way to get those street on my gps?

    Thanks

  11. My unit tries to dial the 415 area code, and I'm in Toronto, Canada- does anyone know for sure if it is actually a collect call? The last thing I want is a bunch of long distance calls to the US on my bill...

Additionally, is there a way to edit the number GOOG-411 uses, such as theri 1-800 instead?

why not just make a contact with the goog 411 number and use taht instead?

  12. Hey everyone.

I recently stumbled upon F700BT and it looks like this is the unit I've been waiting for (I was thinking of building a carputer before that).

One of my problems with it is that it looks like to get a full media library for it, you need an Ipod.

For those who own this unit (or similar), is there a way to run the media library off an SD card or a portable hard drive attached to the unit? I'm talking about cover art, voice search etc. In the video review, it looked like music played from an SD card just used simple file/folder structure.

    Thanks!

voice commands and cover art only work on ipod. the voice commands are great especally when you have a manual transmission car. Just invest in an ipod. you can get the 5.5 which work great with the avic with both music and movies for ~70 bucks for a 30gig or a ~100buck for a 60gig. the new models drives down the price of the old ones. the old ones work perfect since you dont even use the ipod other than hooking it to the unit everythign is controlled from the head unit and the ipod sits in the glove box.
