  1. Hey guys. Thanks for ur hard work getting these fixes together. I finally got around to copying them to my f90 but since I did, the main menu settings button doesn't work. It lights up when pressed but doesn't load the settings screen. I have daftia's mod installed already, but no other changes. Also I noticed the images on the av screen are incorrect. For example, when on fm, it shows the iPod image at the top left (even though the source screen has them all correct) and the wrong time (correct time is shown when on a map though). Anybody have an idea how I could fix it?

Another thing to mention, the sd card I backed up to isn't reading at all, so I guess I don't have the original files to swap back in....

  2. Here are the TA maps of 2010.06. The complete USA, Canada & Mexico Maps & Premium POI's files. The DEM for North America, Canada & USA are also with this pack. If you want them. All the maps are in there own state rars so just get the ones you need. Like the state you live in & around you if you travel. This will save time & space on your unit.

anyone able to get the torrent to download? after extracting the .torrent and loading it with utorrent, i a getting a connection refused error from the tracker.

EDIT: forced utorrent to use the 2nd tracker on the list, its working now.. thanks!

  3. i typically rip @ 256 or 320 kbps, and usually re-encode any downloaded vbr files...

what you just described doing is called transcoding and makes your songs sound like crap

if you download variable bit rate mp3 and encode them to a flat 320 or whatever youre transcoding and ruining the sound quality. try to get it in the format you prefer, or if you can't just get FLAC and burn it to a disc and rip them that way.

but DONT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES re-rip something unless its FLAC

just a tip for sound quality

yeah.. i'm very aware of the negative effects of transcoding. although i avoid low bitrate and vbr mp3 files most of the time, once in a while i'm only able to find an album in vbr. in those rare situations, i'll take what i get. i have an old sansa mp3 player that doesn't support vbr, so for years i've had to convert vbr mp3 to a standard bitrate. i definitely prefer to *not* do this. once i find a better copy, i do replace the transcoded files.

in regards to flac, i made a decision a long time ago that the only time i'd keep flac audio files were for bootleg concerts, whereas cd albums sound "good enough" as mp3s. (keeping in mind that the only time any of these files are played are in my truck on the f90, or on my old sansa!)

thanks for the tip for others who don't know though!

  4. well the ipod is supposed to turn OFF every time you turn off the car, usually after 10-30 seconds. otherwise, if it stays on, therefore being charged, it would drain your car battery.

regarding why your system says OFF in the sources when you turn it on, that is weird. what type of ipod are you using? i had a similar problem, but mine would ONLY do it every once in awhile. try resetting the whole unit and see if that helps. if not....welcome to the problems of the f90bt

i just ordered my first ipod this week, so these are interesting points to know.. however, does the ipod not use a smart charge feature like cell phones which would only accept charge as it needs it

also, i find that any time the f90 is turned off on a source (usb or sd), then that source is removed while off, it turns on to say OFF on the source screen.. if the ipod is still off, it would of course not be recognized, so that source is no longer there.

  5. heh.. figures that it would take a long time to find a track that cut off.. it is a VBR mp3.. i don't have many VBRs, i typically rip @ 256 or 320 kbps, and usually re-encode any downloaded vbr files... can someone else confirm that VBR mp3s are the source of this problem?

info that might matter to the f90bt when reading the header:

    Encoder Delay: 576

    Zero Padding: 1296

    230kbit (VBR), 7321 frames

  6. i just made a quick mp3 dvd, it sorted exactly the same as the dvd was burned.. i used nero 8... my mp3 filenames are - - -

so if there were a sorting algorithm, there are 3 different levels that would have to be sorted, for each artist, then by album, then by track number.. my 90bt seems to have got it right

  7. i had the same problem before i added the ps-swi. after i installed the swi, the touchscreen has worked 100% of the time. there is some discussion of this same problem in another thread, but we hadn't come up with a sure fire fix for this... there doesn't seem to be any common factors that lead to this problem, so there's no guarantee that what worked for me will work for you.

  8. That is correct sir. I had a 2004 Silverado before this, and it was nearly identical except for the steering wheel plug.

do you remember which wire it was exactly on your 04 for the steering wheel controls? I see too many light green wires around the steering column, i don't want to tap into the wrong one! if i could find my multimeter, i'd figure it out, but i guess it need pointing in the right direction! thanks!

  9. i have the exact same problem, under the exact same situation. If the volume is adjusted, I completely lose the use of the touch screen, until I work back through from either the 2 buttons or moving the knob (not turning, but left/right or push)

its a real pita, thats for sure... the only change i'm made from factory was to load Maverickster's data.zip. Unfortunately, i never actually ran this unit without the modded data.zip, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
