Not familiar with the unit as a pro installed. Is there a USB powered slot in the unit that I could connect my iphone usb power source to? This would prevent me from having to connect to my cigarette lighter and result in a cleaner look.

I have this exact setup for the D3, so not sure about inputs, etc...and its in a Tahoe 03. I have the new adjustable mount from proclip USA with the passthrough jack. From there I have the Apple Composite + USB jack attached to the bottom of the proclip. The USP jack goes into a cigarette adaptor for charging and for the composite I got a 3 to 1 cable from Radio Shack that takes the composite to a midi jack. I have the midi plugged into the front of the N3. All cables are hidden behind the dash except where they plug into the cradle and N3.

I am able to watch videos, play music, phone calls, etc all with this setup and its charging all the while. Best part is you dont have to plug anything in everytime you get in your car/truck. Just throw it in the unit.

I would suggest getting one of those cigarette adaptors that have two usb in's. This way you can charge a spouces or friends phone and leave yours in the cradle.

And just this week I realized the 3.0 software fixed a glitch with this system. Before I could not hear voicemails so I had to remove the phone from cradle. Now it plays right thru.

PS, my mount is to the left of the steering wheel

I believe this will help us to stream music via bluetooth. Not sure if it will help wiht the contacts or not. Sure hope so! I'd trade one for the other. Anyone out there familiar with these technologies and could give us some insight?

This will allow me to hook up the connection of choice to the bottom for easy attachment/detachment.

I've searched around the forums and it looks like I have a few options :

question: 1. Can i plug this into my iphone without a dock?

2. can i tap the 12v power wire from the product above to the 12v power wire on the d3 so it will charge my phone as well?

For this option I would have to buy another set of rca's since the rcas on this won't connect together with rcas on the a/v harness on the d3 correct?

I plug the rcas to the back of the d3 and then the other end would go into the headphones jack on my iphone correct?

 

Last question is the only option I have to charge my iphone while playing vids is the first option from above are their other ways besides getting a dock?

 

If a dock is needed can someone list a part number because when someone posts a link from apple it goes to its home page instead of showing the item.

 

Please clear up some of my questions and I appreciate the help. Sorry I'm very basic when it comes to electronics but I did search around and I did install the D3 myself and it powered on!

What did you decide? I'm in the same boat.

Will someone update me on the functioning of the adaptor from various suppliers and the iPhone + D3. In particular will it in fact charge AND allow video to be played on the D3.
