I would need a US/CANADA volunteer with an AVIC F900/X910 supporting MSNDirect to test my new update. Any volunteer out there? Please PM me!

 

There are lot and lot of unused scripts and user-interface graphics associated with MSN v2.0 and waste lot of CPU resources and RAM. I dont' have MSNDirect so I can't test this "faster" and simplified version.

I have a F90 that supports it, but the MSN Direct around here has been turned off at whatever radio station provided it. Last time it updated was back in March. Suck.

Well, I have something new and can't help but willing to share with you guys ... I am working to combine the best of both worlds: AUTO SWITCHING between SmartTrack (2D/2D North) and SmartZoom (3D) while you change between 2D/2DN/3D map modes.

There are probably a lot of folks like me that check this forum every day or so for updates, but don't post very often. Believe me your work is appreciated. If my F90 died today, I'd go find another one just to be able to run your mods.

 

If you are looking for the entry field of the POI search, here is the bmp to replace: inside the DATA.zip\ui_pionner\800_480\746_32K_MN-050_24b.bmp. Instead of updating the DATA.ZIP, you can extract the bmp from Pioneer's original iGo DATA.ZIP, which is blue, and save it under \My Flash Disk\APL2\iGo\ui_pioneer\800_480.

This is a generic problem with 3DCars addon. It appears that not all the cars have been tested by the original modder, which lead to this problem (not only my mod, but any mod in this forum running 3DCars addon). It is a matter of try-and-error. For myself, I'd choosen the Hummer to represent my SUV, and it works, and that's it!

 

For your problem, all you have to do is boot into Testmode v2.3 (for FW 3.x), delete the folder \My Flash Disk\User\UserData\igo, and reboot. This has nothing to do with DATA.ZIP or SYS.TXT, it is with the embedded car image from the 3DCars external addon, whose selection should be stored in that folder. You would have to setup again your personal preference afterward.

Weird definitely not in UserData, I know that I had that deleted before since it seemed the obvious place and just did the same again. Tried with no userdata, no userdata + 3dcar folder gone, tried replacing userdata with a backup copy I had - all no dice. I was finally able to get it working by changing settings to default on a reboot that didn't go to map. Either way I'm back up and rolling now with the arrow which is just fine. I have a blue tundra so nothing in 3dcars close to it anyway, so all good. Thanks again Chuck. You need paypal.

Still running the mod from yesterday (2.8d), but ran into an issue tonight with the 3dcars. I picked a random car (blue is all I remember), prompt then avic rebooted, and now it reboots as soon as I get to the map screen, over and over. If it boots to the Main Menu it's fine until I hit the map button. I replaced the data.zip, sys.txt, replaced the entire 3dcars folder again, and cleared all the userdata, but the reboots are still going. Can you tell me where the pointer is to the cars so I know which file I might need to edit/replace?

Weird. I knew where the fading was to toggle, but last night it was staying greyed out even with the icons on. This morning no issues. Maybe I got something whacked by doing all the mad-clicking trying out all the new stuff. Either way, that part is resolved.

I see I also overlooked tapping the compass to change map view in the instructions, thanks for the reminder.

One last thing that I wanted to ask (beside still wanting a paypal), and that is about the colors on the POI search screen with the keyboard. Is there any way to make the fade a little darker? It's pretty hard to read as the character colors kindof disappear into the fade. See this thread for an example:

Mod is awesome, I really really like what you have done with it. I'm a fan of smartzoom, so I've been running an older ABB mod for many many months.

So a question about this one, seems I'm one of the few that likes the top-menu buttons - I really like the single press to get to my quickest items. So in past mods, there was a shortcut on the top-menu to flip directly from 3d/2d/2d-N. In this one it seems to have disappeared, and looks like it was replaced with the MSN button (again, I use this one daily, MSN traffic works great here).

So 2 questions I guess:

First, any way to put the 3d/2d/2d-N button back - maybe replace the power button? I know I can get to 3d/2d/2N fast with a couple presses using the Map Browser, just not when I choose the icons.

Second, with the auto-fading bar turned on, I don't seem to be able to select the percentage.

Or am I overlooking something on both?

Another option: Try a friends IPOD that is the same model. If it reproduces then you know it's the Avic. If not it's the IPOD.

wow - I hope Pioneer updates the software pronto to reflect this - nothing worse than a greyed out icon to remind you of something you don't have anymore

FYI, there is a 1-800-BING-411. No idea if there is a method to update the shortcut to dial this instead.

I'm OK with the new colors on the IPOD screen, but they are sometimes hard to read.

The one that does bug me that I use daily though is the POI search screen with the keyboard. It's pretty hard to see the text you have typed on that one with the new theme and the white fade across the center, but I deal because the rest of the mod is so awesome. If there is a way to turn off the fade just for that page, I'd be forever grateful.

So I've been running IDT's mods for a long time, and kinda dropped off the forum. Just came back in and installed this one and WOW what was I waiting for. I have 2 questions though, if anyone can help.

First, looks like the links for downloading the Navteq's are gone - can anyone please send me the NC and SC files? I'll be happy to provide an upload if you don't have a link, just ping me.....

Also, I don't really like having the Power Off button - I removed it from the IDT mods. But here, I just went and commented out the Blankscreen in navigatemap_800_480.ui, and uncommented the MSN Direct lines and changed the x/y/z for MSN to match the ones from Blankscreen. The button is there and works, but doesn't fade along with the others. Can anyone point me to where I should look to change it?

So my question is before I buy this pioneer unit does it need to be the mute wire or can I use another wire in the harness or make my own.

99% of users don't need the mute wire, hence it's easier to move it.

Yes, you could make your own, or take one from an alternate harness, etc.

No not really. There isn't a fix, though there is some mucking around in sys.txt that might improve it for you a little depending on what you're doing. At the top of this page, in search, type 3d street names. You'll get 30+ pages of results. Sorry but you're going to have to wade through it if you want the full deal.

Not sure why yours is acting up, but mine works probably 5 seconds after I start the car, WAY before full boot. Also F90BT, 3.0. I have no resistors though....

Yes but don't bother. Most folks that use them don't like the perfomance. Get a used IPOD, you'll be MUCH happier with the experience. Do a search for more info.

I dunno about Video Ipods, but on my IPOD Classic I have to turn on TV-Out on the IPOD itself. Disconnect it from the cable, set the option, plug it back in and test.

I have the same 160GB Classic. I had cut-out problems also, even with the Apple cable, but after the 3.0 update that is a thing of the past. I've lost connection to the IPOD maybe twice in several months, and both times the IPOD was locked/frozen after I unplugged it to check. Did hard reboots on the IPOD (hold the center and play buttons at same time for ~10 seconds), plugged it back in to Avic, problem solved.

I am hardware bypassed with a ton of mods, and I can do ANYTHING I want with the unit at any driving speed.

But yea, there is still a little nag item that you have to click OK to when I try to play movies from my Ipod (classic 160GB). It's rare that I do that, but the prompt does happen everytime. I don't ever remember this coming up as a topic for discussion in the past, but yea having that go away would be nice.

I could do without the album art, but I really like having the AV button.

But what I would REALLY like, is to have short-click pull up the current source as it does currently, and maybe long-click pull up a shortcut menu of the other AV choices. So I could select and go directly from say my IPOD to Satellite, versus having to poke around trying to get to the FM selection for example.

Does it happen if you remove the USB stick from the equation? I have FM/AM/CD or DVD/Sirius....and an IPOD.

I'm also running with the ezrider and IDT mods (and a few minors of my own), but when I restart the car it has never changed positions. In fact, its one of the things I like about the unit.

Maybe the USB stick itself is a problem point - I've never really played with one of those as i just use my Ipod instead. If you remove that, do the others function as expected? Turn off car with radio on...get radio on boot. Turn off car with CD on....get CD on boot, etc. Then maybe add the USB to your test matrix, confirm how the results change. And if you have a friend with an IPOD you can borrow....might be worth adding it to the mix as well.

Maybe the USBStick is seen as a sort of "drive mount" device or something that take priority over anything else.
