  1. Ooooooooooo

I get it now. I greatly misunderstood

You don't like the bluetooth so you got an external bluetooth module that has a video output that you plugged in to an RCA in and whenever it sends an image the AVIC freezes just like mine.

So yea - same symptom exactly

The weird thing to me - my rear camera input is working perfectly (using a Pioneer Backup camera...

Isn't that the same protocol - just passing an RCA feed to the screen?

  2. These two symptoms have nothing in common...

It's a video input (which should just be passing thru an RCA feed) versus a data feed freezing the system (which actually makes the system think)

That being said - Here's my reply to your post

have you let it run for an hour straight yet?

I used to have glitchy symptoms with my bluetooth at first, but after I went on a road trip with bluetooth connected the whole time - it fixed itself for good

And is the whole system frozen? Cause you said you can get to the contacts screen...making me think it's not...

Is the phone slower at all while the AVIC is frozen like that? That would be a sign of the address book transfer stalling out...

  3. I have no idea how this could happen...

My AV1 input works great for audio. Usually I have it hooked up with the IPod, but every once in a while I'd like to hook up a game consul...

I have switched the input to 'Video' from 'IPod'

As soon as a video feed begins running through the RCA cable - the system completely freezes. No buttons (hardware or software side) respond at all. And the image from the input comes through for one frame, then freezes on that one frame. The audio continues to work from that input. If I unplug the video, everything immediately works again like nothing happened. As soon as I plug it back in - the system freezes again with the first frame that is sent at the time it is plugged back in... (i.e. if you unplug and plug it back in rapidly - it's working...at a frame rate of .25 frames per second)

    Any ideas?

  4. I would love that!

I'd give up the steering wheel 'source' switch button for a voice command button!

...but I personally don't know how to do it...

    Please!! Someone!!

If not just how to add a voice command button on the screen because clicking that button in is annoying!

  5. Well it sounds like you are getting audio already, right?

    Just want to remove video...

Well you can't 'turn-off' video input

just select the input so you start hearing it - then hit the map button

effectively hiding the black screen - but still listening to audio

  6. Nice! Just what I was looking for! How pathetic of PIONEER! WOW! This is awesome!

Anyway, does anyone have these files edited that they can upload? Or does the code need to be edited individually?

I say this because I'm trying to edit the files, but it's a bit more complicated than I thought.

I thought I could use someone else's files as a template...

Mav posted his data.zip in the first post of the thread (right above where the pics start).

And I'd like to personally throw out my opinion on something...

Pioneer programmers don't suck.. Their opinion of how to lay out the user interface is just different. I guarantee they know how to make all of Mav's mods, but they actually preferred it the way they made it.

Now I think all of Mav's mods are fantastic, but I could see how a programmer could see it as cluttered (too many buttons on one screen).

    It's all preference.

Now when we start seeing forum posters fixing all the bugs not helped by 2.0 and decreasing boot time to 5 seconds - I'll agree that the Pioneer programmers suck.

Just my 2 cents - unnecessary people bashing is...well...unnecessary

  7. Can anyone tell me how to make 'time-to-destination' show instead of 'time of arrival'?

I tried doing it in the UI (settings>nav settings>visual>etc), but it doesn't change anything...

I currently have all three boxes showing time-to-destination in the UI, and yet it's still MPH, Time-of-Arrival, and Distance-To-Destination (I think... it's however the mod has it)

    Thanks in advance

    bump

...Really....no one can tell me how to fix this??

Seems like it would be pretty basic...

  10. I sent all of them on wedns and thursday so it should be there any day now. It's the US mail so enough said.

Ahh good ole snail mail - got mine today

    Looks great in my Element

Fit right on - perfect size - not too long at all

I actually think it's easier now to hit the voice command button (instead of accidentally hitting zoom or track skip)

And at night, it's a huge difference - much easier to change the volume

    Thanks Tom!

  11. lol I like the black knob

next photoshop: metallic blue with black o-ring! lol (at least I think it'd be cool)

sooo... I haven't gotten the one I ordered yet....

Just thought I'd throw that out there since I was like one of the first to order...

Any idea on why? Did mine get sent?

  12. I agree with you guys he should of warned everyone and the people who payed should get it for the $12. BUT have any of you guys actually machined anything in your life before. First off metal is expensive these days, secondly machining takes a lot of time, a lot of expensive tools/programs are needed, and a lot of experiences is needed to get the correct tolerances. I can say for shure at $12 it was not worth his time, and if you factor in all the tools and stuff he was most likely loosing money in the deals. So if you dont like his price, take the picture he so nicely posted for you and see if you can get it done for cheaper than $22. I have access to mills and machining tools and I would rather pay the $22 then make it myself, because I know whats involved.

    X2 man

    Well said

Yes he should have warned of price increase - but the man is working crazy hard and not makin much off it - so chill out

  13. BTW - Has anyone received theirs yet??

    Shipped any out Tom?

    Excitedly awaiting patiently!

Funny how curious I am to see the improvement... People always think of 2D up or button response or FM radio info.... All software stuff.

But I bet this will make a huge difference!

  14. I paid this joker for a knob.. he runs in here and jacks the price up AFTER I paid him for the knob and then comes back to me asking for more money. Then, when I tell him just to refund me, he says "Well, I dont know how to refund you so Ill just do it for the $12.00" and then he goes ahead and refunds me anyway.

umm...if I get your story right....

He figured out how to refund you, and gave you back your money...

How does that make him a crook??

Besides - did you want one with a groove for the o-ring or a different color? It's very clearly stated that those will be extra.

Cmon man - this guy seems to be working so hard to make these and ship them out. The last thing he probably needs is a guy saying he's a crook before he can even make the first group of shipments.

I ordered an original style one and have gotten no such price jack email.

  15. Just for benchmarking purposes for you F-series owners :D

The Z3 back up camera is almost instantaneous at about 2-3 seconds after startup.

That means you can operate your camera without waiting and has the OEM Navi style functionality.

    Yea....yoy may be right...

But once we're up - our functionality and look is better than OEM
