1. Just verifed that PAC SWI-PS will work on Crutchfield's site by changing vehicle to 01 Pathfinder w/BOSE

Check out the feedback section of the product. Someone already installed one on an 01 Pathfinder

I got this unit so that I could keep using the built-in steering wheel radio controls on my '01 Nissan Pathfinder. Installation can be a bit tricky. In my case I had to solder included resistors since each button on the control was wired separately but the adapter uses only one wire as input (white for my car). Important not to use resistors over 2k ohm for this vehicle!!! Manual didn't mention this and the first time I had some buttons not respond to programming until I replaced the resistors (all included). Other than that works exactly as expected. Very nice to be able to use the same controls!

I have the SWI-PS and it works great! Good luck!

2. dcmidnight -

I mounted the GPS and XM ants next to each other in the area where my third break light resided on the rear interior deck. Even with the tinted windows I get no issues, GPS reads 6-7 sats and XM reads very strong status

Thanks for the break light idea (and pic). I had easy access to the same location from the inside the trunk. I get very strong status. I also get signal inside my garage! How is it possible to get better signal buried under the rear deck than on the roof of the car?? Thanks again!

3. Looks great!

I already moved my XM ant inside the car. I put it on top of the rear deck for now. I like what you did and may try it.

You should have the lead for the SAT ant pointing towards the rear of the car. I am not sure if it makes a difference, but I remember the install instructions being very specific on this. It may explain why your positioning is off. You should also make sure the speed wire is connected, as it will improve positioning accuracy. There is also an adjustment to help positioning under “Settings/System Options/Installation Angle Setupâ€. Looking at your photo, I think it should be set for “centeredâ€.

4. Thanks for the update. I also stumbled across this trying to get my son's phone to transfer the address book.

http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/961298-1.html

In answer to some of those, you can transfer phone book, and it is actually tied into the automatically connecting part. Once you pair your phone to the deck, you need to go into the function menu and 'register' your phone to the deck. This will allow automatic pairing when in range and allow you to transfer your contacts. Your phone disconnects from the deck when you hit phone book transfer because it has to disable the handsfree profile. You just need to go to your phonebook on the phone and send each contact 1 by 1 via bluetooth (thats my only gripe) to the deck and it will accept it. Once that is done, exit out of the phonebook transfer screen and wait a few seconds and the deck should automatically repair itself to your phone. I had the exact same problem with my motorola v3, but I figured it out. Hope this helps.
5. I just pulled the same unit out of my Regal and put in my son's Accord. I could not get my Sprint phone to transfer the address book. Bluetooth functionality is going to vary based on carrier, phone, and BT version. For example, Verizon blocks the ability to transfer the address book via BT on all their phones.

You should dig around at http://www.caraudio.com/forum/ to see if you can find further answers. Good luck

6. Wow. You are very passionate about Sirius. I had Sirius for a year and liked it. I had it connected to three different head units (all direct connect to Pioneer equipment). I thought to poor sound quality was the Pioneer AUX adapter. I ruled that out with my son's IPOD as it sounded great.

I think Sirius has a great marketing machine (as does Microsoft). If the N2 would of had a better interface with Pioneer Sirius tuner, I would have opted for that as my wife's car has Sirius (from the factory) and I could get my subscription for half price.

The improved sound quality was a bonus for me. I had read that XM had better sound quality, but chalked if off as XM lovers beating down Sirius.

The only time I hear commercials is on the comedy stations. Same was true for Sirius.

I think XM vs Sirius is good for all of us. The competition means better pricing, channel selection, and expanded support from the major audio makers.

7. A couple months ago, I replaced by Sirius Sporter Replay (connected with Pioneer AUX adapter) with the Pioneer XM/NavTraffic receiver (GEX-P10XMT). My primary motivation was to get all the channel/artist/song displayed on my N2.

I was blown away by the improved sound quality of XM. XM almost sounds as good as my CDs. Sirius sounded more like my radio stations.

The best example is when I listen to the comedy station. When I had Sirius, I was constantly changing loudness / low frequency settings because voice (mid-range) was coming through my subwoofer. With XM, the voice come through clean only to my speakers. I can tell a big difference with music as well. The sound is less muffled and the highs/lows are much cleaner through the speakers/sub.

I also like the music channels much better on XM. I not a sports or Howard Stern fan, so I do not miss Sirius.

8. Thanks for the idea to hack up a factory radio to create a fake face plate. I found a radio at a local salvage yard (paid $5.00). First I shaved off the face plate and super glued all the buttons back on. Then I cut a right angle bracket with a 1 inch lip into the top of the AVIC. The metal plate fits perfectly in the crack between the AVIC face and the body. Finished it off with electrical tape around the edge. In a dark parking lot, theives will not look twice!

OK, check it out . . .

9. This site was a great resource for my install. I read the manual before I purchased and had alot of questions that the Pioneer site did not answer in their knowledge base. I can't wait to get some more quality time with the D2 and explore this site!

Dash Installation in 97-04 Buick Regal
Get ready to drill and cut! I had to drill out the rivots on the medal brace behind the factory radio and bend it up out of the way. Then I had to cut out the plastic section of the brace to allow the depth of the unit.

I went to Best Buy and got the standard mounting kit. It was a bag of about 30 parts and I only needed two brakets for either side of the unit.

Satellite Antenna
Thanks avic411 for the advise for mounting the satellite antenna under my dashbord. If you reach through the radio opening, you will feel a metal brace just below the skin of the upper dashboard. Attach the magnetic antenna on top of the brace with the cable pointing to the rear of the car. I always have 6-8 satellites in reception while driving and 3-4 while I am parked in my garage.

Parking Brake Bypass
The advise on AVIC411 worked like a charm. One this is not very clear is that after you boot the unit, turn off the car and pull the power/speaker harness off the back of the unit for a few seconds and put it back on.

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
Did not hook it up yet. Both nav and dynamics are working great.

By the way, I also have an amp/sub, 12-Disc changer, and the AUX adapter w/Sirius attached to the unit. Everything works great!

OK, enough discussion, here is the PIC.
