  1. Let me start by saying, I'm no expert.

I have researched this mod and all I can come up with is, you need a coversion software to

turn your image from a bmp file to a mdl and I think tex file.

If the images are not in the above format, it will not work.

I've surfed the web trying to find a free download for the image converter that would support these formats, but have been unsuccessful.

There's absolutely nothing that will ever convert a BMP into an MDL file, because MDLs are actual 3D models, and you simply can't make them from a BMP.

There is a program called "3D Object Converter for Windows" that can load some 3D files and convert them to iGO's MDL format, though.

Thanks BorisM, I'll check this out too!

  2. nope, not really. Try entering 'fov=55' in your sys.txt in the debug section. This was found by someone else and seems to work well for me. You might want to play with the values depending on your zoom settings.

    IDT,

I just got back from a 30 min trip and here is what I found out:

Trip computer did not work as I a previously mention but i was using navteq maps (No Trip computer, no signboard) on split screen, so, I used the map changer and went back to TeleAtlas. Now on split screen, Trip Computer work and signboard shows up.

    Hope you understand!

as far as i know tripcomputer problems cannot be caused by maps at all, no one has resolved this problem and no one has a clue how to, i have been using trip computer ever since and have not had any problem with the tripcomputer, this is i think a problem with either the unit or iGO itself,

regarding the signboard, NAVTEQ maps don't have that much detail (signboard, speed limit signs, turn restrictions) as compared to teleatlas maps, well atleast here in canada, that's why the signboard is not showing up

Agree with abb1, it has to be software releated since now is working fine with teleatlas maps on my unit. I also tested with Diaftia's mod and work fine. No luck on navteq maps.

...thank you for the signboard fix!!! ...some Mula your way!!!

I also agree that it is software related given the fact that the TC works sometimes without issue then at other times it does not. I did a 3.0 install on a friends f90bt and his TC has worked ever since using the x910bt files. I have thought about doing a complete wipe on mine but I paid for the pioneer update and I don't have the time at the moment. (who really does anymore) something tells me that it has to do with a corrupted file just like the gpspara problem but even if I found this to be true it would be hard to keep it from happening.

Anyway, thanks IDT for the signboard fix. I'm going to give it a whirl.

  4. IDT,

I just noticed this morning that I'm not getting my highway sign notifications. I looked in the road sign screen and changed from signposts to roadsigns(or lane info?) a few times and they don't show up. I tried this with and without a route. In my sys.txt I still have the show_roadsign=1 value under debug. I also added fov=55 to it but I had that before and it did not kill the highway signs. thanks for any help.

  5. The fuelcalc works like a charm in standard measurements. I did notice that if you press the clock while in a trip the tripcomp overwrites the street label on the bottom of the screen. If you press the altitude setting the tripcomp appears at the top of the screen. It can be at both places at the same time. Nothing bad, just feedback. Thanks again, I'll fire up paypal again soon!

FIXED, all links updated, now it should work as shown on the image on the first page

    Paypal sent. Thanks again!

  6. Thanks, I'll let you know. As a side note my tripcomp started working again with this mod and it was pretty steady for a couple of trips then it stopped working. I was able to get it running again by deleting the saved routes or by entering a route then pulling up the tripcomp. It continued to work after I cancelled the route so I don't know which one affected it. It's too early to tell if this is worth anything but I figured I'd throw it out there, You probably don't want this to turn into a tripcomp thread so I'll resurrect one of the other ones if I'm on to something.

  7. To add to this, in my area there is a place called Union Terminal and everytime I approach the building from a certain angle the ground on the gps turns black and the roads are purple and loose there '3dness'. If I approach the building from a different angle everything appears normal. I'm using the real day v6 scheme. (sorry I don't forget the exact name) I just figure that it some uber top secret cold war left over and that there is a secret sub base in downtown Cincinnati 8)

  8. Don't forget that the EQ function is accessed by a small button in the top right next to the 'func' button. This is when you're on the main ipod control screen. On the f90bt you can also access the EQ settings from the 'settings' screen using the menu button. I'm not sure on the 500. If the button isn't there than you definitely have a software issue.

  9. make sure that all of your videos are not being skipped when played randomly. basically select them all then pick 'get info' then go to 'options' then make sure they are not being 'skipped while shuffling'. If they are being skipped you'll only get one video unless you directly select a different one. That's what worked for me. It may be better in later gen ipods.

  10. I just installed an ND-BC2 and it displays pretty consistently prior to the radio completely booting up. I read one member stating that his worked great at first but then started to not show after a while until the radio was completely booted. I'll post up as time goes on but I'm pretty okay with the camera/radio combo right now. Only okay because I expected the night vision to be a little better but It's a ton better than the cmos cameras that I've seen on my co-workers vehicles. The ND-BC2 was an EBAY score or I would have gone with a cheaper ccd chinese knockoff. I got the camera and a AVD-W6210 monitor for 210$. This monitor has a breakout box with multiple inputs and outputs.

  11. I'm not sure where the power drop is. I've read that it is the Ford wiring's way of protecting the system while the starter is cranking. so far my system is not bullet proof because the diodes drop the voltage by .4 to .5 volts and sometimes in cold weather the radio still reboots. The benefits of the way I do it is that I don't have to remember to throw the switch when I get out. The cap will drain within 15 seconds. I don't want to put out anything that's not right, so I'm gonna look for better diodes. I just got a pioneer camera and monitor so I'm on a different project right now. I bought a couple of extra overhead rail pockets so that I can mod them with a monitor for the kids. Overkill, I know, but it's fun.

  12. Let me get some info together and I'll post up. I started off by just wiring a 40buck .5 farad scosche cap from Wally mart in line to the 12v accessory wire. This works but when I tapped a door lock after opening the doors it caused the voltage from the cap to feed back into the truck and blew the 15amp fuse that covers the accessories after the vehicle is turned (exit delay?!?) This is where the diodes come in, they only allow voltage to flow in one direction. I bought them from radio shack but I don't have the number. The whole shebang cost me 50$ including the switch and cap. I will draw it up and post soon.
