1. First I want to thank all who made this Z3 image upgrade possible.

I bought a 60GB toshiba drive (unlocked). I followed all the amazing information on this forum and had it up and running with the new Z3 image in about 1 hour. So far it seems to be working. We will see over the next few days how it holds up.

I have a couple of questions.

I want to get the music off my original z1 HD.

    1. Can I image the original Z1 drive and then restore the music partition to the 60GB tosh. dr?

If so must I first unlock the original z1 drive (since I can't see it on my pc)? Will unlocking the original HD hurt the drive or the integrity of the original image?

    2. Can I put the original z1 drive back in the Avic? Will it still work as is or will that cause problems when I reinsert the new 60 GB HD.

    3. How do I increase the music space? Do I just reallocate unused space to the music partition using Acronis? Should I restore my original music partition then increase the space?

  2. Basically what brandon is trying to say is that there are a lot of people here with a lot of knowledge and are willing to share it gladly.

The problem is there are a lot of legitimate questions that these people feel obligated to answer and it is real frustrating to see questions asked where it is clear that the person asking did absolutely no searching at all, they made no effort what so ever.

    For example.

A simple search for "Bypass" yields 10 pages with 490 posts with many related to the bypass hack.

There are just some basic forum rules like Search b4 asking.

It can be real exasperating to see posts that have already been discussed into oblivion. It clutters the forum and dilutes the useful posts.

If someone gets snippy because you apparently did absolutely no research you should apologize, do some homework then, if you still can't find what you are looking for, explain your search query dead ends and i am sure you will be welcomed with open arms.

    Respekt.

  3. I started ths thread last year. No one seemed interested at the time.

    http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... sheildzone

My sheildzone skin as been on for almost a year. You can't even notice its there. Have them on all my electronic devices. Great product!

I too was afraid of the spray but it really helps align the screen and remove the bubbles. No problems w damage to the device due to the liquid. Just spray it on as directed - you shouldn't have any problems. I used a dry rag to dry it off after installation.

When I ordered mine they didn't have one for the Z1 so I ordered the Clarion OHM-D74 Screen Shield and modified it. I have had no problems with it at all.

  4. I am another satisfied customer. (Of this board)

I just installed the Bluetooth fix and lost my bypass flashing capability. I followed the directions for the 07/06 2 wire ground bypass and it works perfectly. No more flashing or flashing circuits!

I just wanted to thank everyone, on this board, who puts in all the time and hard work to give us these seemingly simple fixes. I don't know what I would do without AVIC411.com

    Thank-you again.

  5. Well I got my Shieldzone protectors in the mail. I ordered the Clarion OHM-D74 Screen Shield it is listed a a 7" screen. It turns out to be slightly taller than the Z1 and a hair less wide. So I cut it down to fit. The shortnes in the width is not enough to be noticable. About 1/32" on each side.

I am amazed a how invisible and durable this thing is. No loss of brightness on the screen.

I bought one for my cell phone and one for my kids nintendo. So far I find them to be the bes screen savers around.

Check out the videos on their website!
  6.
I have contacted boxwave about their screen protectors. They make the best (no lie) screen protectors out there. I use them on my pda and have never had a problem with them. The antiglare ones are great because they show no oil or fingerprints and reduce glare (thus the name). They also have a crystal clear version, but they do show oils/fingerprints. They are good because they are crystal clear, like there is absolutely no protector on it.

They are kind of expensive $12 for a PDA, but they are the best ones I have tried (I have tried about 10 different brands). They are definitely worth the money to protect your screen, I go through one about every six months on my PDA, but I also carry it in my pocket. I think one on a Z1 would last at least a year if not longer.
How do they compare to the Sheildzone?
From the videos it seems that one Sheildzone protector could last for years. The are supposedly indestructable and completely invisible. They were supposedly created to protect helcopter blades. The videos look convincing but I am still skeptical.
  7.
Anyone using a screen protector sheet like a nushield? How easy is the Z1 to clean fingerprints off of?

    ~Scott
I too have been concerned about damage to the screen. I found this company that seems to make an amazing product.

    http://www.shieldzone.com/

If they are for real then this product has got to be the best screen protector out there. Check out the videos. Seems to be virtually indestructable and completely transparent.

I ordered a Clarion OHM-D74 Screen Shield. According to clarion it has a 7" TFT display so it should fit on the Z1.

I use screen protectors on my PDA phone and have to constatly replace them. They get all scratched up. If theses guys live up to their claims you should never have to buy another screen protector.

I ordered 1 for the Z1, 1 for my cell phone and 1 for my kids Nintendo DS

I will keep you posted and will post pictures after installing.
  8. I am contemplating getting the bluetooth adapter for the Z1.

I was wondering does the Z1 phone acces function in full dulplex mode or half duplex mode?

In other words when the caller talks does it mute the person you are calling or does it function like a regular phone where the caller and called party can speak and hear at the same time?

I have used many car kits with various phones in the past that would only funtion in half duplex mode and found it real annoying.
