I do like the idea of having Navigation if for some reason I'm somewhere where I have no cell reception. That and the capacitive screen are probably going to push me towards the 8000. I have a resistive screen now and it sometimes drives me crazy. Not sensitive enough! I just hope that Pioneer's Navigation data updates have greatly improved and that the cost has gone down some.

The problem I have is that when the Navigation needs to be updated, you have to pay a rediculous price for Pioneer to supply you with antiquated data. Every update I've ever done on my AVIC has been way behind anything that is on the iPhone. For example; my girlfriend's entire neighborhood would not show up on the Pioneer for a couple of years (even after an "update") but was completely visibile on the iPhone. The iPhone data is constantly updated and does not cost a penny. Does anyone know if the Apple Maps work well on the 4000 with the Apple CarPlay? I just have a HUGE problem with paying a company to provide me with old, worthless data. But, if they have made great advances in their data and come down from the rediculous prices, I might be interested in the 8000. I would much rather have everything in one package.

So, if you can get Apple CarPlay on the AVH-4000NEX and use the Apple maps, why would you need to pay twice the price to get the AVIC-8000NEX? I'm thinking of upgrading from my old AVIC-110BT. What is the true advantage of the 8000 over the 4000? Is it really worth the extra $700?

Lately I have noticed that when I get into my truck and start it the station on my 110BT will be on something other than what I had it on. I have noticed this with the Sirius and HD tuners. Usually the station that comes up on the Sirius is not even one of my presets. It's like it has a mind of its own and just chooses a station at random. Also sometimes I have used the next track button on the I-pod screen and it will actually go backwards instead of forwards. Same thing with the forward seek on HD, sometimes I push the forward button and it goes backwards. None of these issues happen every time, but enough to worry me. Anybody have these issues?

Is the shield for the Z1 the same size as the 110? I assume it is, but wanted to be sure before ordering. Their website does not list the 110. Anyone know for sure?

Whao! Your kidding, right? No remote control capability on a $2,000 radio? I just had my Z1 stolen out of my truck today and was looking at getting the new Z. I use my remote all of the time. As a matter of fact that is really the only way I use my radio. I can't believe that Pioneer droped the ball on this. This sucks. Now I may have to look into another brand.

Does anyone know if the CableJive charger adapter will charge the 3GS on the AVIC-Z1 with the Pioneer iPod adapter?

Inquiry:I have the AVIC-Z1 and the iPod/iPhone adapter that I used for my G2 iPhone. It works perfect. My problem is that now I have the new G3S iPhone and the iPod/iPhone adapter no longer charges my phone. Is there a new connection adapter that works with the new G3 iPhones?

I have read through all of the posts in the iphone section and I cannot find a solution to the problem. I have a Z1 and my new 3GS iphone will no longer charge with my Pioneer iphone adapter. My first iphone charged just fine. It seems like everything that comes out is not working.

For some reason I cannot get my iphone to pair with my Z1. I've done what the book says over a dozen times. When the phone actually gets to the code screen every number I put in says wrong code. I've tried 1111, 1234, 0000, etc. DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!! Please help so I can get some sleep. Damn, new gadgets!

Try dodgeparts.com. I bought the nav. dash bezel for $85.00 and I got the one out of the SRT-10 with the grey and carbon look. I used the Metra kit and it worked perfect.

I have a 2006 Dodge Mega Cab 2500 and the factory Sirius tuner is above the glovebox. The install of the aftermarket tuner is pretty cool and easy to do. Take out the glovebox, unplug the Sirius tuner, and remove the tuner along with the bracket it is mounted with. Remove the tuner from the bracket and mount the new tuner on the bracket using just a couple of sheet metal screws. Make sure to mount it at the feet of the tuner and don't shoot screws up into the tuner. The fatory antenna will work but you need to sqeeze the connector end a little to make it fit snug then slide it onto the tuner connector. You will want to zip tie the antenna cable somewhere with a little slack so that it can't wiggle off of the tuner. My Sirius tuner is the new one and is not much larger that the factory one. If you have one of the big tuners I don't think this will work.

I have a 2006 Dodge Mega Cab 2500 that I put a Z1 in and all I had to order was the Navigation dash bezel for mine (around $85.00) and the Metra double din kit and it fit perfect with no modification af any parts. You should be able to get a Navigation dash bezel for the 2005 models as long as they offered Navigation in the 2005 models. And then just contact Metra and talk to one of their techs and they will tell you what kit to get.

All of these will probably work fine I just recommended the roof for the best signal for both. And if you are running one to the roof why not run both at the same time. EASY!! Just my $.02.

I would put both on the roof in the back and run the wires in throught the third brake light. That is if it has a third brake light on the back of the roof. This is very easy to do and has a clean look.

Please Help - need VSS, Reverse, and ILL wires for 2006 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab w/ diesel. My AVIC-Z1 was produced in June, how do I bypass the gyro? I would like for all the functions to work while I am driving.
