  1. Hey, I saw some of your posts in the f series forum looking for documentation, I think your on the right track...

But I noticed a behavior of my x710bt when connected via Bluetooth to my iPhone: if I had a voice mail it would mute the current audio source and play the message then without input from me, it would return to the correct source after playing the voice mail.

Maybe you can set up a Bluetooth connection on your CB setup and have your radio assume it's a phone playing a voice mail...

    No unique hardware

    No software hacking

I will admit my knowledge is limited but I think the Bluetooth method would be cheaper and faster. There is a micro control board called an arduino and attachments for it that let it connect over Bluetooth, maybe something like that connected to your CB speaker (again idle thoughts...)

  2. The short answer: it would not be easy, if at all possible.

You would need to have a program running on the windows side that could detect your squelch signal. In addition to that you would need a custom piece of hardware from your ham radio to the USB port on the x710 (for the squelch signal). If the program worked you may be able to switch between sources.

I have seen wiring kits that would let a person use extra buttons on there steering wheel for volume and channel, but nothing for what I described above. You would need to make the back end program, install it, and make the hardware...

I have seen some amazing hacks here but this one would take a while to do, if at all.

If you make headway I'm sure there would be others interested in the results.

    Good luck.

  3. I have the F90BT in my mustang, and I use my iPhone 3G as well. I am able to control every thing you mentioned with the head unit.

A couple of things to keep in mind... The iPhone remembers the last location in a video you were watching, as a result, you could select a video and end up watching credits... (You have to change the settings in the iPhone not the head unit). And also the head unit cannot get past the iPhone password, you need to enter your 4 digit code into your phone then connect it to your head unit after it has fully loaded (the alternative is to turn off the security for the phone).

Other than the above problems (which are easily avoided), it has been easy to control my iPhone from the head unit, even making call via bluetooth is simple

  4. Is there a way to get the addresses from contacts in my phone book on my phone. I would like to be able to have them in my list of contacts on my f90bt, so I can simply click on a contact, and either call, or drive to the stored address for that person (I go cross country a lot...).

    on a side note...

The new 3.0 sdk for the iPhone is supposed to allow communication between iPhone enabled hardware and the iPhone, is it possible to use this to make an app that can tell the f90bt to open the map window and goto a specified address?

  5. You should just take the data.zip you have and go into it (dont extract) find the file, and make your changes, and save the file. This way you don't have to extract anything. Then replace the data.zip that you have on your nav.

As far as I know there is no compression tool that will allow you to edit a zipped file without extracting it on a mac. If any one knows of one please let me know

    Thanks...

  6. I could really use this, I just bought a 90BT and all I want is the video bypass, and if possible the the adjustment to allow more memory to be used for applications. The reason I am asking is because I own a mac, and I have not been able to find a compression tool that will let me edit a zip file without extracting it....

If any one can help me out either with the modded files, or by pointing out a tool that will work on a mac, I would appreciate that.

    Thanks :D
