  1. launch the pin. take a piece of small gauge wire like 22 or smaller. lightly tin the wire. use a pic to slightly enlarge the pin hole facing radio. insert pull thru and bend over into plastic of plug and insert plug into radio. it will never come loose unless you unplug the harness jim

All good ideas, I guess I have to take this dash apart regardless, might as well do it right so that I don't have to do this again. I'll let you all know how it works out.

    Thanks for your input!!

  2. Take the wire back out and readjust the little pin in the middle so it catches. Then make sure the hole that the pin will go into is a little tight and click it back in. I had this issue but did these things to tighten it.

I was afraid that this was going to be one of the options, I'd have to take apart the dash again since I had soldered all of the connections. I might have to try this though because its a pain not having the bypass work especially when needing to plug in different routes while driving.

  3. Alright fellas, so here is my issue; I did the bypass on my Z110 and everything worked fine for a few days, all of a sudden, I received the infamous message about the parking break lead not being connected. I knew my connection were done right because I double checked everything before installing and I soldered all the connections.

I figured my ground was not connecting properly so I tried it at a different location and the message still kept coming up. Well after looking through the forum and seeing the problems that others had, I figured the connection of my mute wire was not making a solid contact. Well I pushed the pin in as much as I could and tried it out and that was the issue. Problem fixed right??? Not at all, for some reason it keeps coming loose and I already crimped the wire close to the pin because of me trying to push it in so many times.

Has anyone else had this problem, is there a way of strengthening that wire without me having to pull the whole harness out? I figured trying to add solder to it to give it a little rigidness, but it seems risky?

    Any advice is appreciated!

  4. I found out the phone's bluetooth is defective so T-mobile is sending a new one. We tested another MyTouch 4g and it connected flawlessly. A G2 worked as well. Thanks for your responses. I appreciate it.

I have the exact same issue with the same phone. I also had an HTC Desire with the same issue. I thought it was a problem with HTC phones Bluetooth connection with this unit?? I called T-Mobile and they never gave me the option of returning the phone. Extremely annoying to have this type of head unit and not be able to have it work through the bluetooth connection??

  5. In that case, how do you turn it on while driving? I think it just turns off the backlight of the LCD screen.

It actually turns of the radio or video but the side menu bar remains on for the options to turn on the desired media. If you want the screen to turn off as well, you go to the settings tab on the main menu and then tap the "screen off" tab on the bottom right side. This gives you a complete black screen and all media is off as well. To turn it back on, just hit any of the front buttons or tap the screen. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it works for me.

  6. Answer the call then switch it.

Thats exactly what I do... I receive a call -> pick up the call on z110bt -> **ringing stops over the speakers ** -> switch to either speakerphone or iphone -> ***ringing starts back up again over the speakers (while talking to the person on the other line!) ***

    Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Do you all think this could be happening because of an echo feedback that the mic could be picking up from the Iphone 4? Isn't it supposed to have and enhanced mic with noise reduction?

  7. You can still use Pandora over BT audio streaming you just wont have the interface. I certainly wouldn't let the lack of the Pandora interface stop me from getting the new phone. Especially sense Pioneer may actually have their act together and have an update for Pandora link for the new phone eventually.

This is good news, I really wanted to have the Pandora feature weather via BT audio streaming or the APP once its available. I have made up my mind on getting the IPHONE (4thGeneration ) : ) I hope that Pioneer will surprise us and tell us that they have been proactive and are already working on it. Apple must have told developers who have created recent Apps about the new interface. Either way, I am weary about the connection, I've had different generation I-touch's that charge on some devices made for earlier generations, but will not charge the newer ones? Hope this is not the case here.

  8. Tunez, I agree, I dont think splicing will be needed. I just went over all of the wiring and everything seems to be available. I probably will make an extension to reach the harness by the amp like one that I saw in Club Lexus.

Tommy, I had purchased the trim from Carson Toyota since I heard it was the best match, but did you notice the small gap around the edges, is there a trim that will cover that? Let's see some pics : )

  9. With all this hype about the new software coming on the Z120BT and 920BT's. I decided to go ahead and get the Z110BT so I can get the software update when it comes out allowing me to save a little money. My car (08 Mustang GT) is currently at the shop and I'll be able to pick it up this afternoon after it is finished being installed. I'm very excited about getting this Pioneer as I've been eye'ing the Avics for about 2 years now and didn't pull the trigger on one (was looking at the 90BT, and 910BT previously. I've already got the Avic Feeds iphone app installed and ready to go woot! Can't wait for the Pandora plugin app.

Only thing that sucks is that I didn't get it as cheap as I would have liked to (in-store display model, not online) and they wouldn't do the bypass. I'll think about doing the bypass myself.

    Murph

Murph, where did you here about the Pandora plugin app?? I just purchased the Z110 as well but haven't installed it yet and one of my wish list items for it was the Pandora plugin. Do you know if you have to puchase the Z120 upgrade to get it?

  10. I just put one in my 01 gs300 last month. If i recall correctly, the front speakers are 2 ohms, but the tweeter and door speaker are wired in series to create a 4 ohm load. The rear speakers are 4 ohms. I used the Metra 8112 to bypass the amp. The harness was only used for the speaker leads. I ended up splicing into the harness for the power and ignition. Lemme know if you have any questions.

Thanks Tommy, i had already pcked up the 8112 on Tunez advice, but you gave me the info on the impedance that I needed. Which wires did you end up splicing for the power and ignition? Are you happy with the way it turned out? Any pics?

  11. Thanks Tunez, I will look into those. I do have the non navigation unit so the ac controls are not integrated. Questions; what do you think about the ohm rating on the stock speakers? I will take a reading this week to confirm, but I have read that the stock speakers are 2 ohms and this units minimum is 4. Do you know anything about this? If I replace the speakers do I have to replace the stock amp as well?

    Thanks!!

  12. I finally purchased the Z110BT and am ready to install, but do not want to go hardwire every connection in the unit. Is there a harness that I can use for a 2001 Lexus GS300? I've done some research and came across a Lexus IS Blog in which they mentioned using Metra TYTO-01 harness, but not sure if its only good for the IS? I've also been reading that I can't or should be very careful in keeping my stock speakers because they are 2 ohms vs the minimum 4 required by the unit? Any thoughts on this? Basically, what I want to know is if I have to go and purchase an amp and 4 new 4 ohm speakers before installing the unit?

Thanks for your input, ALL is appreciated. LOVE THIS SITE!
